Silva and Machida Talk Fights with Sonnen and Rampage


(Somehow, I don’t think this is the first time Chael rocked this feathered coif.)

Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida spoke with Sherdog.com recently about "The Spider’s" upcoming UFC 117 tilt with Chael Sonnen and "The Dragon’s" rumored bout with Quinton Rampage Jackson among other topics.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m not easily entertained or because every fighter seems to spout the same tired crap to the same tired questions, but I would be much more interested in all the pre-fight drama if they made these guys live together for their entire training camp before they fight like on "The Ultimate Fighter." That way, we could watch them squabble about real issues they have with each other like who left the toilet seat up and who drank the last of the morning urine and didn’t throw out the container. You can’t fake that kind of drama.


I picture it as "The Odd Couple" meets "Lethal Weapon" or "Rush Hour" — two men with decidedly different lifestyles forced to work together towards a common goal. Screw the stagnant formula of TUF, THAT’s the reality show I want to see.

Slightly off subject but I think all Rampage fights should have a extra preliminary round of nothing but trash talking. That way page would at least have a chance of winning a round every fight.

All the talk of "we" and "our game" made this look like an old-school tag team wrestling promo. All that was missing was a cloudy blue backdrop and "Mean" Gene Okerlund.

Blah blah boring. Now, if the interviewer had asked Chael the same lame questions, "how prepared are you," "what will we see different in your next fight," all in Portuguese, you know some country music ultimate fighting would have resulted.

No one said the link didn't work. "herdog.com" is hyperlinked, not "Sherdog.com". Look closely.

I'm merely being petty because it pleases me when I find sloppy work. It makes me feel superior.

Unless it was deliberate in which case it was witty.

Either way I'm happy. But that's probably just because I've been huffing gasoline since I got back from my AA meeting.

Dear Mike,

The Sherdog link is actually herdog.com. It seems it would be difficult for that to be a mistake unless your web developers are lame and use Dreamweaver or something comparably ameteurish.

If it is on purpose is that because the Sherdog forums are full of whiny bitches?
