Miesha Tate vs. Rin Nakai UFC Promo: ‘Fighting Queens’

(props: UFC on YouTube)

Outside of the Mark Hunt vs Roy Nelson main event, the most compelling matchup at this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 52 event in Saitama might be Miesha Tate vs. Rin Nakai — a meeting between an American former title contender and an undefeated Japanese mythical creature best known for semi-nude baking. The oddsmakers have Tate (rightly) pegged as a strong -240 favorite, but with the burly Nakai enjoying home-field advantage, it’s hard to count her out completely.

This “Fighting Queens” promo gives us a closer look at Nakai’s backstory, judo prowess, and training environment, and reveals her as a humble competitor who welcomes the challenge of representing Japanese women in the Octagon. As her trainer Fumio Usami puts it: “In order to make MMA really take off in Japan, I think a Japanese fighter needs to win. I think it’s important that Rin Nakai wins.”

Also, some random pervy dude takes photos of Miesha Tate and her friend at a shrine or something. Check it out.

Watch This Amazing Japanese Promo For ‘UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Nelson’, And Shed a Tear for the Way Things Used to Be

The Japanese MMA scene lies cold in the ground, leaving us only with fond memories of PRIDE’s pageantry and DREAM’s cartoonish promo videos. And yet, there is hope.

On September 20th, UFC Fight Night 52: Hunt vs. Nelson pops off at the Saitama Super Arena, and it’s (tentatively) loaded with so many MMA legends, wild personalities, and physical behemoths that it almost feels like the lineup to a PRIDE New Year’s Eve card. And so, a YouTube hero named PrideDream2013 has made a 27-minute extended trailer previewing some the bouts and fighters that have been confirmed for the event, and a few that haven’t yet.

Part 2 of the promo is after the jump, which focuses on Rin Nakai and Takanori Gomi. Check it out, and ask yourself: Wouldn’t it be nice if all UFC events were promoted like this?

Photo of the Day: Rin Nakai and Dana White, or, The Duality of Human Existence

(Photo by Keith Tsuji for Getty Images)

Here we have new UFC acquisition Rin Nakai (left, dressed in white w/tiara) and UFC president Dana White (right, dressed in black w/o tiara) at a press conference for UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Nelson earlier today in Tokyo. I don’t know if they planned those outfits together or what, but it kind of makes Dana look like a comic book villain who kidnapped a princess, and Kyoji Horiguchi has to battle his way up from the prelims to save her. Plus, White’s hand is around Nakai’s waist, which isn’t something that he normally does with his male fighters during photo-ops. I’m just saying. There’s a pretty good chance he called her “sweetheart” at some point.

Miesha Tate vs. Rin Nakai in the Works for UFC Fight Night Japan in September

(…everything else is virtually identical. / Image via McKinley Noble)

In a matchup straight out of our darkest, most deranged fantasies, a fight between UFC bantamweight contender Miesha Tate and Japanese muscle-fetish sex symbol Rin Nakai is reportedly in the works for UFC Fight Night Japan: Hunt vs. Nelson, September 20th in Saitama. MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani first reported the bout on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight, but clarified that it hasn’t been finalized yet.

Tate (14-5) recently earned her first win in the UFC, out-pointing Liz Carmouche at UFC on FOX 11 in April. Nakai (16-0-1) is an undefeated Queen of Pancrase — although the promotion has occasionally had to bend the rules to keep her impressive record intact. Random fact: Nakai’s height is listed at 5’1″, which makes her even shorter than John Dodson. We can’t wait for her first post-fight interview with Helwani.

Does anybody else feel like Tate vs. Nakai is a direct response to Bellator’s latest moves? I picture Joe Silva huddled on his laptop saying, “Oh, you think you can beat us on freak show fights, huh? We can do this all day, homie.”

