UFC Man-Cave Guy vs. Diaz Brother Fight-Barn Guy: Who’s More Dangerously Obsessed?

(Props: UFCORIGINALFAN via The UG)

So you think you’re a die-hard MMA fan, just because you buy most of the UFC pay-per-views and because you have a few fruity-ass Georges St. Pierre trading cards in your sock drawer? Let me show you what real obsession is, bro.

A couple of videos came to our attention today, both of them shot by MMA fans whose devotion to cage-fighting has begun to bleed into their surroundings. One is high-budget, one is low-budget, but they’re both — in their own special ways — kind of creepy. (We’ll let you decide which obsessed fan is scarier in the comments section.)

First up, the “Cave of MMAn” featured above, in which a longtime Ultimate Fighting mark shows off what has to be the most elaborate UFC fandom HQ ever built on a private residence. You will see…

- A Star Wars-style text-crawl intro, letting us know that we’re about to enter some serious geek territory.

- A chain-link Octagon, which doubles as an outdoor deck, an Octagon-themed bar (“The Octobar”), and a Octagan-themed coffee table.

- An entry portal that features TapouT decals on glass and a gloved fist punching through the side of the house.

- The phrases “NEVER LEAVE IT IN THE HANDS OF THE JUDGES” and “AS REAL AS IT GETS” stenciled near the ceiling.

- An actual Octagon canvas on the floor, which appears to be the real deal, judging by the visible blood-stains.

Obligatory Ronda Rousey Hate-Spewing of the Day: “If GSP Wasn’t So Canadian, He’d Be Unknown”

I know this barely constitutes news at this point, but being that anything even hinting at Ronda Rousey seems to be a big hit on this site (mainly so you readers can take a steaming dump on her in the comments section), I am going to set my journalistic integrity — a term I just stumbled across on Wikipedia — aside for the moment and pass along Rousey’s words in regard to another hot topic around here: Canadians. Specifically, how Canadians will love anything that is Canadian because it is Canadian, and how that relates to current welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre.

Rousey recently spoke with The Las Vegas Review Journal and once again went at the champ, who she has been bashing for years now:

Everybody keeps coming up to me and saying, ‘Oh, do you think if you didn’t look such a way, people would like you so much?’ I’m like, ‘Dude, if GSP was butt ugly, you wouldn’t want to know who he is so much.’ I think he lucked out a lot that he’s Canadian. I love Canadians. They are the coolest, nicest, most patriotic people, and they will support their countrymen no matter what, and I think that’s commendable. But if GSP wasn’t really good-looking, and really Canadian, he would be really unknown.

Wha?!!: Jake Shields Suspended for Six Months, Fined $5,675, Ed Herman Win Overturned to NC [UPDATED]

(We don’t mean to insinuate, but…)

Before you even go there, no, Ambien is not a banned substance. At least not to our knowledge. But the truth is, not much has been revealed in the few hours since it was made public that Jake Shields was just suspended for six months after testing positive for a banned substance in his UFC 150 post-fight drug test. The situation is a bit bizarre to say the least, with no details currently available as to the alleged substance that Shields was busted for, or why it took two months for this test to be made public, or when the suspension was handed out. All that we know is that Shields’ has already released a statement apologizing for actions:

To my friends, fans and the UFC,

Prior to my professional bout at UFC 150 in Denver, Colorado, I used a substance prohibited by Colorado Boxing Commission rules.

This was a mistake that I fully regret. I have shared this issue with my family and the UFC and I have apologized to them and now I also apologize to you, the fans. I promise this will never occur again in my fighting career.

I accept the Boxing Commission’s decision for a six-month suspension, which will expire in February. I ask that you accept my apology. I will be back fighting soon, and hope that the fans of MMA will support me until that time.

Given Shields’ training partners, one might assume that the substance Shields was busted for would be of the herbal variety. You know, the sticky icky. Feeling irie on fight night, mon. Nawmsayin? Anyone?
