Last night, news of a former UFC star’s long-awaited return began circulating on the Internet. Of course, I’m talking about Logan Stanton’s surprise appearance at the UFC 149 weigh-ins. In a far-less-important related story, there were also reports about ex-UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia being signed to fight Daniel Cormier in Strikeforce. Since being humiliated by pudgy boxer Ray Mercer in June 2009, Sylvia has gone 7-1 in eight different regional promotions (with six wins by stoppage due to strikes), and maybe the time was right for a high-profile comeback. If you’ll recall, Cormier himself wasn’t against the idea.

Unfortunately, those reports were bullshit, as UFC president Dana White confirmed with the UG. “Long story, but yes, Tim is not with Zuffa,” White said. Sources indicate that negotiations were in fact going on, but for some reason Sylvia and Zuffa couldn’t come to terms. We’ll update you if more details come out. Cormier is still without an opponent for his September 29th Strikeforce swan song.

Well ho-lee shit. It seems that if you do enough digging on any given ring girl, you will find out that she has done porn at one point in her life. According to a few unconfirmed sources from around the MMA blogosphere, it appears that Chandella Powell will be joining the ranks of Logan Stanton, Natasha Wicks, and Edith Labelle as a former UFC ring girl due to…get this…failing to disclose that she once appeared in a couple softcore porn photo shoots and videos under the name “Mariah Ashton.” What was originally passed off as a common bestiality flick was recently discovered to contain none other than the first ever African American UFC ring girl going “toe-to-toe” with another young starlet. How could you keep this from us, Carmen?

As we all know, Chandella was absent from the UFC’s FUEL TV debut last night, and hasn’t said a word on her Twitter account since Saturday. And since we also know that it is physically impossible for any woman, let alone a public figure, to ignore their Twitter for more than an hour or so, this can only mean that these rumors are unquestionably true. We are not going to provide links to any of the evidence against Ms. Powell, because if you haven’t searched the internet and found them yourself by this point I would be sorely disappointed, Potato Nation.

One of our favorite online obsessions over the last month has been awesome people hanging out together, a tumblr photo blog devoted to celebrities mingling in unexpected combinations. EVAN TANNER

A one-time middleweight champion of the UFC, Evan Tanner struggled with addiction and financial problems during the later part of his career. Tanner got sober in 2008, but died just a few months later during a fateful adventure in the Southern California desert. And though he didn’t always treat himself kindly, Evan left behind a legion of fans and friends who revered him for his generosity and positive attitude — much like TapouT founder Charles “Mask” Lewis, who also happened to be fond of the word ‘Believe.’

Now that Logan Stanton’s career as a UFC Octagon girl is firmly in the rearview mirror, she no longer has to smile and play nice when people ask about the experience. It’s like that time I got fired from Old Navy for my political views (and for stealing a bunch of cargo shorts) – once you get that last paycheck, you can tell the whole mall about how Steve used to peep in the dressing rooms at teenage girls before he became assistant manager and started thinking he was too good for everyone.

Stanton’s version of recent events seems to be that she was never really that into being an Octagon girl anyway, and the UFC is a company that will fire anyone at any time if the mood strikes them. Even the girls’ beloved “Octagon mom,” Leslie Hedges, got let go recently, which Stanton said didn’t surprise her because “the UFC really has no loyalty to anyone.”

The world is still searching for answers in the wake of the shocking dual-firing of UFC Octagon Girls Logan Stanton and Natasha Wicks — and it turns out that the women were just as shocked as we were. Though Wicks has played it rather low-key so far, thanking her fans and the UFC via Twitter, Stanton spoke to MMA Fighting to explain that her dismissal came completely out of the blue:

As we all attempt to work through the shock of losing Logan Stanton and Natasha Wicks as UFC ring girls, there’s bound to be some hand-wringing and maybe even a little finger-pointing.  We understand that, but as part of the healing process, let’s look to the future.  Thanks to help from Cage Potato reader Rooster, we found some photos of the rumored replacement for Logan and Natasha, former Playboy model Chandella Powell.

I know it’s not very responsible to make up rumors out of whole cloth, but goddammnit, Logan and Natasha are gone — gone, you guys — and the last thing I’m feeling right now is responsible. So there I am at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone after UFC 106, relaxing, enjoying some adult beverages, when the Raw Vegas producer comes up to me and asks if I’ll interview UFC Octagon girls Natasha Wicks and Logan Stanton.  Because I’m a sucker, I said yes.  Some interesting things I learned:

- The consensus opinion among the Octagon girls is that Josh Koscheck is a total faker.  This does not seem to have endeared him to them.

