Training Updates: Fedor Heads to Holland to Train with Ernesto Hoost and Chael Sonnen Adds Some Swagger to the 209 Where He’s Helping Jake Shields Prepare for GSP

Jake Shields mentioned in an interview he did with Joe Rogan during Saturday’s Ultimate Fight Night 24 broadcast that he was planning on bringing in Chael Sonnen to help him prepare for his April 30 UFC 129 match-up with UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre.

According to MiddleEasy, he wasn’t just blowing smoke up our asses as the beleaguered UFC middleweight contender has offically arrived in the 209 with his Team Quest mate Matt Lindland in tow to help Shields prepare for GSP.

In other news, former PRIDE heavyweight champ Fedor Emelianenko has made good on his promise that he would shake up his training by traveling to the Netherlands to prepare for his next bout. “The Last Emperor” is spending the next two weeks at Ernesto Hoost’s Dutch kickboxing gym.

@Loki – I saw the wrestling… Did you not also notice that Hendo wasn’t himself? He obviously didn’t train for that fight and gassed early, plus he had to cut weight and Shields didn’t. Remember when everyone thought Kos was gonna wrestle rape GSP? GSP can hold his own with Marquardt and Rashad, I don’t think Jake is gonna out muscle hiim, nor out wrestle him, nor out jits him. Maybe out jits him. But a slim maybe since he will have to score a takedown first.

Am I the only one who saw Jake Shields wrestle-rape Hendo?!
With Sonnen in tow(awkward)Jake’s Jitz pedagree, and GSP’s tendancy to tap at the first sign of trouble I dont think it will even be close on the mat.
The other side of the coin is that Georges’ striking makes him look like ‘Mohamed fucking I’m-hard Bruce Lee’ compared to Jake.

Jake Shields’ gym is in Berkeley, Cesar Gracie is in Pleasant Hill/Concorde, AKA is in San Jose, and Gilbert Melendez’ gym is in San Francisco — none of which are in the 209. Where was the picture taken? Unless they’re at the Diaz family home, it probably wasn’t the 209.

I don’t think Sonnen looks that big, he’s just standing with a bunch of dudes who fight in lower weight classes, and he has fought in close to 8mos and I assume his walk around weight is over 200lbs and he cuts to 185.

This couldn’t be more obvious. Jake Shields didn’t bring in Chael to help him fight, he brought him in to try to make Jake Shields less boring.
