Predictable or not, UFC fans are still happy to open their wallets for the privilege of watching Georges St. Pierre thoroughly dominate his opponents for 25 minutes. According to a new report by Dave Meltzer, UFC 158 is expected to be one of the greatest pay-per-view showings of GSP’s career, with over 800,000 buys estimated. That figure would make UFC 158 the most-bought UFC event since last July’s UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II card (925,000 buys), and could put it slightly higher than 2011′s most-popular show — UFC 129 (“around 800,000 buys“), which was also headlined by Georges St. Pierre.
You can give some credit for Nick Diaz for hyping the fight in his own unique way, but St. Pierre remains the UFC’s most reliable PPV draw in the post-Lesnar era. Getting GSP to fight as often as possible would help turn the UFC’s downward-trending PPV momentum in a positive direction. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that will happen. According to St. Pierre’s trainer Firas Zahabi, GSP suffered an achilles injury before the fight, and will take some time off to rehab it; Zahabi said he didn’t want his star pupil to return to action for at least six months, though St. Pierre could return before then.
“He wants to take a couple of months off because his two fights were very close to each other and he wants to enjoy the summer,” Zahabi told TVA Sports. “We haven’t talked to the UFC yet, so we don’t know what their plans are for Georges yet.”
Get comfortable, Johny. You’re about to have some free time on your hands.

commentsAnd I don't get why defensive BJJ isn't scored and bottom offense is all but ignored.
I fail to see how you apply to GSP. He is one of the most active top fighters. I also add in he's not fighting cans, and everyone who fights him spends a ton of training on TD defense and bottom defense. Yet he still dominates. And people want can crusher elbows being dropped from the ceiling, ignoring that he is fighting what's supposed to be the cream that rose.
Further I don't get how those same GSP haters, refuse to see that the criteria you criticize him for winning with, is the same Hendricks won with. Except minus takedowns he was outclassed by condit. Even in top control, Condit was winning every other aspect of that fight. And your ok with Hendricks getting that decision? GSP dominated Diaz even on the feet. Look at fight metrics for standing, who saw that coming?
look in that pic tho how nasty nicks defense is. Nicks like impossible to hurt on the ground. GSP has some of the best Ground n pound and he couldnt even get a hand on nick. pretty brilliant watching nicks defense on his back in that fight, i don't think anyones better than him at defending themselves off their back.
definitely hilarious how busted up GSP was after the fight with the black eyes and ice pack on his head. and then nick strolls in all chill with no marks on his face, like still talking shit. classic. i really hope nick doesnt retire, i fucking love watching his fights, the jiu jitsu and boxing is so brilliant, he's really one of the best fighters i've seen anywhere.
GSP td, 2 out of 3
Sheilds 0 out of 6
GSP didn't even attempt one until the 3rd round. I'm not saying it was an exciting fight, probably the most boring of the 4, but it was not a wrestlefuck, nor lay and pray fight. Go back and watch it.... possibly for the first time if you think it was different.
Koscheck, pretty sure he jab caved in half his face.
Sheilds, Boxed him for 5 rounds.
Condit, he did strike with him, but is more a counter striker so volume is lower but accuracy was way higher. Did wrestle him, except this is MMA... its supposed to go to the ground also.
Diaz, he outclassed him standing and on the ground. advanced position, struck, controlled.
I honestly do not get the whine. Outside the fan boys screaming for blood, it was far from a fitch/shields lay and pray fight that so many try to convert it into.
Are you the same fuck heads that scream 'sweep the leg Johnny' 75x a fight at BWW's?
My point exactly. Amen.
Lets see at 15% each that's comes to.....
Ok Dana, just make that check to Caesar , that's with a C, Gracie......
