Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

Sokodjou to Face Sobral at “Day of Reckoning”

Dropped from the UFC just two weeks ago, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (5-3) has already been picked up by Affliction, and will reportedly face Renato "Babalu" Sobral (31-7) at "Day of Reckoning" on January 24th. Wisely, the Cameroonian fighter only signed a one-fight contract, which means he won’t be stuck in an EliteXC-style purgatory if Affliction crashes and burns after their second event. Sobral, who won Strikeforce’s light-heavyweight title last month with a doctor’s stoppage victory over Bobby Southworth, was originally slated to face Matt Lindland in a 195-pound catch-weight bout at "Day of Reckoning"; Lindland will now be facing former UFC champ Vitor Belfort.

Not exactly a tune-up match for Soko, who’s coming off a TKO loss to Luis Cane at UFC 89 in October. Sobral is about as seasoned as they come, and he’s looked particularly sharp lately. He certainly has the submission skills to punk Sokoudjou on the ground, though a standing fight could favor the African Assassin. Here’s what "Day of Reckoning"’s main card looks like so far:

- Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski
- Josh Barnett vs. Gilbert Yvel
- Matt Lindland vs. Vitor Belfort
- Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
- Renato Sobral vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou
- Chris Horodecki vs. Dan Lauzon

If you mean Nog, Lil Nog/Minotouro fights at LH, hes a 205'r, likewise in the African Assassin

I hope Gilbert Yvell will once again show his striking against the referee.

Soko will mentally submit as soon as Babalu connects with a decent punch. The Assassin hates being hunted. The win will look good on Sobral's resume.

yehh but the ufc did pick up the more seasoned/hit by a truck brother. Affliction still got a great HW fighter tho.

Agree with mayhem420, as long as Babalu doesn't try to stand with Soko, it's in the bag. Soko's ground game reminds me of Houston Alexander on the mat...dead in the water.

That's a pretty good looking fight card. Some interesting match ups to support a main event that would have been every fan boys wet dream a couple years ago.

After the last few UFCs people are starting to realize that big names don't equal great fights, but Affliction seems to have grabbed a few of the big names that usually entertain one way or the other.

Yea! I another loss for Sokoverated!
All Sobral needs to do is take Soko down... once it hits the mat the fight is over.

Sheesh....they really shouldn't let this guy do photo ops without that predator mask on...he is really just uncomfotable to look at.

this card is looking pretty good. i'm looking forward to it. hopefully the production will improve. i didn't think sokoudjou would be competing so soon after white let him go. i'm expecting babalu to win though.

That's actually a really interesting card. Not one name on that list I'm not familiar with. Good job affliction. Is this a ppv?

I hope this actually goes down.

I can't wait to see Horodescki knock out Lauzon...

Good card so far.

I expect Babalu to come in overconfident because he did aight on his feet against Whitehead, if he does he might get tko'd by Soko. on the ground it's all Babs
