Movember Update: Karmaatemycat’s Mo’ Team Needs Your Donations!

(I can’t really grow a moustache either. So yeah, I’ll consider it. / Image via Muffvember advocate @MieshaTate)

Whether you’re struggling to push out some lip-fuzz or are already rocking a Full Beltran, we’d like to take a moment to thank everybody who’s participating in Movember this year to raise cash and awareness for important men’s health issues. And we wanted to send a special shout-out to our old friend Jefferey “Karmaatemycat” Watts, who has joined up the Mo’ed Men super-network that our comrades at MadeMan.com organized.

We’ll keep the sales pitch brief: Karma has a heart of gold, and the Movember cause has personal significance to him, as several of his family members and friends have been stricken with cancer over the years. If you’ll recall, he was also one of the main driving forces behind our successful fundraising efforts for Laura “angrylittlefeet” Nicholson earlier this year. So even if you’re not growing a mo’ this year, please swing by Jefferey’s page and donate a few dollars to the cause. Every little bit helps. Any questions, let us know in the comments section. Thanks guys.

CagePotato PSA: It’s Movember 1st. You Shaved, Right?

(Dang. Even Mike Beltran prefers baseball to MMA.)

Today marks the first day of Movember, the annual men’s health awareness campaign in which participants start the month clean-shaven, then grow out their moustaches and raise money for things like testicular cancer. If you’re participating, you were supposed to shave this morning. Maybe you forgot, and if so, that’s totally cool. Some of our unemployed friends on the West Coast are still getting out of bed at this point. So no worries, guys, just step away from your computers or mobiles devices, go to the nearest bathroom, steal the nearest razor, and shave, shave, shave.

And for those like myself who lack the ability to grow a sweet moustache, you can still support the movement by chipping in a few bucks at the Made Men Are Mo’ed Men team page. Thanks for listening, and visit our Mo’ Bros at MadeMan.com to keep up with the latest in Movember-related news and events!

CagePotato PSA: Movember 2013 Is Upon Us!

(Nick Offerman’s Great Moments in Moustache History, via Made Man)

For most of you, Movember needs no introduction. For the rest of you, listen up: Every November (henceforth referred to as “Movember”), millions of men around the world grow out their moustaches in order to raise awareness for men’s health issues including prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health issues. These mo’d men — along with the female “Mo Sistas” in their lives — act as advocates and fundraisers, and have raised $446 million since the annual event’s inception in 2003. You can learn more about the cause at us.movember.com.

In the past, CagePotato has done its part to spread the word and collect cash. This year, we’re supporting our friends at Made Man, who are going all-friggin’-out for Movember awareness with a month’s worth of high-quality moustache-related content, including a grooming guide, a high-stakes man-cation contest, and live events. Swing by Made Man’s Movember HQ page today to check out their latest updates, and donate a few bucks to the Mo’ed Men fundraising team right here.

If you want to join the fight this year, register at us.movember.com, be sure to shave your grubby face on November 1st, tell your friends/family/co-workers why you’re doing it, and if you’re feeling really ambitious, start your own mo’nation team to collect funds for Movember. (What up, Karma!) Thanks for listening.

‘UFC on FUEL: Franklin vs. Le’ Fight-Picking Contest: The Winners!

(Bruce Lee would be pleased with your performance, but sort of disappointed about how much of your life you spend on the Internet. Images via Lancaster/Roots of Fight)

Let’s have another round of applause for Cung Le, who gave China its first-ever epic UFC punch-face on Saturday, then followed it up by scaring the crap out of cutman Don House. Only a handful of you predicted that Cung would knock out Rich Franklin during last week’s fight-picking contest, and only two of you thought it would happen in the first round, and that it would net Le a Knockout of the Night bonus. They were…

- Blakethoria: Cung Le Defeats Rich Franklin via TKO @ 2:21 of round 1
KO of the night [Ed. note: The comments section of the fight-picking post is only displaying the most recent 25 comments for some reason, but believe me, it's there.]
- Sniffer-Piffits: Le def. Franklin via TKO @ 4:17 of RD 1, KO of the Night, bitch…..

Well, I don’t think the profanity was necessary, Sniffer, but nevertheless you and Blakethoria have won spiffy new Bruce Lee Movember t-shirts from LancasterLTD. Shoot your real names, sizes, and addresses to contest@cagepotato.com and we’ll get you hooked up soon. The rest of you should consider buying one of Lancaster’s Movember tees. A portion of all sales benefit the cause, y’know.