- All three of the girls aren’t necessarily the best of friends.  Logan wouldn’t say who the outsider is, but let’s just say that all of the girls were supposed to be at this party and only two came.

- You don’t appreciate what Dave Farra does until you have to try and do it yourself.  Then you just hate him even more.

MMA Fanhouse has confirmed that Edith Labelle — you know, the large-chested Octagon Girl who’s not Arianny or Logan — won’t be holding round cards and blowing kisses to the camera during UFC broadcasts anymore. Her manager was quoted as saying "Something happened, but at this time, I can only confirm that Edith no longer works for the UFC." Considering the rumors that swirled around Amber Nichole Miller‘s departure, that "something" could be nothing, or that something could be something; feel free to speculate wildly in the comments section below. Edith will be officially replaced by Maxim Octagon Girl Search winner Natasha Wicks at UFC 101 tomorrow night in Philadelphia.

Edith Labelle (born June 30, 1982), aka Edith Larente, made her debut as a UFC Octagon Girl in November 2007, but was released by the company after falling ill at UFC 100 in July 2009. Hailing from Mont-Laurier, Quebec, Edith Labelle worked as a semi-nude model before joining the UFC, and was best known as "Anabelle" from FlashyBabes.com. Outside of her appearance in a low-budget sci-fi movie in 2009, we have no idea what Edith’s been up to since leaving the UFC.

Okay, this is pretty sweet.  Video highlight-maker KingAtRock1 has put together a look at the five best pound-for-pound fighters in MMA.  Sure, you could say he whitewashes Urijah Faber’s recent history in the cage, but overall it’s a solid list and I had a good time watching it.  Just good, clean fun.

I was just flipping through this month’s copy of Fight! Magazine, which features a photo spread on the UFC’s newest Octagon girl, Logan Stanton, and then lo and behold here’s Yahoo’s Steve Cofield doing a video interview with her at the Arnold Classic.  You have to admit Logan’s pretty damn adorable, and her dorky, "Revenge of the Nerds" laugh somehow only makes her more so.  Leave it to that classy son of a bitch Cofield to ask her if she’s going to get a boob job.  Nice, Steve.

If you watched UFC 92 last month, you might have noticed someone new cruising around the cage. That petite brunette with the thousand-watt smile is Logan Stanton, a 20-year-old model from Niceville, Florida, who, contrary to Internet rumors, is not at all related to Arianny Celeste. She is, however, a longtime UFC fan and self-described “dork” who likes to scarf chocolate and play with beads. We gave Logan a ring before she flew off to Dublin for Saturday’s fights, and got the inside story on how she got the gig, what Octagon Girls do when they’re not on camera, and lots more…

CAGEPOTATO.COM: So first things first — Is Logan Stanton your real name?
LOGAN STANTON: Yeah. My sister named me. My parents thought I was going to be boy, and they just liked the name so well that they kept it for me. But I like it — it goes with my personality because I’m not a girly-girl, I’m kind of a tomboy.

How long have you been modeling?
My mom was pushing me to do this since I was about nine, but I’d never had any real interest until I turned 18. I decided I needed to get out of Niceville and do my own thing for a bit, so I came to Miami and was picked up by an agency. I’ve been down here modeling full-time since last January, going back and forth between Miami and L.A.

UFC fans have been buzzing about you ever since you made your Octagon Girl debut last month. How did you wind up getting hired by the UFC?
It was probably the most random thing that’s ever happened to me. The agency called me last month and told me to come by the office, and they were like “Have you ever heard of something called the UFC?” I said, “Are you kidding me, of course I’ve heard of it, I’ve been watching it forever.” I didn’t understand why, but the UFC wanted to meet with me, so they flew me out to Vegas, and I met with [UFC VP] Craig [Borsari] and Dana [White]. I told them, “honestly, I don’t know why I’m here — I don’t have big boobs, I’m not blonde,” and they said that’s not what they were looking for at all.

Then they explained to me what an Octagon Girl does. I’ve always watched the shows, and I’ve been dying to go to one ever since I started following it. It just sounded like a very cool opportunity. They said there was a fight [later that month], and if I was ready to go I could do that one. I needed a few days to let it sink in, so I went home for Christmas, and my friends and family got me all hyped up about it.

Is this going to be an ongoing gig, or did you only sign up for a certain amount of appearances?
Hopefully ongoing. I haven’t signed anything yet, so it’s hard to say. But I guess until I trip or something I’m here to stay. [laughs]

You were in front of an audience of over 14,000 people at UFC 92, with over a million more people watching at home. How did you deal with the nerves?
