Thanks to BabesofMMA.com for introducing us to Shannon Ihrke, a 23-year-old model who made her MMA ring girl debut at ProElite: Big Guns earlier this month, and will be appearing at the King of the Cage “Winter Warriors” event in her hometown of Walker, Minnesota, on December 10th. Much more importantly, she’s been enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps for the last four years, and currently holds the rank of Sergeant E-5, which means you should salute every time you see her. (Ed. note: Don’t actually do that.)

Shannon is currently drawing attention as a finalist for Maxim’s 2011 Hometown Hotties competition; you can vote for her and watch some fantastic behind-the-scenes videos right here. The June 2011 issue of Maxim is out now, featuring Strikeforce ring girl Kelli Hutcherson making her debut in the annual Hot 100 feature. Kelli scored some solid real-estate in the issue, and we’ve got the scans to prove it. The January issue of Maxim is on newsstands now, featuring a pictorial and interview with UFC All Access host Rachelle Leah, who has somehow managed to survive every professional hot chick purge since she was hired. (Does posing nude grant you a protected status in the UFC? Please, Arianny, for the sake of your job.) Round 5 sent out a press release today announcing Gina Carano as the newest addition to their stable of fighters willing to be made into disproportionate MMA action figures.  Carano is the first female fighter to sign on with Round 5, and they expect her figure to drop along with their fourth series this summer.

In the release Carano says the normal stuff about how excited she is to be a part of this, so on and so forth, and then there’s this: “When I was a little girl my dad always joked about making a ‘Gina doll’ and I smile when I think it has become a reality.”  

He joked about making a doll of his daughter?  As in, for her?  Or just, you know, to have around the house, in case anything happened to the original?  I don’t get it, but I find it vaguely troubling.

Not a bad way to start your morning: Gina Carano has taken advantage of her current unemployment by posing for a new set of pics in Maxim. Check out her "My First Times" interview here, in which Crush/Conviction discusses her first fight inside the ring, her first fight outside the ring, and her first kiss. ("It didn’t smell good.")
