Sean Sherk was on MMAJunkie Radio on Monday and the 38-year-old former UFC lightweight champ revealed that he only has a handful of fights left in him.

“I want to fight again. I’m a fighter. At this point in time, do I plan on fighting five or six more times? Probably not, to be honest with you. That’s why I want big fights. I want co-main-event or main-event type fights that are going to cement my place in the UFC Hall of Fame,” Sherk says. “Absolutely, I think at this point in time, I’ve done enough to be a hall of famer, but I’d like a few more fights to make my mark.”

Though reports about Mark Coleman’s induction into the UFC’s Hall of Fame have been swirling for a month, the UFC officially confirmed it today — Coleman will get the honor at UFC 82, which takes place in his hometown of Columbus, OH. Coleman’s career highlights include winning the UFC’s first heavyweight title and stepping on Wanderlei Silva’s head during a melee after his fight with Mauricio Rua at PRIDE 31.

As for the next fighter to follow Coleman into the UFC’s Hall of Fame, Dana White was quoted in an ESPN.com article as saying that Tank Abbott “absolutely will be in our Hall of Fame” when he officially retires. White also called Tank’s fight with Kimbo Slice “a farce.” Man, does he love that word or what! Unrelated but awesome Tank Abbott quote from the ESPN article: “I was in really great shape. Don’t judge a book by looking at the cover. Just because I got blubber on me, that’s genetics basically, thanks to my mother.”

According to a report on Knockout Radio, Mark "The Hammer" Coleman may be inducted into the UFC’s Hall of Fame at "Pride of a Champion" on March 1st in Columbus, OH. He would be just the fifth Hall of Fame inductee, after Royce Gracie, Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, and Randy Couture.

Generally credited with inventing "ground-and pound," former Olympic wrestler Mark Coleman began his MMA career in fearsome fashion, winning UFC 10‘s eight-man tournament via first-round stoppages of Moti Horenstein, Gary Goodridge, and Don Frye; winning UFC 11‘s tournament with quick submissions of Julian Sanchez and Brian Johnston; and becoming the UFC’s first-ever heavyweight champion by submitting Dan Severn at UFC 12. Though he lost his next four matches, he later became PRIDE’s first Grand Prix champion when he beat Akira Shoji by decision, won a default victory over Kazuyuki Fujita, and pounded out Igor Vovchanchyn in the same night (5/1/00).

Coleman fights less often now, but he hasn’t retired yet; his last match was a submission loss to Fedor Emelianenko at PRIDE 32 in October 2006, and he currently enjoys popularity as a professional wrestler in Japan. Hopefully this will get the wheels on the UFC’s Hall of Fame train rolling a little faster. If Coleman and Couture can be members, surely Don Frye and Matt Hughes can get a little love. Unfortunately, Chuck Liddell’s birthday will be a national holiday before Tito Ortiz gets the honor…
