Tim Kennedy Can’t Get Anyone to Fight Him So He May Have to Go to Japan Where Homies Aren’t Scared

(Hopefully somebody Rangers Up soon.)

According to a report from FiveOuncesofPain.com, Strikeforce middleweight contender Tim Kennedy is having a hell of a time finding an opponent for his next fight.

The 12-3 retired Army Ranger who last fought and lost by decision to Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza for the Strikeforce middleweight strap four months ago was offered two opponents for last weekend’s Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu event, but both declined the fight, leaving Kennedy in the lurch.

“I said yes to two different names for the December 4th card but both guys turned down the fight,” Kennedy explained. Though the humble 31-year old did not reveal names, he did explain he’s being proactive about the situation – a quality [that] likely serv[ed] him well throughout his decorated military career.

If I had to guess, I’d say the unnamed fighters were Robbie Lawler and Jason Miller — both of whom would have too much to lose by fighting Kennedy at this point.

Lawler has only one or two more fights left on his Strikeforce contract and was coming off of a loss to Renato "Babalu" Sobral. Another loss would have lowered his stock as a free agent significantly.

Miller, who has lost and won against Kennedy is likely still a few wins away from a title shot, considering he is 1-1 in his last two Strikeforce appearances. A win over Kennedy would have likely put him on the fast track to a rubbermatch with Jacare, but a loss would have derailed his championship run indefinitely.

I may be way off, but they seem like the two most likely candidates for turning down the fight.

The story went on to reveal that the 31-year-old fighter, who is going stir-crazy to get back to competing is strongly considering fighting on either the DREAM or K-1 Dynamite! year-end shows.

"According to Kennedy, he is exploring DREAM as an option where a future fight is concerned. While nothing official is [im]minent, his interest in mixing it up this month along with the Japanese company’s involvement in the annual “Dynamite!!” show does lend credit to the idea a match-up on New Year’s Eve could be a possibility if things fall into place just right."

Sorry Juice, just got off the horn with Coker. He agreed to all the terms except the Crazy Core Skittles,....So the fights off, seems that he's saving all Skittles for his negotiations with M1. Fedor can't get them in Stary Oskal.
Fuck, I really wanted that Kinnect too.

I respect Tim as a soldier and a man for defending his country.

HOWEVER, as an MMA fighter, who the hell wants to fight this egotistical dick? He is hardly a name so there is no real upside to beating him. Not to mention, Tim's opponent will be lucky to get even his name printed in any promos and posters and Tim's one of Scott's "boys". Maybe the opponent will get his name shown as he walks down the ramp, but that's a toss-up.

I care more about Tim Kennedy than other fighters because I know that at some point his socioeconomic situation encouraged him to sign up for the army and I like people like that.

Make 'em crazy core Skittles and I can't think of a good reason why not.

Mayhem was my first thought then I read the headline. I don't think he's scared or anything, I think he wants bigger names (Diaz, Diaz, Diaz).

Damn! Poor bastard's willing to fight for free just to fight. You got to respect that!

Because, you know a DREAM check is going to bounce.

I think Miller trounces Kennedy these days but hey. I disagree Mayhem ducks Kennedy because he is afraid to lose or it's bad for his career. Miller doesn't typically act like a guy who really gives a shit about his career in terms of the fights he takes.

/Also knowing Strikefarce they wanted Karo Parisyan to dress up like the iron sheik and fight but Karo, bro wasn't going for it, bro.

Good to see he's coming back down to earth after the bitchfest he went on after getting out-boxed by Jacare.
Almost North- December 7, 2010 at 3:43 pm
Thats assuming Strikeforce offered him the most logical opponents. That is a big assumption if you ask me.
