FightHubTv.com caught up with Chael Sonnen last night in Las Vegas where he hosted the Fighters Only World MMA Awards and the uncharacteristically reserved and noticeably glassy-eyed UFC middleweight sort of cleared up recent speculation about whom he will fight next.
According to “The Gangster from America,” contrary to popular belief, he will not be squaring off with Mark Munoz at the planned UFC on Fox 2 broadcast. Although he wouldn’t say when his next fight is, Sonnen did infer that his opponent will be decided this weekend.
“I have no fight with Mark Munoz,” he stated flatly. “My next fight will be based on…uh…I don’t know how much I can say, but I’ll be watchin’ the TV set Saturday night; put it that way.”
For those who aren’t picking up what Chael is throwing down, he’s inferring that he’ll get the winner of Michael Bisping versus Jason Miller. Hopefully it’s Bisping (sorry Mayhem) so we can stop hearing “The Count” opine about how he thinks he can beat Anderson and that he deserves his shot. Besides that, despite his comments that he’d love to face Miller, it might get awkward for Chael to have to fight a former teammate with whom he shares a manager.
