Yeah, Stann is a good guy. Yet, when comparing his record of fights from the past few years he has only come across a few impressive men in the cage.
Of those only 7 have been in the UFC. Of the 7 he was sub'd by Soszynski in Rd.1, and lost to Phil Davis in 2010 during Davis's debut (another strong wrestler)
His notable win with a TKO of Leben was followed up a KO of Jorge Santiago-in Santiago's UFC's debut.
What we are hearing for Stann is hype to sell tickets. As you said Sonnen has an excellent chin, and I think there are 2 things at play. One Sonnen gets a less threatening opponent to flesh his rust with as a warm up for the big ticket seller, the Anderson rematch.
Stann gets the slight chance of winning, and if successful he could get thrown in with Anderson - without much to really threaten Anderson with. Such a match would sell too, "National Hero Fights for World Title..on Fox." Anderson would chew Stann up over 5 rounds.
Smart money is with you, Sonnen will demonstrate to Stann why it takes much more than 2 years of wrestling practice.

I agree man no doubt. Thats probley how it went down. I love Stann and i believe he will do great in the UFC i just think anytime he gets lined up with a wrestler he is going to be in trouble. Doesn't matter how much take down defense you work on you can't keep chael from getting you down. Chael has a wicked chin to take the punishment to get inside to. I have to go with Cheal on this one man, and I personally would like the see the rematch with Anderson what do you think?

Here's how I see it.... Stann was awarded a Silver Star in 2006. From a profession and private military contractor's point of view he was a Naval Academy graduate, he led in a fierce battle, and Stann's main goal was to bring his entire group of Marines home from Iraq - which he was lucky enough to do. Stann Quote:
"You can forget all the other medals; I just wanted the award that said 42 out of 42 men came home safely"
The UFC has many service members who pay for thier fights, and the nation is stuck in a state of continuous war. Only a fucking idiot of a CEO would ever allow his enterprise, or his employees (fighters) talk shit to, or about Brian Stann. I think Chael was told to stand down and lay off his typical- hype, taunts, and barrages.

At least someone has some common sense. Brian is a great man and what he does for his country and the way he carries himself is amazing. With that being said his ground game is weak and nowhere near Chaels. I mean look at what Krzysztof Soszynski did to Brian on the ground. Brian will be taken down at will and not get up. I actually think chael may sub him.

I find it funny that everyone talks shit about Chael because he hypes fights and actually goes out there and does what he says he is going to do. Then when he doesn't hype a fight people want him to talk shit, and claim its boring. You people are a bunch of fuckin idiots

@O Chan
Yeah. I was seeing the same problem with Edgar if he wins. He could only claim, at best that he has the belt, not the better record.
RyanSarr- October 5, 2011 at 11:27 am
that Edgar/Maynard staredown was INTENSE!

OK, enough of the BS talk, what does Vegas have to say? What are the odds?
XENOPHON- October 5, 2011 at 11:09 am
Well we all just heard it from Stann himself, he said he will knock Chael Sonnen out! It should be pointed out the only time Sonnen came close to be knocked out was back in December 3, 2004 by Terry Martin. It wasn't even a true knockout, it was a corner stoppage.
You tell me, since all of Chael's losses come from submissions, the odds of Stann doing what other better punches haven't been able to do is misleading. Fight hype, or poor strategy thinking he can keep this fight brian stann'ding?

Except when asked this question, DW said they wouldn't fight again, the LW division would move on.
O Chan- October 5, 2011 at 10:21 am
Here's an interesting scenario, say Frankie wins (let's say for the sake of an argument, by a decision)... You think (maybe not right away), but Maynard will get another shot? When you think about it, Frankie wins, they have an even record against each other. Interesting scenario to have the "rubber-match" be the fourth fight.
Fried Taco- October 5, 2011 at 9:33 am
Wow! All that trash talk between Chael and Brian is so, so... uh, boring. Chael needs to fight someone he can hate again.

I missed a fucking ton of this DAMMIT!
