Smacktalk Roundup: Brett Rogers Suggests That Overeem “Man Up,” Overeem’s Manager Calls Rogers “Brainless”
While hanging around San Jose for this past weekend’s Strikeforce event, Brett Rogers gave this interview to MMANews.com, where he said he hopes Strikeforce heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem will “man up” and fight him soon. Of course, that implies that Overeem is staying out of action due to issues of bitchassness, rather than because he nearly lost his hand after brawling with some bouncers. Not surprisingly, Overeem’s manager, Bas Boon, wasn’t going to let that remark slip by uncontested:
“Does Brett Rogers think this help’s him? Alistair trains everyday with punchers like Errol Zimmerman, Gokhan Saki, Karaev, Sergei Kharitonov, and Semmy Schilt. He knocked out one of the best strikers in the world in Badr Hari in the first round under Hari’s rules (K-1). He fought three rounds against three time K-1 World Champion Remy Bojasky and would have won that fight had they counted the second round knock down. What exactly does Brett Rogers have on his record?”
“I understand that Brett is frustrated that Alistair is injured, but that is a brainless comment”. Boon continued. “The hand injury is now resolved and he is getting back to training carefully.”
Give Rogers credit for keeping his name in people’s minds when it comes to the Strikeforce heavyweight class. The more he talks about Overeem, the more people are going to want to see him get the first title shot when Overeem finally comes back. Although then he’ll have to actually fight the guy, which is a lot tougher than talking about him while he’s not there.

Come on Brett! Say it with conviction! He sounds similar to Tito when he announced for Affliction. The big difference is that Brett is not being paid based on his speaking ability. Rogers is no dummy though. Rogers proves he knows what he is doing when he takes a page out of Rocky III by calling out Overeem a la Clumber Lang. Any publicity is good publicity. Call the champ out- say he is ducking you.

It is ALL the fault of Strikefarce. They have TITLE holders going 2 years WITHOUT defending it. While, they are busy making movies or fighting in OTHER promotions. They have plently of other time to fight elsewhere or maek money elsewhere.
They CANT even control their fighters...They allow them to purposely ignore a urine test because they know they will fail. And they REWARD them with the promise of a title shot WHENEVER he feels like testing clean.
