According to a press release just sent out by Strikeforce, Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers will face each other on Saturday, November 7th, in a Strikeforce event that will be broadcast on CBS (9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT). It was previously announced that the matchup would air on Showtime, which explains some of Strikeforce’s quietness over the last couple weeks — they were working out the details on this surprising change of plans. Now, Dana White won’t be able to crow about how his reruns outdraw Strikeforce’s live fights, and he probably won’t risk defeat by counter-programming Strikeforce with a live UFC event, especially considering the UFC already has events scheduled for the following two weekends.
Sounds like a great move for Coker & Co., but they’re not out of the woods yet. For one thing, no city or venue has been announced for "Fedor vs. Rogers" — their trusty fallback, the HP Pavilion in San Jose, is hosting a Sharks game that night — and no other fights have been booked for the show. But for now, Scott Coker is focusing on the positive:
We’ll keep you posted as details come together.

commentsI am well aware but most of it sucks, if he wants to remain in the top 10 HW he needs to fight some legit people. Where will he go if Strikeforcecloses? Dream, good maybe he can rematch Hong Man Choi or fight Jose Canseco. There is always other MMA in the US, doesnt mean its good. My point is, if Strikeforce folds and he doesnt go to the UFC, he should retire because he is a joke.
If you are one of these Fedor nut huggers you know nothing about MMA. He record is inflated, look into it and realize while he does has a couple of impressive wins, most were against people on the downside of their career, glorified LHW, or absolute cakes.
Dana says he plans on having 4 cards on network TV per year. I hardly think that will spell the end for Strikeforce.
Jesus Christ, it's even worse these days. You have trolls and counter-trolls and genuine saps on both sides. The flailing levels of emotions on display are truly incredible. And incredibly annoying.
On one hand you have the guy in one of the above posts who is using Fedor's name as an excuse to trash other fighters. And on the other hand you have another guy who is confusing Fedor with Bob Sapp.
Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
Also this is the perfect card to make Mayhem an international MMA star. They should have him fight Jake Shields for the interim Middleweight belt. Plus they need to have the Nick Diaz vs. Joe Riggs fight that we were supposed to get last time. Oh and Gegard Mousassi could take on Jacare for a rematch of their Dream fight for the Light Heavyweight belt. Jacare looks like he could do well in the Light Heavyweight division if he moves up in weight and God knows they need the talent in that division as well.
For the chicks, it should be Miesha Tate and Cyborg Santos or whoever they have lined up for the Women's title. This could be a great card...
"If you think he isn't the best heavy weight in the world your a fool."
If you don't know the difference between your, and you're... well... you know.
@ One Two
Strikeforce will only ever get viewers on "free"view. Oh, and UFC zero? Seriously? C'mon man, I'm too tired to continuously have to rattle the cages of dullards and half-wits. Dana's a prick, but a brilliant one. The UFC is T-H-E MMA world power, and it's in large part to him.
@ Fedor
Wow... talk about lose/lose situation. Either you thrash a tomato can, and everyone STILL calls you a "Brock-Ducker", or you get thrashed by a "relative" unknown and fade into obscurity taking Strikeforce with you. I have no respect for you anymore.
War huh dana?
Strikeforce 1,000
UFC zero
They called it a 1-armed Nelson on bloodyelbow's judo chop. They even wrote a very lengthy article about how amazing that technique was. But you know what they say. Opinions are like A-holes: everyone's got one and they all stink.
Anybody?
I think he lives in a house in Vegas with a bunch of dudes, has a sick beard, and an extremely unusual bald head...
(yes i know the show was already taped)
I smell an upset... even tho I still wanna see Brock vs. Fedor.
C'mon Brett, you got this...
And free live MMA is free live MMA. I'm down.
UFC Fight Night turned out to be alot better than expected..
Keep up the good work CP.
And OH SNAP NBC which was running Strikeforce programming that only drunks and insomniacs watched.