Speaking of which: How are your moustaches coming along, anyway? Post photos of your mo’ progress on our Facebook page, and there might be a $50 StubHub gift card in it for you. And thanks so much for your continued donations to the Mo’Tato Nation team page!

‘Franklin vs. Le’ Fight-Picking Contest: Win a Bruce Lee/Movember T-Shirt From Lancaster LTD!

(Bruce Lee is “the father of mixed martial arts” — which more than qualifies him for a spot on the next UFC event poster. Video via LancasterLTD)

As we enter the first full week of Movember, your moustache-in-progress may be looking thin, patchy, and unattractive — more befitting a McPoyle than an alpha male. Stay strong and stick with it, because you have greatness in your future.

Thanks so much to the folks who have already contributed cash to our Movember team, the Mo’tato Nation; your money will help fund awareness efforts, research, and other critical support for men’s health issues. Last year, the Break and Friends network (which we’re a part of) raised over $40,000. If you want to help us smash that mark this year, please register and donate.

Onto the business at hand. Our good friends at Lancaster LTD — who are also celebrating Movember with a series of limited edition t-shirts — have pledged us a couple of their new Movember Bruce Lee tees for the Mo’tato Nation. To win one, simply guess the exact outcome of this Saturday’s main event fight between Rich Franklin and Cung Le at UFC on FUEL 6 in Macao, along with which bonus(es) the fight will earn, if any. Your entry should be in this format…

CagePotato PSA: It’s Movember 1st, So Shave Your Damn Face

(Moustaches: For real men only. / Photo via CombatLifestyle)

Just a quick update for those of you who are participating in the men’s health awareness moustache-a-thon known as Movember: It starts today, so if you haven’t done so already, please shave your bristly face. And make sure to take photos of your moustache progress through the month, because we’ll be awarding a $100 StubHub gift card to the prettiest one at the end of the month.

If you’re not really the participatory type, but still want to help out a good cause, please donate a few bucks to CagePotato’s Mo’tato Nation team page (which you should join if you’re doing this), or Karmaatemycat’s personal page, because that dude keeps it real.

Good luck, Mo’ bros.

Movember PSA: Snoop Dogg’s Tribute to Muhammad Ali, New Mo’ Tees From Lancaster LTD

(Props: lancasterltd)

As you know, CagePotato is organizing a Movember team this year, and is currently accepting members and donations. Our friends at Lancaster LTD are honoring Movember as well, with a line of special edition t-shirts — featuring such manly men as Bruce Lee, Muhammad Ali, and Evel Knievel — and a series of short films focused on the personal legacies of these individuals. Check out the first installment above, in which Snoop Dogg (aka Snoop Lion) talks about his love for Ali.

If you’re not already tapped out from donating cash to the Mo’tato Nation, please swing by the Lancaster LTD/Roots of Fight Movember network and consider chipping in a few bucks to the cause. Thanks so much, guys, and start getting your razors ready for Movember 1st!

CagePotato PSA: Movember Is Coming, And We Need You on Our Team

(And here we have Ronda Rousey putting one of Mike Beltran‘s braided moustache-chains in her mouth. Damn, that is sexy… / Photo via TitoCouture)

Maybe you’re at work right now. Maybe you’re eating lunch, or riding public transportation. No matter where you are or what you’re up to, I’d like you do something for me — reach into your pants and check to see if you have two healthy, fully-functioning testicles. (Yes, even you, angrylittlefeet.) If everything is in order, pat yourself on the back. Unfortunately, not every man is so lucky. I’m not trying to turn this site into BummerPotato.com, but did you know that testicular cancer is the most common cancer in American males between the ages of 15 and 35? And that over 8,500 men will be diagnosed with the disease this year? And that about 360 men will die of it?

Hell, did you know that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime, and that approximately 242,000 new cases of that disease will be diagnosed in 2012? You probably didn’t know any of this, which is fine, but now you do know, and if you feel like doing something about it, we should talk.

For the second year in a row, CagePotato.com is partnering up with Movember to spread awareness and raise money for testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and other men’s health issues. If you want to help us in this month-long quest, here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Register yourself at us.movember.com/register.

Step 2: Join our Movember Team at mobro.co/MotatoNation.
