Georges St-Pierre Spotted in Miami, Partying Like a Semi-Retired Ex-Champion [VIDEO]

(Props: TMZ via MMAMania)

So here’s former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre dancing with (or at least near) some chick at a South Beach nightclub. And it raises an important question — can a man ever look cool dancing with a drink in his hand? This has troubled me my entire life. It’s like, you want to have your drink with you because alcohol is the only thing that reduces the crushing anxiety of being at a nightclub, but when you’re dancing with your drink, you’re very aware of it spilling, either on your brand new shirt, or on the female you’re dancing with (or trying to dance with), or on some meathead who wants to prove his manhood by overreacting when a half-ounce of Corona is splashed on his shoes.

And so, one of your hands/arms is almost completely demobilized, while you try to look cool moving the other parts of your body. That never works, and it only makes you more self-aware and uncomfortable. In other words, consuming alcohol turns down the volume on anxiety, but holding the drink itself brings it back up again. Even GSP — one of the baddest, sauvest men walking the Earth — seems to be somewhat stumped by this riddle. You can be the toughest dude on the planet, but as soon as you start bobbing to the music holding your beer, you’re just another regular goof.

It’s obvious that Georges St-Pierre enjoys the act of dancing, because honestly, why else would he be doing it? Dancing is essentially a human mating-ritual, something we do to attract sexual partners through the display of physical dexterity and confidence. But if you’re rich and famous and good-looking, people will want to fuck you anyway, no matter what you do. You don’t have to dance. You can just kick back and order expensive bottles at a VIP table, nodding at women to make them come over. What if GSP put his drink down on the floor and just started doing this? I think that would make for a much funnier TMZ video. But the thing is, that dark-haired girl wouldn’t laugh at him, or walk away. She’d raise her arms and go “whooooo!” and probably start twerking or something. I don’t know. It looks fun, doesn’t it?

Jean Claude Van Damme Makes (And For Some Reason Releases) Creepy/Awesome Love Video Dedicated to Georges St. Pierre

(Props: brakus73)

Years ago, my dad saw a young Georges St. Pierre fight before I did. When I finally got a chance to see GSP in action, I agreed with my dad that he was like some Jean Claude Van Damme movie character come to life, what with his crazy kicks and foreign accent.

How awesome and funny would it be if Van Damme and his real fighter counterpart ever met, we laughed. Turns out, it’s just creepy.

Van Damme spent some time in Montreal with St. Pierre before UFC 154 working out, which is captured in this new video that he produced. We give Van Damme credit for being an actual athlete and for staying in amazing shape — and for, more than likely, being able to kick our asses — but he is creeping into Steven Seagal territory with this video.

While no one can approach the arrogance and outright fabrications of Seagal, Van Damme’s video does include a highlight reel mixing him acting in movies and St. Pierre fighting in real life. Ok, for writers of a certain age (mine) who grew up loving Van Damme movies, short-short splits on counter tops and all, the highlight reel is kind of dope.

Then you realize, “wait, is he actually drawing parallels between his movie roles and St. Pierre?” All that we can forgive the fifty-something actor. It is understandable that a Hollywood actor would try to get attention by jumping on to the MMA bandwagon. Van Damme also seems to be a legit fan of the sport and its athletes. It’s just that he may be too much of a fan of its athletes. Remember his creepy attempted make-out session with Fedor a few years ago?

Georges St. Pierre and Carlos Condit’s Eight Must-See UFC Fights [VIDEOS]

(Props: YouTube.com/UFC)

In advance of Georges St. Pierre‘s long-awaited return at UFC 154 on November 17th, the UFC has made four of the welterweight champ’s greatest performances available on YouTube, along with the last four fights from the interim champ, Carlos Condit. Unfortunately the videos aren’t embeddable, but you can use the handy player above to give yourself a refresher course on the following…

- GSP’s blitzkrieg of Jay Hieron in his Octagon debut at UFC 48.
- GSP’s rear-naked choke of Frank Trigg at UFC 54.
- GSP’s revenge-TKO of Matt Hughes to win his first title at UFC 65.
- GSP’s revenge-TKO of Matt Serra to reclaim the unified belt at UFC 83.
- Carlos Condit snatching a knockout victory from the jaws of defeat against Rory MacDonald at UFC 115.
- Condit’s highlight-reel knockout of Dan Hardy at UFC 120.
- Condit’s demolition of Dong-Hyun Kim at UFC 132.
- Condit’s controversial decision win over Nick Diaz at UFC 143.

And for a different take on GSP’s historic reign in the sport, check out lookoutawhale‘s classic “Bloodsport Karma” film after the jump. We know it’s a lot to watch, so feel free to take the rest of the day off.

UFC 154: St. Pierre vs. Condit — Extended Video Preview

On November 17th in Montreal, Georges St. Pierre returns to the Octagon from his year-and-a-half layoff, and honestly, it couldn’t come soon enough. When St. Pierre and Carlos Condit meet for the UFC welterweight belt at UFC 154, it will have been a full three months since the last time the UFC put on a title fight that wasn’t a total mismatch. That drought of superfights has been one of the reasons why MMA has simply felt less exciting lately, but finally, things are picking up again, and I can’t freakin’ wait.

We’ve been thinking about GSP vs. Condit for a hell of a long time, and the anticipation has reached that saturation point where we just want this damn thing to be over by now. St. Pierre says his knee isn’t a weak link anymore, he’s 100%, he’s “back better than ever.” And it’s never a good idea to doubt such a fantastic and disciplined athlete. But still…a hungry and motivated Carlos Condit is the last guy you want to face when you’ve been out of the game so long.

Speaking of welterweights, Johny Hendricks and Martin Kampmann will be squaring off in the co-main event. (Kampmann scores the best point in the promo interview by promising to kick Hendricks in the beard.) Could an impressive performance put one of these guys next in line? And who will come out on top? Check out the extended trailer above and let us know what you think.

UFC 137 Video: BJ Penn vs. Carlos Condit Hype Trailer, by ‘NicktheFace’

(Props: NicktheFace via MMAMania)

With four consecutive wins including back-to-back first-round knockouts of Dan Hardy and Dong Hyun Kim, Carlos Condit is one of the hottest contenders in the UFC welterweight division. But to be a legend, he’ll have to start beating legends. The Natural Born Killer will get an opportunity to do just that at UFC 137: St. Pierre vs. Diaz (October 29th, Las Vegas), where he’ll face former lightweight/welterweight champ BJ Penn in the co-main event. With just one victory in his last four fights, Penn needs to make a statement against the young up-and-comer to prove that he’s not ready to be put out to pasture just yet.

But forget about what this fight “means.” These are two guys who go for the finish every minute of every round, and Penn vs. Condit is guaranteed to be a thriller. As the video reminds us, 96.3% of Condit’s wins come by stoppage — and Penn has still yet to be knocked down, despite a 10 year career that saw him fight across four different weight divisions. That’s kind of insane. Condit is currently a slight favorite with the oddsmakers. Sound about right to you?

After the jump: NicktheFace’s trailer for UFC 137′s headliner between Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz.
