We were reluctant to show this video of two drunken idiot brothers reenacting a Chuck Liddell highlight reel, given the heat the WWE has gotten over the years from injuries sustained by children jumping off of ladders and hitting each other with chairs, and figured why show the dark side of MMA fans?

Then we thought, these assholes aren’t kids — they’re mentally challenged grown-ass men and what better PSA is there then to show the general public how fans shouldn’t participate in the sport. Commissions conduct pre-fight medicals for a reason and aspiring fighters wear headgear, handwraps and 12 to 14-ounce gloves when they spar, not jeans and four-ounce fight gloves to compete in a headlight-lit backyard. And besides maybe Junie Browning, War Machine, Drew Fickett, and Brett Rogers, legit fighters never spar or fight when they’ve been drinking.

With the growing popularity of the sport of mixed martial arts, it’s surprising that we haven’t seen more fighters in music videos. Maybe MTV just isn’t ready for cauliflower ear.

At any rate, there have been a few fighters who have appeared in a handful of videos.

The sixteenth of December in the year 2000 marked the last time the UFC made an appearance in the Land of the Rising Sun, and to celebrate, we’ve managed to pull some strings and dig up the entire pay-per-view event for your viewing pleasure. Because here at CP, we like to consider ourselves the cool step dads of the MMA blogosphere. Though we may not be around as much as we should, when we show up, you best believe we bring the nudie mags, cigarettes, and that funny smelling water that makes you all giggly and tired. Sure, your mom says it’s evil and thinks it killed your old dad, and sure, when you come to there’s change missing off the dresser, but at the end of the day, you’re just happy we brought you a gift, right?

We realized we haven’t had a good old fashioned caption contest in a while, so to make it up to you guys we figured we’d do three for the price of one. That way you can pick your favorite photo to mercilessly carve, rather than having us disappoint you by choosing one that dries out your creative juices. And you say that we never listen.

Between you, me, and the wall, I had a doozy of a dream last night, Potato Nation. Get this: a corn fed harvest mouse, a hooker, a nun, a Flemish peasant woman, whips, chains, whistles, yo-yo’s, a circus midget, my grandmother riding by on a bicycle giving me the finger, and a duck.

You think that’s crazy? Well it pales in comparison to the Super Bowl ad Kia managed to dream up, which features supermodel Adriana Lima, former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell, Motley Crue performing “Kickstart My Heart,” a legion of bikini-clad women, a magical dwarf (so close!!), and a cowboy riding a giant rhinoceros. Check out the video above, even if it isn’t related to MMA whatsoever. Did we mention it has Adriana Lima in a skimpy outfit? Yeah, that’s what we thought.

Kia announced this week that it will be running a “man’s dream” commercial during the Superbowl featuring model Adriana Lima, Chuck Liddell and Mötley Crüe flanked by an Optima racing around a track.

What they should call the commercial is “stuff old dudes like” since most of us non-Viagra dependent men aren’t Crüe fans, will never drive a Kia and have seen enough of Chuck with his shirt off the past year to do us a lifetime.

When FUEL TV stated that it will be dedicating a lion’s share of its programming to UFC-related shows as a result of its parent company Fox’s new multi-year contract with the promotion, most of us wondered what the quality of said shows would be like.

If this UFC Champions Roundtable special is any indication, it’s going to be pretty decent.

Hosted by Jay Glazer, the half-hour program that debuted during FUEL’s 24-hour New Year’s UFC marathon, featured a handful of UFC champs — past and present — who reflected on the early days in the sport and how far it’s come since Bonnar fought Griffin on SPIKE TV back in 2006.

When signing a business contract, one must be acutely aware of the fine print. Companies often try to sneak in language and terms which may later allow them to catch the other party off guard and emerge victorious in the battle for the almighty dollar.

I’d like to think that signing a contract for an MMA bout is a bit more straightforward. You’re told upfront in no uncertain terms that the opposing party’s objective is to physically hurt you. It’s a special breed that can accept those terms and believe in themselves enough to sign on the dotted line.

Despite that rampant self-confidence—or perhaps because of it—many fighters attempt to psyche out their opponent and gain the upper-hand before the first punch has even been thrown. When successful, it makes for an easier night’s work. When it fails, the would-be intimidator is left looking foolish. The comeuppance may come in a laugh at his expense or a lop-sided asswhooping, but either way it’s a sight to behold.

We’ve all seen this guy at some point in our lives. A big, lumbering, normally quiet and unassuming ox, who gets a few Jagerbombs into him and thinks he’s the streetfighting equivalent of Chuck Liddell. We like to think that’s how Tank Abbott got his start as a fighter.

MMA’s awkward march into the mainstream continues! Last night on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, lovable meathead Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) co-hosted a Halloween party, and showed off his Chuck Liddell costume. It isn’t clear if the pitcher of beer was meant to be part of it. A scene from the episode is above; a photo of Andy doing the classic Iceman pose is after the jump.

Fresh of his various appearances in our Hayabusa Cameo Contest, former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell popped up on Hawaii Five-0 recently, showcasing an entirely different side of his acting abilities, this time playing “cage fighter.” I’ll give all due credit to Alex O’Loughlin for not only fighting up a couple of weight classes, but for taking part in the most brutal charity match this side of Rocky vs. Thunderlips. And is it just us, or does Chucky boy have “that look” in his eyes yet again?

