In Case You Were Wondering, LMFAO’s Love Affair With The Reem is Still Going Strong

(A few months ago this woman would have gotten face-pushed.)

We’re not exactly sure why, but that terrible dance music-making duo made up of  Berry Gordy’s relatives, LMFAO, sure do seem to love Alistair Overeem. The former Strikeforce, K-1 and DREAM heavyweight champion made his second consecutive cameo in the group’s most recent music video for Sorry for Party Rockin’. Maybe Alistair will be the Captain Lou Albano to their Cindy Lauper.

Check Out ‘The Reem Episode 10: Redemption’ and Try Not to Get Goosebumps

Well the makers of “The Reem” have done it again and it looks like this could be the best episode yet of Alistair Overeem’s online web series thanks to the cool footage of fans around the world watching and reacting to his UFC debut.

This time our favorite documentary filmmakers follow our hero to and from his UFC 141 fight with Brock Lesnar.

Check it after the jump.

While Alistair Was Retiring Brock a New Episode of ‘The Reem’ Quietly Made Its Way Onto the Interwebs

(If Arianny liked us 1/10 as much as she does “The Reem” we’d be out of the doghouse right now)

While the rest of us were watching Alistair Overeem make Brock Lesnar wish he had never taken up real fighting, the creative powers behind “The Reem” were releasing another episode of our favorite online documentary.

(Poor Tiki)

Judging by our favorite two gifs from the episode, you can guess that “The Demolition Man” was a big hit in Vegas.

Check it out after the jump.

MMA Stock Market: UFC 141 – Lesnar vs. Overeem Edition

(Hey Mario, is that some Jacks Links in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?)

By Jason Moles

When we next see Brock Lesnar, will it be in the Octagon or the squared circle? What did “Cowboy” Cerrone do with the beanie Nate Diaz handed him? Where in the world did this Jimy Hettes guy come from? None of these questions will be answered in this forum. Instead, you’ll learn which UFC 141 fighters’ stock to buy more of, sell off, or hold. Even if you’re still too hung over to remember what happened Friday night, you’ll still need to make a few fiscal moves to stay ahead of the curve. Remember, money never sleeps, kid. Now go make yourself a Bloody Mary then keep reading to kick off the New Year with sage advice about the MMA stock market.

Alistair Overeem – Buy it like they’re giving it away for free

It makes no difference whether you think “The Reem” is completely unstoppable or flat out overrated — when he fights, people watch. Casual fans will be enamored with Alistair Overeem because he looks good with his shirt off (at least that’s why I think Arianny make that face) and the hype that can be drummed up by Zuffa thanks to his Strikeforce, DREAM, and K1 titles. For the next few years, as long as he doesn’t piss hot for some tainted horsemeat, the “Demolition Man” will be a main event attraction that will only make him more valuable with time.

Video: The Reem Season 2 Episode 8

(Video courtesy of Vimeo/THE REEM)

Our favorite web documentary series is back with another episode just intime for its protagonist’s biggest fight of his career.

In this episode of The Reem, Alistair Overeem does some PR work in L.A. ahead of his UFC 141 bout with Brock Lesnar this Friday and spends some time training with Mark Munoz and company at Reign Training Center.

Shame on HDNet and the Octagon Nation Tour for jacking our swagger (6:08 mark) and props to Overeem for punking the last fan in line at the signing. The dude looked like he was going to cry.

Check Out the Awesome UFC 141 Trailer the Guys Who Produce ‘The Reem’ Made

(Look at Brock hiding out up there so he doesn’t get hit. Art really does imitate life.)

Sometimes the best highlights and promos are the ones made by fans of the sport. Promotions tend to tell you what they think you should be excited about whereas fans just seem to know what is exciting.

Case in point, the UFC 141: Overeem vs. Lesnar trailer below from our friends who produce “The Reem” documentary series. If you saw the latest episode of the show, you’ve already seen this spot, but it’s worth re-watching even if you have.

It’s a toss-up whether this fight or the upcoming championship bout between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez on Fox is the more heavily anticipated heavyweight tilt, but no matter which one you’re most looking forward to, this video should get you pumped for Overeem vs. Lesnar, or horsemeat vs. beef jerky as we like to call it.

Check it out after the jump.

‘The Reem’ Part II, Episode 6: Alistair Invades California

(Props: thereem.com)

In the latest episode of Alistair’s Overeem‘s web documentary “The Reem,” our hero takes a little business trip to Los Angeles and Las Vegas to see if America might be a good place to live someday. By the time he leaves, he has starred in a music video, met porn legend Ron Jeremy, beat up Antoni Hardonk for old time’s sake, watched two of his Golden Glory teammates kick ass at the first Muay Thai Premiere League event, bought a new suit, and signed a UFC contract to fight Brock Lesnar. That’s what you call efficiency. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

GIF of the Day: ‘The Reem’ and Fez Are Not Impressed by LMFAO’s Antics

(Going sleeveless next to Alistair must be a humbling experience, huh Fez?)

First of all, no, we aren’t big LMFAO fans and that’s not how we discovered this little gem. It was brought to our attention by a Danish reader named Jacob Hansen who sent us a link to the video.

Now that we have that out of the way, we want answers how this strange pairing came to be. Did LMFAO put out a call for the scariest dude on the beach in L.A. that day and Alistair just happened to be chillin’ there with Handy Manny? There’s got to be an explanation. Until then, just take in the bizarre clip and wonder what they told “The Demolition Man” to act like for the shoot. Points for noticing Wilmer’s finger-snapping nod to MJ’s “Beat It” vid at the end.

