Anderson Silva ” src=”http://www.cagepotato.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/wenn1102754.jpg” alt=” width=”390″ height=”260″ />Does this look like the face of a man who would coast for five rounds to an unspectacular win?
Even before the UFC’s return to Rio de Janeiro has a Wikipedia page, Anderson Silva is rumored to have his opponent in place. Tatame is reporting that, according to Black House teammate Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Anderson Silva will be fighting Yushin Okami at UFC Rio. The fight will extend Anderson Silva’s title defense record to nine straight.
Yushin Okami is riding a three fight win streak, with his most recent victory being an unspectacular decision over Nate Marquardt back at UFC 122. Fortunately, there are two things that will hopefully keep this one from getting unspeakably boring quickly. For one, Anderson Silva is fighting in his home country for the first time since 2003. Also of note, Yushin Okami is the last person to defeat gain a victory over Anderson Silva. In 2006, the two fought at Rumble on the Rock 8. In the opening round, Anderson Silva knocked out Okami with an illegal upkick. Because Okami was unable to continue, he was awarded a disqualification victory.

I just think it's kind of sad that a fight is announced for the dominant ufc champion and most of the comments revolve around whether he will actually fight or not...
Okami's strength is wrestling, therefore the fight should be more similar to silvas vs Henderson, Lutter, and Sonnen. Wrestlers are far more aggressive and succesful with takedowns, so HOPEFULY Okami will push Silva and make him fight, or make him lay on his back and eat elbows. Either is fine with me.

'I’m more inclined to think that silva would put on a show infront of braxilians…'

Are they from Braxil?
And yeah, upkicks from the guard should be OK even if the guy has both knees down. It would certainly help persuade certain people *cough* fitch *cough* to try and advance positions after a take down, and actually helps provide an opportunity to do so. Assuming you don't get knocked out by them.
I think the only reason those are illegal is b/c they needed to make a blanket rule regarding kicks on the ground which covered everything they wanted the rule to cover, which unfortunately sometimes pulls into it strikes that should still be allowed, e.g., the kick in the face when both guys are on the ground a la A. Silva.
This is similar to no knees when your opponent is downed, so everyone just puts their hand on the ground now.
Also, how did the rest of this fight go? (ashamed to say I never watched it)
I don't get it either .... that's very hard to do and looks fucking awesome when it lands.
True, he might be careful at first, but he'll pull the trigger. For an example of this, see Silva vs. Belfort.
