UFC 174 Snapchat Contest: The Winners!

In a way, we picked a great event to kick off our semi-recurring Snapchat contests, since most of you spent UFC 174 bored off your asses and looking for a way to pass the time. As promised, we’re giving away packs of Topps’ UFC Knockout 2014 cards to the best three snaps sent to cagepotatomma during the fights…

First place: girafarig, who sent us some amazing illustrations of the night’s winners, laid on top of her own face/body. Damn gurl, you killed it. We’re going to send you two packs of Knockout cards for your efforts. In fact, I’d like to post all of girafarig’s entries before we go any further…

UFC 174 Snapchat Contest: Send Us Your Post-Fight Reactions, Win a Pack of UFC Knockout 2014 Trading Cards From Topps!

As you might be aware, CagePotato recently started an official Snapchat account — cagepotatomma — where our loyal fans have been spamming us with weird drawings and photos of their televisions. And yes, the occasional blurry photo of male genitalia, but whaddya gonna do.

So here’s what I propose: During UFC 174: Johnson vs. Bagautinov this Saturday, I’d like all you Snapchatters out there to send us your immediate photo-reactions to any of the fights that take place. (Not videos, because we can’t share those.) We will re-post the best ones early next week, and award the top three entries a mini-box of UFC Knockout 2014 Trading Cards from Topps, which all contain an autographed card or a piece of memorabilia, and don’t even hit stores until June 25th.

Keep in mind that any photos you send us via Snapchat may be posted on our website/Facebook page/whatever, so please don’t send us anything you’ll regret later. Any other questions, let us know in the comments section or shoot ‘em to us on twitter. To help spur your imagination, we leave you with a random sampling of photos that our fans have already sent us, which continue after the jump. Come back to CagePotato tomorrow night for our liveblog of UFC 174, and happy snapping!

UFC Fight-Picking Contest: Win a Copy of ‘In the Blood’ Starring Gina Carano!

(Stay tuned for our Fight Flicks review of the movie, coming later this week.)

Today marks the home video release of In the Blood — that GIF-tacular action movie starring Gina Carano — which is now available on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Our dear friends at Anchor Bay Films have hooked us up with a Combo Pack that contains the flick in all three formats, and we figured we’d put it up for grabs in another UFC fight-picking contest. You want it? Well listen up.

This Saturday, UFC Fight Night 42: Henderson vs. Khabilov goes down at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Check out the fight card here, and submit a prediction for any fight on the lineup in the comments section below. The most accurate guess will win the In the Blood combo pack. Your picks should be in this format…

The Unofficial ‘UFC Coloring Book’ Art Contest: And the Winners Are…

(One of our favorite entries from Laura Nicholson, who we’ve disqualified because she’s friggin’ ALF and we’re inherently biased towards her.)

First off, thanks to everybody who drew new tattoos for Alan Belcher in last week’s unofficial UFC coloring book art contest, and thanks to Masato Toys for the inspiration! We’ve selected three winners who you can see after the jump. Honorable mentions go to troll-face, Bieber, and this guy. Enjoy…

Hunt vs. Bigfoot Fight-Picking Contest: Win a Sakuraba T-Shirt From Scramble!

We still have a couple of those awesomely official Kazushi Sakuraba t-shirts from Scramble laying around, so how bout we put ‘em up for grabs in one more fight-picking contest? This weekend in Brisbane, Australia, hard-hittin’ heavyweights Mark Hunt and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva will meet in the five-round main event of UFC Fight Night 33. Also, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua returns against James Te Huna, Pat Barry slugs it out with Soa Palelei, and Ryan Bader faces Anthony Perosh. (Are you noticing an Oceania vs. The World theme, here?)

To make things a little more interesting for this contest, we’re going to tweak the rules a little bit: Instead of having you submit predictions for the main event only, we’re going to allow you to submit a prediction for any fight on the card. The two closest guesses will win the Saku shirts. Your picks should be in this format…

Caption Contest: Win an Official Kazushi Sakuraba T-Shirt From Scramble!

(Image courtesy of Scramble. Buy the shirt for $44.99 right here, or £29.99 for our Euro-homies.)

Even today, the name “Saku” can induce feelings of euphoria in old-school MMA fans. Arguably the most important Japanese fighter in the sport’s history, Kazushi Sakuraba‘s fight career embodied the twin virtues of virtuosic creativity and never-say-die gameness. He is, was, and forever will be a legend. And now, you can buy his t-shirt.

