Steroids in MMA
Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

Everything Was Going So Well Up to This Point…

(One blind punch can sure screw up a guy’s picks something awful. Photo courtesy of Fight Magazine.)

By now we’ve all had a chance to see how we fared in our individual FightPicker pools, and then follow that up with the appropriate amount of gloating/sobbing at the sight of the overall standings. I’ll admit that I wasn’t feeling too great about finishing third in my pool, but hey, that’s what I get for thinking Nick Diaz and Marius Zaromskis would take longer than a round to reach that level of reckless abandon. Third felt acceptable. It felt almost dignified. Then my wife pointed out that she beat me. By a lot. And not only did she win her pool, she’s tied for first overall.

I spent the next several hours sitting alone in a dark room, feeling bad about myself and reevaluating some life choices. If only Melvin Manhoef hadn’t gotten quite so overeager, I kept telling myself, things might have been different. But that’s not the way it worked out, thanks to Robbie Lawler’s Hail Mary right hook, and now I get to hear about it for the rest of my life. Or until I redeem myself with UFC 109.

Feel free to use the comments section below to curse your picks, brag about what a magnificent human being you are, complain about some perceived injustice, or do whatever you need to do to process the results.

Well that didn't work.

Let's see if this produces a double carriage return.

That just doesn't sound right, how about...

Thanks guys for the info on how to access the fightpicker, that sounds more appropriate.

Damnit stupid main event cost me big. Can I have my 3rd place chips in Salt and Vingar flavoring please? Those are my favorite.

I was blown away by that hail mary right hook. I thought for sure he was gonna get spanked the way he was just taking all those leg kicks like that. I was expecting his leg to get blasted into the crowd if he took too many more of them. Leave it to Robbie Lawler to pull a Scott Smith and get the out of nowhere KO. Kudos to him (even if he did screw up my fight picks). Tied with three people for third place.

@ Canadianbacon,
Log out and log back in. You need to refresh your CP "cookie".
Nobody rejects you (except the Brock of course, but only when it suits him).

For everyone having problems with "Access Denied," log out and log back in. You need a new CagePotato cookie, and unfortunately there's no way to force it without you logging out first.

Access denied. WTF is that. mmaplayground you are not.
robthom- January 31, 2010 at 5:56 pm
@ BackbaconBilly

A consistently easy bit of pleasure.
KoPDanger- January 31, 2010 at 5:54 pm
Heh, the only thing I wasn't feeling was splitting the winnings with the three other people who came in third in my pool. Twenty chips immediately went to five... kind of made zero sense.
If I'm in Vegas and I bet, I don't have to share my winnings with everyone who bet the same way.
Awesome though. Manhoef and Diaz having killer instinct ruined my pools. Bastards.
BackbaconBilly- January 31, 2010 at 5:32 pm
Can't log in either, says access restricted... is this another thing denied to Canucks?
KimboSlice- January 31, 2010 at 5:24 pm

Still sad about what happened to Manhoef, two advices for him, like everyone said "keep your hands up", and "keep using your gladiator black trunks", at k-1 heros dynamite! USA 2007 he wear the white trunks, now at strikeforce the long shorts made him look like marvin eastman at my bad quality stream. "And f#*k the sponsors!!"
Cmmon! Melvin you can win it the next time
Smitty- January 31, 2010 at 4:52 pm
Quad(ruple bypass) has been tryin like hell not to use any of Joe Rogans catch phrases at every Strikeforce event. He's come close a couple times, but last night he crossed the line by saying to one fighter "we hope to see you again in the future". You could almost see it in his face how bad he wished he could take it back. Fuckin loser.
