Rafael Dos Anjos Now Capable of Literally Hitting Donald Cerrone’s Fists With His Face

(Dos Anjos’ updated profile picture via UFC.com)

Currently riding a four-fight win streak over such notable names as Evan Dunham and Mark Bocek among others, you could argue that Rafael Dos Anjos would be in line for a title shot should he get past Donald Cerrone tonight. Not that he’s favored to, but considering the last two people to beat “Cowboy” received title shots thereafter, a win for Dos Anjos would easily place him on the shortlist of contenders to say the least. Unfortunately for Cerrone, Dos Anjos will be bringing a secret weapon with him into the octagon tonight. No, not TRT, we’re talking about HIS TERMINATOR JAW.

It turns out that after Clay Guida broke the Brazilian’s jaw back at UFC 117 in 2010, Dos Anjos underwent a surgery to ensure that he would never suffer the same injury again ever. “Nowadays, I have 20 screws and four titanium plates. Since then I broke two hands with my chin: Tibau’s and (Anthony) Njokuani’s,” Dos Anjos tells MMAJunkie, bringing to question why someone would be allowed to compete in a combat sport with metal-reinforced body parts.

While it was long believed that Kimbo’s beard was the strongest substance legally allowed to be attached to a UFC fighter, Dos Anjos’ shocking revelation has opened the floodgates for MMA fighters with prosthetic appendages to rally for their rightful place in the UFC. Join us after the jump to see what we mean.

Donald Cerrone Slapped With Misdemeanor Assault Charge for ‘Boat Rage’ Incident

(Cowboy, on a boat, in happier times.)

CagePotato.com has confirmed that UFC lightweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was charged with Third Degree Assault, following an alleged physical altercation in Grand County, Colorado on June 29th. According to a statement released to CagePotato by the Grand County Colorado Sheriff’s Department:

Donald A. Cerrone, 30 years of age, has been charged with Third Degree Assault by a summons to court, and it is a Class One Misdemeanor. There is no warrant for him at this time. Mr. Cerrone and another person, Jeffrey S. Aley, were involved in a boating rage incident (similar to road rage but by use of boats) on Lake Granby. The incident escalated to the point where Mr. Cerrone assaulted Mr. Aley. Mr. Aley was also charged with Reckless Operation of a boat and Reckless Endangerment, a Class Three Misdemeanor. The case is still ongoing, and has not been concluded in court.

This isn’t the first time that Cerrone has let his temper get away from him outside of the Octagon. In October 2010, Cerrone derailed an MMA event in New Mexico when he punched headliner Marcus Sursa, the ex-boyfriend of Cerrone’s then-girlfriend.

Cerrone last competed in May, when he scored a unanimous decision win against KJ Noons at UFC 160, and he’s slated to fight Rafael Dos Anjos next Wednesday at UFC Fight Night 27: Condit vs. Kampmann 2. We’ll update you when more details come to light about his latest misadventure.

UFC Booking Roundup: These UFC on Fox Sports 1 Cards Are Downright Stacked

(Stacked enough to mandate a *formal* paisley vest.)

If you somehow still aren’t excited about the UFC on Fox Sports 1 cards, then perhaps this new batch of fight booking announcements will be enough to change your mind. Let’s start off with what is reportedly the co-main event of UFC on Fox Sports 1: Condit vs. Kampmann (aka UFC on Fox Sports 1:2). It appears that top lightweights Donald Cerrone and Rafael dos Anjos have been booked for that honor.

After a rough start to his UFC career, dos Anjos will be riding a four fight win streak into this bout. His last fight was just over two weeks ago, where he edged out Evan Dunham in a very close fight at UFC on FX 8. Likewise, Cerrone last competed almost two weeks ago at UFC 160, where he absolutely dominated KJ Noons on his way to a unanimous decision victory.

This looks like a great fight that will have a direct impact on the UFC lightweight division. If you disagree, well, just realize that not every fight can be Fitch vs. Askren. Sometimes, people like to watch fights because they’ll be fun and entertaining.

Speaking of UFC on Fox Sports 1 booking updates…

Gnarly Photos of the Day: Mark Hunt’s Broken Toe, Donald Cerrone’s Gashed-Up Elbow

UFC 160 may have been the bloodiest, ugliest UFC event since “Fight for the Troops” in 2008. MMAJunkie has a gallery of gory photo-highlights that you should check out if you have the stomach for that sort of thing, but we wanted to pass along a couple gruesome shots in particular.

Above, you’ll see the destroyed toe of Mark Hunt, who says he broke the piggy during the first round of his co-main event fight against Junior Dos Santos. As Hunt wrote on his Facebook fan page: “Thanks for the support apologies about the result junior was to slick for me. Got a broken toe first round and had no movement, but like i said before if i am going out i am out on my back thanks again 1luv.”

And “go out on his back” he certainly did.

After the jump: Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone shows off the literal aftermath of figuratively breaking his elbow off in KJ Noons‘s ass.

