ESPN "First Take" brought Shaquille O’Neal’s personal trainer on so he could talk about the Diesel’s MMA training and mention the name of his gym and its website no less than a dozen times. The interviewer here seems oddly amused by her own ignorance of MMA, and really presses this guy to give her odds on the possibility of a Shaq vs. Chuck Liddell fight in the UFC. Let me put it to you this way, lady: there’s about as much chance of that fight happening in the UFC as there is of you taking over for Larry King when he finally retires/dies. Got it now?
But wait a minute, you thinking what I’m thinking? Given Shaq’s size and status as a professional athlete in a completely different sport, it seems like he’s just begging to be picked up for a fight in the beautiful city of Japan.
Shaq vs. Hong Man Choi, perhaps? Or Bob Sapp? Make it happen, Dream. It’s not like you have integrity at stake or anything.

I’d rather see MMA completely disappear forever than have it polluted/watered down with celebrities, washout athlete’s from other sports, or any other douchebag that finds a place to order 4oz gloves online. I don’t even care if none of this ridiculous shit happens, I’m tired of hearing the publicity about it. And since everyone will whore out a celebrity of an kind, there’s an organization somewhere that’ll cash in on this. They should make it about as easy to get on an MMA card for Shaq as it would be for Chuck Liddell to just decide he’s gonna play point guard for the Celtics and walk on someday. Someone runs a five minute mile or did some amateur boxing in college and all of a sudden MMA is the next logical step?
Fuck that. If everyone can start doing it, I say go back to the bare-knuckle-anything-goes of the old days. We’ll see how many REALLY want to fight then.
