Rumor Killer: Kimbo Definitely Won’t Fight Gannon or Star Opposite Hulk Hogan

(Reflecting on what might have been.)

Of all the incredulous claims about Kimbo Slice‘s future, it’s starting to seem like very few of them are going to pan out. Though reported that former Boston police officer Sean Gannon was the front runner to become Slice’s next opponent on the October 4 CBS show, Elite XC’s Jared Shaw told Five Ounces of Pain that the bout definitely won’t be happening. You could interpret this as a sign that Elite XC has officially gotten their collective mind right when it comes to Kimbo Slice matchmaking, but Sam Caplan says the fight was scratched not because it’s a pointless circus bout, but because of Gannon’s “financial demands.”

In other words, Elite XC is perfectly willing to bring YouTube quality fights to network TV, but only if they can do it cheap. Looks like we’re back to either Ken Shamrock or Brett Rogers.

Outside the cage, it looks as if Kimbo will no longer be co-starring with Hulk Hogan in the lovable 3-D children’s film “Kung Fu U.” According to the Wall Street Journal’s Market Watch, things fell apart “due to a misunderstanding among the agents involved with the Kimbo Slice deal” and Stereo Vision has since retracted their press release.

You know what that means? There’s a spot open in a hot new 3-D martial arts movie, and you get to play opposite Hulk Hogan, of “Mr. Nanny” fame! Get those audition tapes ready. Try to make them better than this one.

thank goodness... i was shocked at the gannon possibility. everyone wants rogers... but they're afraid they'll blow their wad on this fight and then have nothing else to offer. but with the money they'd make on this fight, they'd be able to afford a decent fighter for the winner to fight.

It would be hillarious if Kimbo was on TUF. He is a perfect candidate.

I heard Kimbo is going to take on a five year old girl with an arm tied behind her back. He will still probably "almost" lose.

Maybe they are trying to book Kimbo for the next series of TUF

Dont be surprised if Shaw makes Kimbo fight himself out of a wet paper bag for the EliteXC HW title....Then again they are saying that Bigfoot will still be the title holder until proved in courts

So in other words, nothing will be done because EliteXC should be out of business by the time that comes around.

"Of all the incredulous claims about Kimbo Slice’s future, it’s starting to seem like very few of them are going to pan out."

Including the claim that, someday, Kimbo will become a top-10 heavyweight.

I really cant wait for EliteXC to throw in the towel and just give up. Their ENTIRE future is basically depending on finding the absolute oldest, weakest, and most out of shaped hand picked can with a recognizable name for Kimbo to, can you even call it, fight???

I am guessing Shamrock. Maybe even old ass Patrick Smith. Then again they may need someone of Butterbeans caliber.....where there is ABSOLUTELY NO chance that it hits the mat, unless it is Bean's fat ass carcass falling on it.

Simply, I just cant wait for this circus to end

I thought Sean Gannon couldn't fight Kimbo because he was busy making a movie opposite of Hulk I'm just confused.

I thought gann had retired from the PD and I was sure he would want big bucks to fight kimbo. Kimbo has improved way out of his old level and I doubt gann has. Let's get lesnar vs slice for a fun spectacle, maybe kimbo could damage steroid freaks face a little?