Ben vs. Jared: UFC 160 Edition

(Cain doesn’t see an enormous head. He sees a big, beautiful, blood-piñata, just waiting to burst open and spill its bounty. / Photo via MMAFighting.com)

BG and Danga are back mahfuckas, baaaaaaaaaaaaam! [*cough*] Excuse me. What I meant to say was, UFC 160 goes down tomorrow night in Las Vegas, so CagePotato founding editor Ben Goldstein and staff writer Jared Jones have teamed up once again to discuss all the important themes surrounding the event. Which heavyweight fight on the main card is more likely to end in an upset? Should we write off KJ Noons as nothing more than UFC shark-bait? What’s a Nurmagomedov gotta do to get some respect around here? Read on, and throw down your own opinions in the comments section.

It seems pretty obvious that the UFC is trying to set up Dos Santos vs. Velasquez III, but who stands the better chance of throwing a wrench in their plans, Hunt or Silva?

Jared: ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS. The last I checked, Mark Hunt was riding high on the most unexpected win streak in UFC history, turned his last opponent’s jaw into mashed potatoes, and will now be harboring the kind of silent-but-deadly rage that can only be brought about by jet lag. “Bigfoot” is coming off an upset win over a sans testosterone-abusing Overeem, sure, but picking him over the man, the myth, the pseudo-Mexican who reenacted the rock scene from Cannibal Holocaust on him almost a year ago to the day? No thanks, my dude.

Ben: I hate to agree with this jackass — and how dare you try to persuade me by linking to a track from Primus’s underrated Rhinoplasty EP, Jared — so for the sake of argument, I’ll go ahead and say ARE *YOU* KIDDING *ME* WITH THIS?? Mark Hunt has built up a dubious win streak slinging haymakers against guys who allowed him to do so. Junior Dos Santos is far too disciplined to become another victim of the same old rock-’em-sock-’em Super Samoan routine. In a brawl, Hunt has a chance against anybody. But this won’t be a brawl — it’ll be boxing match, and JDS is about as good as they come in that department.

And sure, Hunt has scored a string of upsets against guys like Cheick Kongo and Stefan Struve. Meanwhile, Antonio Silva has scored far more unexpected and dramatic upsets against guys like Fedor Emelianenko and the aforementioned ‘Reem. Bigfoot has heart for days, and fists big enough to dummy up anybody in the heavyweight division on any given night, including the current champion. How many times are you gonna sleep on this guy? #BigfootEra

Today in “JERRY RIPS!”: Greg Jackson Finally Loses His Goddamned Mind

(Props: Jerry Rips)

The latest installment of “hilarious UFC audio you weren’t supposed to hear” features bad deaf-jokes, botched game-plans, excessive cursing, and Greg Jackson reaching the absolute limits of human frustration. (As one YouTube commenter already pointed out, Jackson does indeed sound a little like Timothy Treadwell when he’s upset.) Some highlights…

0:00: Some asshole wonders why Matt Hamill needs walkout music if he’s deaf. HA! The joker in question acknowledges that the joke was mean…then repeats it, in case you missed it the first time.
1:10: ”Spread the fuckin’ legs. Fuck. Fuckin’.”
1:53: Hamill’s coach expresses his disappointment in a loving, supportive way.
2:37: “Elbows! Whrrsthgoddmnelbws?? Shut the fuck up. Shut up.”
3:54: “Tito! Get up! Try! You gotta try, Tito!”
4:29: “Well, he wants you to hit him. That’s cool.”
4:49: Donald Cerrone head-kicks Nate Diaz to the mat, then refuses to follow him down, as steam blasts out of Greg Jackson’s ears.
5:23: Donald Cerrone trips Nate Diaz to the mat, then refuses to follow him down, as Greg Jackson has a massive coronary and pisses himself.
5:40: Donald Cerrone trips Nate Diaz to the mat, then refuses to follow him down, as Greg Jackson’s head literally launches off his body.
5:46: “GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! GO FIRST! GO FORWARD! FORWARD!”
6:18: Jackson calls Nate Diaz by his brother’s name, possibly on purpose just to fuck with him.
6:35: Richard. Fucking. Perez.

‘UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Silva’ Picks Up Cerrone vs. Noons, Teixeira vs. Bader

(It is reported that Cerrone’s final words were “Hold my beer, and watch this.” / Photo via Sherdog)

Two more big matchups have been added to the already-beefy UFC 160 lineup, which is slated for May 25th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. In addition to the previously reported Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Silva heavyweight championship headliner and Junior Dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem, the card will feature…

- Donald Cerrone vs. KJ Noons (lightweight): The always entertaining “Cowboy” Cerrone, who followed up his ass-whuppin’ at the hands of Anthony Pettis last month by nearly falling to his death in a recent rock-climbing incident*, will welcome former Strikeforce boxing-specialist KJ Noons to the Octagon. Noons has hit a rough stretch lately, losing four of his last five fights, all by decision. His last match ended in a split-decision loss against Ryan Couture.

- Glover Teixeira vs. Ryan Bader (light-heavyweight): Coming off his decision win over Rampage Jackson at UFC on FOX 6 — his third-straight win in the UFC and 18th-straight overall — the much-hyped Teixeira will get another solid test in the form of Ryan Bader, who choked out Vladimir Matyushenko in just 50 seconds at the same event.

We expect Cerrone and Teixeira to be solid favorites in these fights. Anybody predicting an upset?

* Don’t blame me, I wanted to go bowling.