Our friends at Scramble have kicked off an official collaboration with Sakuraba, beginning with the t-shirt you see above. Made with Saku’s full cooperation and blessing, the super soft 100% washed cotton shirts feature his stylized “KS” logo on the front — which he’s been rocking on his shorts since his PRIDE days — and the back of the shirt also sports several references to Sakuraba’s nicknames, including IQ Wrestler, Gracie Hunter, and 39. It’s pretty frickin’ sweet to be honest. If you want one for yourself, buy it here…or, take your chances with this week’s caption contest.

After the jump is a Photo of the Year candidate from this weekend’s Alvarez/Chandler rematch that reminded me of Saku just for its sheer bloodiness. Come up with a clever caption and submit it to the comments section of this post by Thursday night at midnight PT. The three best captions will all win a Sakuraba t-shirt, courtesy of Scramble. We’ll announce the results on Friday. Let us know if you have any questions, and good luck!

‘Velasquez vs. Dos Santos III’ Fight-Picking Contest: Win a Combat Line T-Shirt From Fear the Fighter!

(FTF’s Kickboxing tee. Check out the rest of their Combat Line shirts here.)

This Saturday at UFC 166 in Houston, heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and ex-champ Junior Dos Santos will meet for the third time in their best-of-seven series. Velasquez is currently sitting at a 2-1 favorite, thanks to the 25-minute whooping he put on JDS during their last fight. But as we’ve seen so many times in the past, heavyweight bouts can end with one punch. So how will things end this time?

Shoot us your predictions for the Velasquez vs. Dos Santos fight in the comments section of this post, and the most accurate guess will score a Combat Line t-shirt from our good buddies at Fear the Fighter. Your predictions should look something like this…

CagePotato T-Shirt Design Contest: We Have a Winner!

(Was there ever any doubt?)

Thanks to all 426 of you who took the time to vote for your favorite finalist in our “CagePotato’s Next Top T-Shirt” design contest. The winner, with 32.2% of the popular vote, was Ben S.’s “Fryed Tater” design. Congrats bro! We’ll be in touch if/when we decide to make your funny little dream a reality. For now, we’ll send you one of our existing CagePotato t-shirts for your efforts. And what the heck, we’ll send CPtees to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers as well: Daniel S. (“Fightin’ Dudes,” 20.7% of the vote) and Bobby (“Nothing to F@%k With,” 14.6% of the vote). To see the full results breakdown, please consult this pie chart or this bar graph.

Now tell us the truth: If we produce those “Fryed Tater” shirts, you’d wear one, right?

‘Punch Buddies’ T-Shirt Design Contest: In Which Our Winner Is Decided in a Hail of Bullets [VIDEO]

(Props: YouTube.com/TrashTalkinKids)

The wait is finally over. After keeping you guys on pins and needles for like a full month, we have a winner in our Urijah Faber t-shirt design contest with Punch Buddies. Watch the stunning conclusion above, in which Urijah, Stephan Bonnar, and Rachelle Leah take the finalists out to the desert and eliminate the losers one by one in the most hardcore way possible.

When the dust settles, they’re left with two designs that they can’t decide between — so Punch Buddies is producing both of them. Since the surfing California Kid shirt was created by one of PB’s own artists, our congrats really go to CagePotato reader Peter Starwalt, who went all the way with his beach/shark-themed design. Congrats, man! Your design is going to be on an actual MMA t-shirt, and you might actually see Faber wearing it someday! We’ll be dropping you a line shortly, because your wild ride is only getting started.

Also: Remember when I said we had a surprise for everybody whose design was featured in this contest? Well check it out: Urijah printed out and signed all your designs, and I’ll be sending them out to you guys over the next couple weeks. Keep an eye on your inboxes; we’ll be in touch.

‘Fightville’ UFC 145 Fight-Picking Contest: The Winners…

Thanks to everybody who entered our UFC 145 fight-picking contest last week! Many entered, but only three were skilled enough to claim the Fightville prize-packages, which include the movie’s official t-shirt from No Mas and a signed poster. The top three pickers were MoshuDragon, Alan K, and TheGangi, who predicted all three winners correctly, and picked unanimous decision victories for Jon Jones and Mac Danzig. Since MoshuDragon also guessed a first-round stoppage for Travis Browne, we’ll call him the unofficial first-place winner and throw in a CagePotato t-shirt.

If your name has been called, please send your real name, address, and shirt-size to contest@cagepotato.com and we’ll hook you up ASAP. Follow Fightville on Facebook and Twitter, and watch it now on iTunes.
