Report: Wanderlei Silva vs. Michael Bisping in Australia
("Damn it...what did I just come down here for?")
Contradicting previous reports that Wanderlei Silva's next opponent will be Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 110 (February 21st; Sydney, Australia), Fighters Only UK says that the Axe Murderer will instead be taking on Michael Bisping:
Wanderlei Silva, who most recently dropped a unanimous decision to Rich Franklin in June, has only earned one victory in the last three years — a 36-second knockout of Keith Jardine at UFC 84 — and he's looking to re-invent his career at 185 pounds. The momentum would appear to be with Bisping, who regained some confidence earlier this month with a second-round TKO of Denis Kang at UFC 105. Still, the Axe Murderer could wind up doing to the Count what Dan Henderson did to him; i.e., chase him around the cage then pull his plug with a heavy punch.
The opponent switch for Wanderlei may have been done because his fight will headline UFC 110, and Silva vs. Bisping is an easier sell for fans than Silva vs. Akiyama. As of now, the card is also rumored to include Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Ben Rothwell, Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski, and Dong Hyun Him vs. Chris Lytle.

As much as I dislike Bisping...I can not WAIT to see GSP absolutely bury Hardy and put him back in the "who is this guy?" category.
I know it's not the same card...but the idea stays the same.

Alright, c'mon Wandy! Really hope the guy can get the win he so desperately needs. Fuck a Bisbing. It's weird how Bisbing really wasn't doing so bad until the knockout by Hendo, and all of a sudden everyone started treating the guy like he's dropped his last 5 fights. Thats how you know he got punked bad.
That is a weird card. It's pretty much all fighters who need wins and are coming off loses. Whatever happens, I really hope Bonnar pulls this one out. I know people like to say that he hasn't done anything in his career, but the guy has never been finished, never been put away. The guy goes balls out every fight, and has one of the toughest chins in MMA. And for fuck sake, his fight with Griffin at the TUF finale was the most important fight in UFC history.

Well, Bisping won't have the crowd on his side for this one. Nothing the Aussies like more than seeing a brit fail at sport. Although it would be sweeter if it was Elvis Sinosic getting his payback rather than Wandy, but it'll do.

Yeah I hope Wandy get's his career back on track, and I couldn't think of a better victim then Bisping. As with any division in the UFC I'm just interested in seeing new blood to fight the top guys or this shit is going to get stale real quick.

Wanderlei fans are living on nostalgia. He's 1 and 3 in his current run in the UFC (including getting smashed by Rampage who happens to have been Bisping's main training partner for a long time) and hasn't looked anywhere near his old self since he left Japan.
Bisping by decision.

I think it should be an interesting fight. The old Wandy would murder him but now the only thing he is now is old. His KO over the techno viking was nice but even a slight breeze sends him into convulsions. I think Bisping via decision.

Australian cards may not be pay per view over in the states because when there fighting over here on a sat night it will be very very very early in the morning in the USA like around 3am!!! so pay per view sales will be well down! So if you yanks are lucky you will get all UFC events that are in Australia for FREE! :)

The last bit regarding Lytle vs. Kim fight is not true. Dong Kim's camp manager came out and said Kim's not ready. He is still recovering from his knee injury and he can't even bend his knee yet.
