Steroids in MMA
Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

In Spite of Financial Difficulties FEG Moving Full Speed Ahead with DREAM 16

(Well, they’ve definitely felt the cutbacks in the creative lab.)

It looks like FEG is giving this MMA thing one last try before calling it quits.

The Japanese organization today released the poster for its DREAM 16 event and if it’s any indication of who will be fighting on the card, it looks like Tatsuya Mizuno, Caol UnoShinya AokiHiroyuki TakayaIkuhisa Minowa, Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto, Gegard MousasiKazushi Sakuraba and Hideo Tokoro will all fight on its upcoming September 25 card.

If we’ve learned anything from the past, though, its that the Japanese are crafty marketers and they often say one thing and do another.

Take for example this DREAM 14 poster, which boasted that the event would feature Yamamoto, Nick Diaz, Marius Zaromskis, Aoki, Tatsuya Kawajiri and Katsunori Kikuno. When the smoke cleared, the only two who actually fought were Kid and Diaz, so take that for what it’s worth.

(Now THAT’S a poster.)

And remember DREAM 15? It was supposed to feature a heavyweight showdown between Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski  Ricco Rodriguez that never came to fruition.

I guess we’ll know more in the coming weeks when the bouts are confirmed, but I guess DREAM isn’t letting the fact that its having issues paying its fighters interfere with the planning of its shows.

nasty nate, when anderson silva makes 250,000 to act like an asshole and jump around I doubt he gives a fuck whether my boss decides to toss me another 50 bucks at the end of the week. I watch these dudes to be entertained, not to be empathetic. Although Im sure when you see a vicious knockout the first thing you say is, I want to be empathetic and I just hope to Jeebus that this man is ok, I dont. I appreciate what these fighters go thru, but no I dont care what they get paid or even if they do. Its not my problem and "learning sympathy" or whatever the shit you said, isnt gonna make these scumbag promoters pay up anyway. But keep praying to Allah that Jesse Taylor gets payed by impact, cause I bet it'll help.

I think it would be beautiful to see knees on the ground more in mma .Would it stop the "world class"{ #} wrestlers cuddling up mmm maybe not but it`d give em sumpin to think about .Fuckin huggers .Attempts to finish the fight, yellow card, Yuji Shamada fuck even Antoni ,let him slap some kids Earnie Dingoe style.

In response to, "You don't give a shit if these guys get paid." WTF, Yeah it would be nice to watch fights all day, everyday, but I do have morals and I do know what kind of preparation and pain these fighters put into their training camps! Get some sympathy and learn some empathy, how would you like to train for 2 months and fight a hard fight for free! People have necessities and families to provide for, have some heart man!

Crafty marketers or cut-throat? Yeah, the Wanderlei move w/the UFC was slick, but it was also ruthless! Not paying fighters is merciless! And, not delivering on fighters when they should is just pitiful. I'm not saying I won't watch it, I'm just saying that there are better ways to do business, and their company has been hurt from the way that they handle business!

I can never understand why anyone would want even the worst MMA org to fold. Can we be honest for a second? You dont give a shit if these guys get paid. You want to see good fights. And if I could watch Bellator one week, UFC the next, then dream, then strikeforce, I'd be happy as shit. Any MMA fan would. Lets just hope they get this shit sorted out so we can see more quality fights.

The Japanese are crafty employers and they often say one thing and do another. Like, not pay.

top guys=top Asian fighters in the context of my comment.
jgrant- August 19, 2010 at 5:41 pm
I really hope DREAM folds so only top guys (like Okami) get respect and we can stop acting like the rest matter. I'm all from more international fighters but I think it's pretty clear Japan has reached its full potential w/ MMA talent.

Turns out they can't compete without bout fixing/gimmick fights/cans. Who woulda thought?
DazedNConfused- August 19, 2010 at 5:35 pm
I hope they can actually make some of the fights happen. I really would hate a world where the UFC controls everything.