If you can stomach listening to the song that accompanies this thing, check out the video after the jump.

Even Bob Sapp is Trying to Get Paid Reality Show Dough

With all of the MMA fighters trying their hands at reality television, it was inevitable that washouts like Butterbean and Bob Sapp would follow suit.

Sapp is pitching the show above to The Travel Channel in the hopes that they’ll pick it up long-term. Unfortunately for Sapp, besides maybe a handful of us and the Japanese, not many people, especially those who watch The Travel Channel could sit through more than one episode of “The Beast” making faces and and a fool out of himself.

While everyone was busy on Internet message boards and comment sections furiously typing in caps locks with extra exclamation points how overrated and shitty of a fighter Alistair Overeem is because he didn’t walk through Fabricio Werdum as expected, The Reem Season 2, Episode 3 was quietly released to the masses.

Breakfast With a Champion, Featuring Alistair Overeem

(“You kick one little girl at a birthday party and nobody ever lets you live it down.”)

In an effort to constantly increase and improve our interactive offerings to the Potato Nation, we’ve come up with a new concept for a series of ongoing articles that will give our readers the opportunity to interact with some of MMA’s biggest stars.

We dubbed the series, “Breakfast With a Champion,” because we will be posting them early in the morning for you to read and because the concept is that you send us your questions for various titleholders and we forward them and post the replies here when we get them back.

The beauty of it is that you get to ask questions that typically don’t get asked by journalists and you get to contribute to the content you want to read in one of two ways: By posting questions for future guests and by suggesting which champs you want to take your questions.

We’ll do our best to get in touch with as many of them as we can and to answer as many of your questions as possible. All we ask is that you keep your questions respectful and that you spread the word about the series.

So without further adieu, check the first instalment of Breakfast With a Champion, featuring Alistair Overeem after the jump.

‘The Reem’ is Back With Season Two of Our Favorite Web Documentary Series

THE REEM 2 EPISODE 1: COMING TO AMERICA from THE REEM on Vimeo.

It’s been a while, but Alistair Overeem’s web-based mini-documentary series “The Reem” is back with another season. Season 2 picks up with Alistair getting the invite to appear on K-1′s NYE  Dynamite! card opposite last-minute replacement Todd Duffee. Following the impressive KO win, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker approaches Overeem and offers him a slot on the promotion’s planned heavyweight grand prix and “The Demolition Man” immediately requests a rematch with Fabrisco Werdum in the opening round. So much for his detractors saying he only takes easy fights.

Video: The Reem Episode 10 – Big in Japan

(Video courtesy Vimeo/TheReem)

While speaking with Golden Glory founder and manager Bas Boon a couple weeks ago, I told him how much the Potato Nation was digging The Reem series and I asked him if there were any plans to profile other GG fighters like Marloes Coenen, Sergei Kharitonov or Semmy Schilt in a similar fashion.

According to Boon, the cost of making The Reem (which is completely produced out of pocket by his company) is very high as they have had to hire a crew to follow Alistair 24-7. Although it isn’t something he says they are working on at the moment,  he says he hasn’t closed the door on the notion altogether.

This isn’t the only fan-centric initiative Golden Glory has put on.

If you recall, the Holland-based gym also streamed its Glory MMA and kickboxing event last month for free, although they could have easily charged fans to watch it. Boon told us that the reasoning behind the decision was that they simply wanted to increase the exposure of their fighters and the sport, which is why they decided to give it away.

We need more people involved in MMA who value the fans as much as Golden Glory does.

Video: The Reem Episode 9 – Business as Usual

EPISODE 9: BUSINESS AS USUAL from THE REEM on Vimeo.

The Reem Episode 9 is here and the latest segment does not disappoint.

The latest edition of the web-based Alistair Overeem mini documentary opens with Marloes Coenen receiving a hero’s welcome as she returns home to Holland for the first time since she won the Strikeforce women’s 135-pound title.

"I’m very proud, first of all. I know how hard she worked. She’s very dedicated. I knew she had it in her because she’s really strong and she’s really technical," Alistair explains. "Overall I’m very proud. Our Marloes. Our Marloes Coenen."

Golden Glory seems to be one of the tightest knit teams in MMA. It’s nice to see them giving their teammates the support that they do.

The episode also sees "The Demolition Man" attend the Glory MMA and kickboxing event to support his GG mates and beating the shit out of training with a group of friends from across Europe.

This episode of Alistair Overeem’s web-based mini documentaries opens with the Strikeforce heavyweight champ returning home from his media tour of the U.S. following his win over Brett Rogers at Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery last month. Meeting him at the airport are his teammate Marloes Coenen and his mom, Clair, who says she’s always afraid when he fights that he might get hurt, despite him being a "big boy."

Ubereem’s  training partner — recent Strikeforce signee Siyar "Afghan Killa" (insert Josh Koshcheck or Jake Shields joke hereBahadurzada makes a guest appearance in the vid, as does renowned Golden Glory coach Cor Hemmers who talks a bit about the strategy they employed for Alistair’s fight with Rogers.

The production value of the latest edition of these series of mini-documentaries is stellar, as usual.

I never noticed them before, but check out the wicked stretch marks caused by Alistair’s growth spurt  (around the 6:20 mark).

As a bonus, we get to see Strikeforce commentator Mauro Ranallo doing his best Muhammad Ali impersonation with an impromptu freestyle rhyme counting the ways he loves Ubereem.
