‘Sexyama’ to Make Welterweight Debut in February Against Shields at UFC 144 in Japan

(Will one of these two men find themselves unemployed with a loss against the other?)

The UFC has added a second bout to its return to Japan on February 26 for UFC 144.

According to UFC president Dana White, joining a main event lightweight championship bout between Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson on the card will be a welterweight showdown between former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields and Japanese fan favorite Yoshihiro Akiyama, who will be make his 170-lb debut that night.

0-2 in his last two outings with back-to-back losses to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 129 and Jake Ellenberger at UFN 25, Shields will be looking to right the ship by handing “Sexyama” his fourth straight loss in the Octagon and possibly his walking papers in the process.

Akiyama is an unimpressive 1-3 in his four UFC appearances, with a hotly contested split decision win over Alan Belcher in his debut at UFC 100, followed by a trio of losses to Chris Leben, Michael Bisping and Vitor Belfort at UFCs 116, 120 and 133, respectively.

UFC 144 will take place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan and will also feature Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against a yet-to-be-named opponent.

I don't care for Shields, but dropping a few fights - when the UFC fighters are lucky on average to have 3-4 wins in a row, is not a crime for Shields.
Look at the biggest names out there, and they all typically have several loses.

Hey fucko that was a mistype from 2-3 am in the morning - meant to say Herring.
You already know I was in the U.S. Navy, and since you know that - its all the same when you got someone bent over in the dark...for those 12 month long deployments.
If it makes you feel any better, I was up early with my wood in the hand, ticking my balls with the other...thinking about you. (winky-winkie)

Maybe we should just call you Smack Daddy, cause you tend to talk as much shit around here - as anyone else.

Xena Warrior Princess said: "Size, speed, and the fact that unlike Cain, Lesnar can take anyone down hard and fast – Go back and watch the Cain vs. Lesnar fight."
Maybe you need to go watch that fight again, Xena. Nevermind, lemme tell you how it went down. The bell rings. Brock charges Cain. Attempts a flying knee and misses. They hug for a while. Cain puts Brock against the cage and starts his boxing 101 tutorial. Brock crouches down. Brock curls up. The ref has seen enough and stops the fight. Now where exactly does Brock take Cain down in that fight, or how is that remotely apparent. Shows that more than half the time you're talking out of your ass.

******************************************************As for the UFC premier on FOX..what a flop. Biggest flop in MMA history. FOX spent all that big cash, then pushed the fight to compete with Boxing, and got knocked the fuck out with a one-hit-wonder paper champion laying face first on the deck with his ass up in the ass - in a minute.
I have told you once, Bellator is going to knock off the UFC. It might be 5 years out - but they are primed to displace the UFC. Viacom didn't spend nearly $100M dollars (as FOX did) and although I have not seen Bellator's cooked books, I will be the farm that their total debt is but mere a fractional percentage of that which Zuffa is out on the limb for.
Hey Read UP Fajita Fag bros...
I sure hope those shit hole Stations Casino holdings was not used as collateral. Those close mafia ties to NY are already pissed and shaking you down over the union the own, and who you fucking out dues paying membership.
Just wait until the real mafia Godfather decides that you two half breed "guineas" placed the Station Casino cash cow in jeopardy - got greedy - and didn't spread the take from the earn.
Too bad there is already a movie called Casino. It demonstrates exactly what eventually - happens to two asshole brothers.

