Sign of the Apocalypse #3,122

(The end is very nigh, indeed.)
So this fight is really happening, isn’t it, K-1 Dynamite? You’re sure there’s nothing I can say to talk you out of it? Fine, have it your way.
But at some point in the night on New Year’s Eve, when Bob Sapp is standing in the ring across from a dude in a mask, you’re going to have to answer some pretty difficult questions about how you got to this point.
And yeah, I know that in Japan on NYE the rules are a little different. I can accept that. When Fedor fought Zuluzinho, then later Hong Man Choi, I was willing to chalk it up to cultural differences.
But this is Bob Sapp. Against a dude in a mask (not that exact same mask, but still). It might sound like a lot of fun for a crazy New Year’s Eve show, but you’re going to hate yourself for this in the morning. Or at least you ought to.

FEG is trying to get fans to watch. Sapp used to be popular. Muscle Men was a popular anime. It's all in good fun.
I think you can chalk this one up to cultural differences. You'd never see something like this in the US and it's kinda fun to see happen in Japan. Its a freak show, try not to look too much into it!

In an unprecedented effort to stave off complete irrelevance Bob Sapp has agreed to fight a character from the Japanese animated series Kinnikuman, which loosely translates to "Ninja Blowup Dolls" in English. NYE is going to be one wild night!

A Motherfucking Robot Says:
I don't get it, K-1 has some legit fighters, why do they have to go the freak show route. This whole thing makes the sport look bad
Sarro Says:
And in our Main event Bob Sapp vs. Blowup doll Polly Pucker.

Cosplay MMA is going to save the Japanese fight scene, just think about all the "great" match ups to come.
Anderson Silva who? Says:
Is that Quenn Latifah in the between them? I thought she was a lesbo....

Next year: Hong Man Choi vs. Pikachu. I'm not sure if Choi is ground-type or not, but if not, he's in trouble.
Jeffro Says:
Wow...That dude that Sapp is fighting has perminent Cock Sucker Lips.
El_GUAPO Says:
How's the ref gonna know if he is knocked out? He might take some extra punishment if the ref can't see his eyes clearly. But like you say, the mask will be a little bit different for the fight. I like the mask idea as a freaky one-off event, Sapp isn't considered a contender for anything anymore and just wants to entertain and make a few bucks, I say fair enough.
Billy Bad Ass Says:
What do you mean this would never happen in America? Did you not see the last Elite XC card on CBS? Kimbo Slice fought that 80's cartoon bitch, Jem, and got KTFO!
BionicWalta Says:
that mask looks like an angry blow up doll

I'd rather watch this than any of the rumored fights on the next UFC Fight night card.
Surfin Dave Says:
Next apocalyptic sign? ProElite rising from the ashes...
Dangada Dang Says:
Masked man via Shaolin soccer kick and Kamehameha 3:13 in the first

I think it's all in good fun. not only cultural differences are to be taken into account... also aspirations. Clearly this wouldn't be the way to act if your promotion wants to be recognized as a serious sport. But even then, you know? It's a New Year's thing, it's festive. I'm really cool with this.
kostellow Says:
hahahha
ill watch it for sure.
hope its a fast ko (trying to help the joke out has its limits)....