(You can make fun of your opponent’s voice, and you can trash his fighting style. But mock a man’s sideburns, and you’re asking for the worst beating of your life.)

When Dana White first attempted to end Chuck Liddell’s MMA career in 2009, the move was met with mixed feelings by the MMA community. Though it was admirable to see a fight promoter put his friend’s health before profits, it seemed unfair that Liddell had no say in his own retirement. After all he gave to the sport, didn’t he deserve to go out on his own terms?

At the time, Liddell was riding back-to-back knockout losses against Rashad Evans and Mauricio Rua. He had reached the end of the line as a top competitor, and didn’t need any more concussions in his life. And yet, he convinced White to give him one last dance against Tito Ortiz. Then, Ortiz pulled out of their fight, and Rich Franklin stepped in and knocked Chuck out again.

In a way, it was the saddest knockout of Chuck’s career because of how well he was doing up until he lost consciousness. He was clearly motivated and in great shape — but after 12 years of standing and banging, it only took a single off-balance hook to shut his brain off.

I’m sure Dana White regretted the way the situation turned out, and the role he played in allowing Liddell to suffer another head-trauma. And I hope he learned a lesson that he can now use in dealing with Matt Hughes.

I’ll be honest: I don’t know the complete back-story to this photograph that was posted on Luke Rockhold’s Facebook page. I’m assuming it is from one of the AKA weddings that took place earlier this year (Both Cain Velasquez and Josh Thomson got married this summer), but I may be wrong. It’s really not that important.

What is important is that, from this picture, I can gather two things. Number one, Jon Fitch is clearly the life of the party. Why fans consider the man boring I’ll never fully understand. And number two, Chuck Liddell is just high on life. It’s nice to see that despite retiring from MMA, Chuck Liddell still has that look in his eyes that made him a legend in the sport. If this man weren’t still getting tested by someone, I’d probably draw slightly different conclusions about the whole “high on _____” thing. But when you’re as rich and successful as Chuck Liddell, life can be one helluva drug.

If I’m ever at a UFC and Chuck Liddell is sitting next to me, I hope he doesn’t have an issue with me watching him instead of the fights, because sometimes “The Iceman” gets so into the action that he looks like he thinks he’s back in there throwing bungalows.

Sure, getting amped up watching fights is nothing new for Chocolate Al, but for some reason it never loses its lustre.

Well it’s about time that massive video library is being put to use. One of the most well-known and publicly talked about feuds in mixed martial arts will live forever on DVD and Blu-ray come August 30th, you know, in case you ever want to show your grandkids what human cock fighting looked like. Not sure about you, but wouldn’t this have been a bigger seller last year when Chuck Liddell coached opposite Tito Ortiz on The Ultimate Fighter 11? Rumor has it the DVD was supposed to be released much earlier but had to withdraw from stores due to a bulging disc and a cracked case.

One of our favorite online obsessions over the last month has been awesome people hanging out together, a tumblr photo blog devoted to celebrities mingling in unexpected combinations. (I mean, seriously: Dylan and Ali? Alice Cooper and Colonel Sanders? Epic.) Since there are aren’t any MMA fighters represented on the site, we decided to do some online crate-digging of our own and put together a CagePotato version of the “awesome people” photo-phenomenon. Note to coke fiends: When you go to an MMA show hopped up to the gills on the white stuff, try to sit still and blend in. Otherwise, expect to see your ridiculous ass on YouTube on Monday morning.

The video above that depicts an unnamed coke monster who thinks he’s taking part in a virtual reality bout, was shot by our friend John Joe O’Regan from Fighters Only at an event over the weekend in the UK. What’s funny is, even after the show’s promoter, UFC welterweight Mark Scanlon tells the guy to sit down and chill out, moments later he’s back on his feet pantomiming punches, chokes and bone snaps.

I didn’t know if this little anecdote was worth posting here, but since there has been a decent response to it, I figured the story would bring a smile to at least few faces on an otherwise uneventful Wednesday.

Last summer my club did a seminar with Scott Epstein and Chuck Liddell. Unfortunately, for reasons beyond my control, I didn’t get an interview with Chuck for CP, but I did get a chance to chat with him for a while during a break in the seminar. Since he is the most recognizable face in the sport and has been since my kids started understanding what MMA and the UFC were, they’ve always known who he was and were excited to know that “The Iceman”  was making an appearance in our little town in Ontario, Canada.

Fast-forward almost a year and my (now) six-year-old daughter hands me her school journal to read yesterday and is quick to point out the unintentionally hilarious entry that details my meeting with Chuck.

Chuck Liddell was on the latest episode of Fox Sports’ Barfly alongside actor and BJJ black belt Ed O’Neill (AKA Al Bundy) and host and author Mark Kriegel. Besides talking about the rise in popularity of the UFC in comparison to the drop in popularity of boxing, the trio touched on the former UFC light heavyweight champion and Hall-of-Famer’s recent retirement, which is when Chuck got a bit emotional.