I think I agree with you about Shields. I like Sexyama, but the loses take a toll on the mental after awhile.
JDS was the obvious choice from before they even entered the gate. To learn that he did so injured, and stepped up to the plate is a snapshot at his character.
The true test for JDS is not that he will face a consecutive line of ex-champions for some time to come. I think Brock will give him the biggest problem if and when that happens. Size, speed, and the fact that unlike Cain, Lesnar can take anyone down hard and fast - Go back and watch the Cain vs. Lesnar fight.
As for Dana...Once again a liar. I watched the pre-fight interviews as each of you did and all heard him boast about how he was promoting a fight where both the fighters were healthy...NOT the case was it.
Your gonna say, well poor Dana didn't know JDS was injured???? Fuck off, show me one half-decent sports contract that does not waive the rights of the employer to full and immediate disclosure over medical confidentiality?
And that brings up another question, as the UFC fighters have to sign a waiver of the medical rights. In most all cases, the Zuffa executives knows exactly who uses juice, what they use, and who doesn't.
Which one's don't they know about - easy question. The Zuffa executives likely don't know about the highest paid 20 fighters, (20 out of over 200) as they are the only ones making enough money to hire the best advisers and are financially sound enough to purchase the best drugs and juice.

PERPATRAITOR- November 15, 2011 at 1:39 am
shields is good. i personally think he beat GSP (although i know he didn't technically, i'm speaking of beat him up and took less to little damage). his dad died right before a fight. i don't think i would have trained or fought great during that shit either. i think shields takes it because of relentless pressure but its not a good match up for him. you guys are all forgetting about how good sexy's judo is. so it is a great matchup and fight to watch. good challenge for both guys.
SnackDaddy- November 15, 2011 at 12:48 am
Shield's striking? nigga pleasseee... it looks like he's going to fall over every time he attempts a high kick. And he throws the most girly of punches and the best he can manage is a poke in the eye. Akiyama got this one by TKO.
HandsofGold- November 14, 2011 at 11:22 pm

When you write you make yourself sound stupid watch everyone just read his next post... We are waiting J3T prove me right..

Write that post for me ;)
HandsofGold- November 14, 2011 at 11:21 pm
J3T you never made me feel stupid lmfao. I worked you! You have clearly just let everyone in this thread know that you know nothing about this sport. Shelds stand up is bad, do you remember him poking GSP in the eye? Probley not.... Then ellenberger smashed him easily. Problem that Jake is getting into the cage with top tallent and can't hack it and to think he wanted to fight Silva!! Well i guess since his "Stand up" Is so great now he should go fight Silva he would probley KO the spider right....

ccman- November 14, 2011 at 10:56 pm
This screams of "save shields career" fight. Sexyama has a spot so long as UFC wants the Japan market. Shields though he owns the ok trail or parks and both white people in Stockton, not so much even with his inflated contract.
J3t- November 14, 2011 at 10:56 pm
hands of gold you're mad because i made you look stupid in another thread i didnt even read all of that shit you write. Get a life no body gives a shit about you :)

@me likely: No I agree with you somewhat bro. The last two fights right? I thought Sheild's striking looked like he had improved against GSP. By his standards it looked pretty good he cought GSP with a shot here in there and it wasn't 25 mins of wrestling like you'd expect. You wouldn't agree with that? The Ellenberger fight I admit that sounds stupid on the surface and I could be completely wrong but I believe his father dying had a lot to do with that. Until he got caught I thought it looked good for him again. Word up
HandsofGold- November 14, 2011 at 10:44 pm

Your still talking that down syndrome. One thing i have learned about you is you obviously don't watch the fights close enough because if you think his stand up looked good in his last to outings then you must be talking about his last fight with ellenberger when he got knocked into J3T land!! In the first round. Kid you seriously need to stop! Go back study up and watch a few fights.

Your new name DS J3T

Sopapo- November 14, 2011 at 9:06 pm
why the hate on Akiyama ? can't the dude get an easy fight on his hometown? he got from a tough debut against Belcher and it just got tougher from there. that aint right. Step down in competition please.
whiterice- November 14, 2011 at 6:50 pm
Both in came in highly touted, but weigh their losses and I think Akiyama's stock is far lower than Shields' right now. I guess they're assuming the weight drop will make all the difference, but with the way he and other Japanese fighters have been doing in the UFC it's hard to believe it. They need Akiyama to fight in Japan, but this matchup just seems odd - he can't beat Leben so we'll give him Shields.
RwilsonR- November 14, 2011 at 4:50 pm
Tough draw for Sexyama. I hope he remembers to grease up for the fight.
