Check Out: Dana White’s UFC on FX 1 Video Blog

(“Get a load of this bullshit.”)

Dana White threw together a short and sweet video blog to commemorate the UFC’s first show on FX tonight and it had a few cool behind-the-scenes glimpses, perhaps most notably the moment he found out that Mark Munoz would be replaced by Michael Bisping against Chael Sonnen.

Some highlights:

• Dana says the UFC 143 countdown show (which debuts tonight) is going to be crazy

• He denies using paper-thin doors on TUF for dramatic effect

• Apparently copyright infringements, including playing Rage Against the Machine and wearing a Sons of Anarchy sweatshirt during the vlog aren’t a big deal

• Jim Miller’s wife hates his moustache

• Melvin Guillard is cool with Jim

• Dana loves the Neer-Ludwig fight

Check out the video after the jump.

Dana White UFC 114 Video Blog: Guess Who Likes Our Photoshops?

(Video courtesy of YouTube/UFC)

So, I attended the UFC press conference in Toronto yesterday and I had a brief chance to interview UFC president Dana White and his company’s new director of Canadian operations, Tom Wright.

During my interview with White, I had him cracking up with a few Photoshops I brought along and asked him to identify the names of ten famous Ontarians depicted in a photo collage. He got all but one correct: Neil Young, but in his defense, it was a trick question as Young was born in Manitoba and grew up in Ontario.

The Cage Potato ‘Rampage Dry Hump’ Video Is Officially Big Time

How do you know when you’ve really accomplished something in life?  You get on the Dana White UFC 100 video blog.  Then it’s all groupies and limousines after that, or so we’re hoping.

Here’s the latest installment of the Danavlog, and you can skip all the other crap and go straight to the end, where he watches our now world famous video of "Rampage" Jackson dry humping Cage Potato correspondent Heather Nichols.  Dana laughs it off with a that-crazy-Rampage kind of expression, but it seems like Heather wasn’t quite as amused.  Si.com talked to her about what was going through her mind during this incident, and she assured them that no, she wasn’t enjoying it, but dammit, she was just trying to be a professional and get the job done, by God.  For the record, she took it better than either of us would have.  We just don’t have what it takes to be sexually assaulted by a pro fighter, at least not after that crazy night in Minsk with Andrei Arlovski.

UFC 100 Danavlog #2: More Employee Ball-Busting, Holly Madison Dons the Octagon Girl Outfit

In this installment of Dana White’s UFC 100 video blog we finally get an explanation for why the inaugural issue of the UFC Magazine features the UFC president on the cover in the pose of a fighter instead of, you know, actually putting a fighter on there.  As White tells Mark Coleman, the original idea was to put a plethora of big name fighters on the cover, but the photo turned out to be “the worst thing you’ve ever seen in your life.”  Apparently their photographer only snapped that one shot and called it a day, so they were forced to use an old Dana White photo.  Riiiiight.

Also in this episode, Holly Madison brings a little blonde ambition to the Octagon girl bikini while White regales her with stories of the UFC’s early years, and a blue-blood UFC lawyer gets a parking space upgrade.  Just another day in paradise.

The UFC 100 Danavlog, Part 1: Right to Porn

So you’re wondering what life is like in the UFC offices this week, what with their biggest event of all time coming up on Saturday.  Must be pretty crazy.  A lot of panicked running around, working into the early hours of the morning making sure Brock Lesnar doesn’t say anything homophobic to reporters, while also ensuring that Thiago Alves actually shows up on time for his flight to Vegas.  Why, it’d hardly be surprising if they couldn’t find the time to do a video blog for this one at all, right?

UFC 99 Fight Day Danavlog, Parts 1+2

After a three-day delay, the UFC 99 fight-day installment of the Dana White Video Blog was finally uploaded to youtube.com/ufc, and the massive two-parter feels like any other classic double-album — sure, it would have been "better" if it were edited down to a single video, but then you wouldn’t get the scope of the Danavlog’s ambition. In the first, more boring half (shown above), Dana roams the streets of Cologne, taking a lot of pictures with fans and getting a taste of the Germans’ particular brand of crazy. (See: short-shorts guy at 0:04, crazy dog man at 1:10-1:28, and blue afro lady at 4:57.) He also spends time explaining how this whole UFC thing works to curious German camera crews, winding his way through an endless receiving line at the arena, and congratulating Stefan Struve, who’s still sore about that Dos Santos fight. Anyway, you don’t need to watch it unless you’re a Danavlog completist, but the backstage action picks up in part two…

Videos: The Danavlog Enters Final Preparations for UFC 99

With UFC 99 now just a couple hours away (don’t forget to join us for a little afternoon liveblogging) we get a glimpse of some of Dana White’s latest antics in the Vaterland.  He kicks a little knowledge on German history, is entranced by a sausage, and raps with his fighters a bit just to see how everyone’s family is doing.  Notice the difference in attitude between Dan Hardy and Marcus Davis near the end there.  Seems like "The Outlaw" may have just realized that he’s talked himself into a beating, while Davis sounds like he is in the beginning stages of a premeditated murder.  This ought to be fun to watch.  Part two is after the jump.

Videos: Baroni Responds to Riggs, Kimbo Does the Dana White Vlog, + More

Well that sure didn’t take long.  Less than twenty-four hours after we posted Joe Riggs’ comments about Phil Baroni’s past and possibly present steroid use, Baroni has fired back hard in an interview with Cage Writer’s Steve Cofield.  The steroid accusations make Baroni so mad that he comes back after his shower to talk more shit on Riggs, making an issue out of “Diesel’s” own history with drug use after saying that Riggs "crossed the line."  Combine that with the uncomfortable sexual remarks peppered throughout this video, and Baroni admitting that even he doesn’t know where his rants are going sometimes, and you have yourself just another fun day inside Xtreme Couture.

After the jump, Kimbo Slice makes his first appearance on a Dana White vlog, and we suddenly look like some real prescient motherfuckers up in this piece.

Video: Dana White Might Be Overcompensating For His Homophobic Slur

Instead of releasing a timely, orderly stream of video blogs for UFC 98, Dana White and co. opted to do a couple before the event and then a multi-part epic afterwards.  As with most multi-part epics, the majority is forgettable stuff that should have been edited out.  But around the eight-minute mark in this video things get interesting when Dana White does an interview with Edge Magazine and claims that everyone from fighters to fans would be totally cool with an openly gay athlete in the UFC.

This is obviously not true, and Dana White knows it’s not true.  What’s amazing is not that he says it anyway, but that he thinks pretending to be ignorant of homophobia in the world of men’s pro sports is the best way to smooth things over with the gay community.   It isn’t.  It’s blatant pandering, and the effect is actually worse than admitting that the world of MMA would have a tough time adjusting to an openly gay fighter.
