UPDATED Strikeforce to Karo: ‘No Contract for You’

(Coker couldn’t take "The Heat")

According to MMAJunkie, Strikeforce has decided to pass on acquiring exiled UFC welterweight Karo Parisyan‘s services.

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker took the high road in explaining the two sides’ inability to come to terms on a deal.

"We had a cup of coffee," Coker said. "It didn’t work out. "He’s a great kid. We wish him luck."

The impetus behind Coker’s decision was likely a combination of Karo’s unreliability due to his alleged prescription drug addiction and anxiety disorder as well as his more than $40,000 per fight asking price.

He could always fight for the ~~Disgraced Former UFC Fighter~~ Impact Fighting Championships.

*UPDATE*
Someone from Impact Fighting Championships must be a CP reader. MMAJunkie is reporting that Parisyan has signed with IFC and will face Luis Dutra Jr. at the promotion’s July 10 show in Brisbane, Australia.

No no, lets get this straight... Karo HAD alot of talent. the game has evolved and he has not. He is no longer talented. He is, however, an addict. A head case. A chronic no-show. An egomaniac. He will not ever put together a win streak in an elite level organization - regardless of whether or not he is addicted to painkillers.

Maybe Karo, Warmachine, Filho and possibly even the elder Diaz should start a company where any one of them is billed to fight in a superfight and whichever one's head is least up it's own ass will show up that night.

At least somebody would get paid and at least we'd get to see one of those talented (using loosely with Warmachine) guys fight once in awhile.

It seems like Karo's ego is too big to deal with the evident fact that he's going to have to accept less money and prove that he's an asset to an organization rather than a liability.

Nobody's going to pay him his market worth (only considering his abilities) and no large organization is going to put him high up on the main card as a major draw until they are satisfied that he's actually going to show up to fight.

I think Karo is a narcissistic douche. Pathologically so. Great Judo for MMA - sure . . . worthless until he's reliable.

@Ramses. I've heard that Karo's asking price $45-50,000 to show plus an extra $45-50,000 win bonus. Considering his recent run, they may not have even had to pay his "show" money.

Lets face it even before this news, we all pretty much accepted the idea that Karo would pretty much never fight again. His list of issues and off the wall behavior is up there with War Machine. It stinks, he has a ton of talent, been in some great fights, but he has mental issues that he will never get resolved because he doesn't accept it yet. His ego is in the way.
