Heavy.com is reporting that the automatic rematch Dana White promised Mac Danzig after a questionable stoppage in his fight with Matt Wiman at UFC 115 will take place September 15 at UFC Fight Night 22 in Austin, TX.
The controversy arose when Danzig, caught in a guillotine, seemed to be unresponsive to referee Yves Lavigne’s inquiries about whether he was okay or not, prompting Wiman to inform the experienced French-Canadian official that Mac was indeed unconscious.
The problem was, Danzig was still wide awake; he just didn’t want to shift his position as it may have closed the space he had made between Wiman’s forearm and his corotid artery, causing him to fall asleep.
It was a rookie mistake for Lavigne to take the word of a fighter to end a fight, rather than check on Danzig for himself, but in his defense, Danzig did fail to communicate that he was still conscious.
Semantics aside, Danzig will get another chance to convince the UFC brass that they should keep him in the organization.
1-4 in his past five Octagon appearances, many felt that Xtreme Couture fighter who was The Ultimate Fighter Season 6 winner should have been cut after losing three in a row before Danzig snapped the losing streak with a decision victory over Justin Bucholtz in the fight prior to his loss to Wiman.
Wiman’s future in the UFC also hinged largely upon the pair’s last meeting as he came into the fight 1-2 in his previous three bouts.
The card that will be broadcast live on SPIKE TV and will act as a lead-in into TUF 12.
The rumored card for the event is as follows:
UFC Fight Night 22

However I think you should continue to train. There is something very cathartic about Martial Arts. I can't imagine not doing it 5 times a week. Been going for 15 years now.
I still grin from ear to ear when I land a roundhouse kick on one of my fighters heads and it is even more fun to see a 20-something guy realize a 47 year old was the one that did it to him.
See, your never too old for this shit.