After the jump: Videos of Rin Nakai working out topless — tastefully shot from behind — and bouncing on an exercise ball while giggling. #fitnessmotivation

Report: Aleksandra Albu Injured, Out of UFC Debut Against Julie Kedzie

(Really? Because she looks fine to me. Yeah, baby. She lookin’ fiiiiiiine. / Photo via Facebook.com/aleksandraalburussia)

You may remember Aleksandra Albu as the recent UFC signee with the suspicious record and tight body who was supposed to fight Julie Kedzie at UFC Fight Night 33 in December. Unfortunately, the Russian striker might not be gracing us with her presence quite yet. According to an SI.com report (which cites…nobody), Albu has withdrawn from the matchup due an unspecified injury. Cat scratch fever, perhaps.

“I’m disappointed but wish her the best and hope to face her in the future,” said Kedzie. The SI report adds:

Kedzie already has a suggested replacement: Rin Nikai [sic], of Japan. Nikai beat Kedzie’s Jackson/Winklejohn teammate Tara La Rosa on a controversial decision in September. Nikai, however, is not currently under UFC contract.

Julie Kedzie vs. Rin Nakai, eh? Yeah. I guess I’d watch that.

[VIDEO] The Only Thing Scarier Than Rin Nakai’s Latest Wardrobe Choice is Her Grappling Game

You know, in a world where even female fighters are valued for their sex appeal as much as their actual abilities, you’d think that an undefeated sexpot like Rin Nakai would be getting a lot more press. The similarities between Nakai and current UFC women’s champion Ronda Rousey are astounding, yet their career trajectories as of late could not be more different. Undefeated bantamweight submission specialists? Check. Willing to fall back on their sex appeal to promote a fight? Check and…uh…check, I guess. Showed up to their last weigh-in wearing bunny-themed lingerie, complete with ears and a thong? Point Nakai.

Sure, Rin’s look appeals to a *very* specific niche, but the woman’s shameless self-promotional skills and morbid sense of sexuality (the term “fearection” comes to mind) is something that should not only be recognized by us lamestream media types, but held in high regard. Let us not forget that we live in a society that has yet to rid itself of the personification of cancer that is Jose Canseco.

Anyway, join us after the jump to check out a video of Nakai rocking an outfit straight out of Final Fantasy or some shit and strangling Brenda Gonzales at Pancrase 247 over the weekend.

If You Like Fetish Porn, You Might Enjoy Rin Nakai’s Latest Pancrase Promos, You Pervert

(Props: YouTube.com/PancraseChannel. Tip via MiddleEasy)

Look, we know Rin Nakai isn’t for everybody. As an Asian woman who’s built like Bolo Yeung, the undefeated Queen of Pancrase appeals to a very specific fetish. But she’s never been afraid of playing up her unique look, and over the last few months Rin has been recording short promo videos for Pancrase’s YouTube channel, some of which feature her pumping iron while wearing very little clothing. Or bathing. Or just sitting there drinking coffee. It’s weird stuff, to be sure — but if the goal is to promote her fights, I guess it’s better than nothing. We’ve picked out some of Rin Nakai’s more notable clips, which continue after the jump. Enjoy, if you’re the kind of person who enjoys that sort of thing.

Hot (?) Potato: 17 Photos of Rin Nakai, Jacked Female Fighter

Rin Nakai photos women's MMA japan japanese blog photo gallery
(Full gallery is after the jump.)

A 5’1 ball of solid muscle, Rin Nakai isn’t the first woman you’d expect to become an MMA sex symbol. And yet Nakai has become an object of fetishistic interest in her native Japan due to the risqué photos that she regularly posts to her blog. The 24-year-old judoka has racked up a 10-0-1 professional record (seven wins via stoppage) as a 145-pounder, competing in Pancrase, Smackgirl, and Valkyrie, and was crowned the Valkyrie Open Weight Women’s Tournament champion last November. Check out our gallery of Rin Nakai photos below, and let us know in the comments section — would you or wouldn’t you?
