‘TUF 10′ Episode 8 Recap: Last Baby Standing

Marcus Jones vs. Mike Wessel – Watch more Funny Videos

Matt Mitrione‘s win over Scott Junk on last week’s episode was a bit of a shock to the TUF guys, who expected more out of the Hawaiian UFC vet. Junk says he would have won the fight if it went to a third round — kind of a bold statement considering he almost had a heart-attack trying to make it to the second horn.

Rampage has his now-famous door-destroying session. "You know what sucks about that, it shows everybody how fucking cheap our doors are," Dana says. Rashad doesn’t understand the outburst. "If you put in nothin’, you get out nothin’," he says. After Rampage cools down, he feels embarrassed about the incident, especially because the door never did anything to him.

In the aftermath of the last fight, Mitrione feels like his brain is a little rattled, and goes right to bed. Wes Sims feels it’s the perfect opportunity to throw him a party. He barges into Matt’s room screaming "CELEBRATE!" while spraying some undisclosed shit into his room. (Silly String? Axe Body Spray?) The brain-damaged Mitrione is in no mood, and politely asks Wes to leave.

Marcus Jones is Team Rampage’s last chance to save some dignity and prevent the first-round sweep. "If Marcus loses, it better be fair and square, ‘cuz we bankin’ on that boy," Rampage says. Cut to: Jones completely freaking out when a large spider enters the house.

Mike Wessel‘s wife has cancer; being in the house and not knowing if she’s okay weighs on him heavily. Rashad lays out the gameplan for Wessel against Jones: No takedowns, just fire the overhand right and land some shots inside. Throw everything at Big Baby and make him quit.

Marcus is a "student of the game" when it comes to MMA in a way that he never was with football. He could watch it 24 hours a day, every day. Jones loves to learn and has an infectious laugh.

Brendan Schaub decides to draw a couple of caricatures of Jones and hang them in the house. Next to "The Darkness," Mike Wessel writes "Sucks Balls." Big surprise, Big Baby is a big baby about it. He sarcastically thanks the TUF guys for their consideration for his family, and goes out to sulk by the basketball court.

Rampage tries to bury the hatchet with Darrill Schoonover, apologizing for constantly calling him "titties." Darrill takes the bait. Rampage puts an arm around Darrill, then squeezes one of his titties. Furious, Darrill pushes up on Rampage, ready to fight. Clearly, he’s never read the Parable of the Frog and the Unbearable Asshole.

Marcus has six inches in height and 7.5 inches in reach on Mike. "It’s not how big you are," Rashad tells Mike. "It’s how big you are on the inside."

Round 1: Wessel comes right at Jones, brawling inside. Discarding the carefully crafted gameplan, Wessel tries for a leg-trip takedown, and Jones tosses him to the mat. Jones gets on top and tries for a kimura. Wessel rolls to escape, and Jones takes his back, working for a rear-naked choke. Wessel reverses and gets on top, and Jones quickly locks in an armbar. Wessel verbally taps, in obvious agony.

Marcus Jones will be Team Rampage’s sole representative in the quarterfinals, and judging from his performance, he could go even further. Rashad and Dana are very impressed with Jones’s skills. Big Baby is elated with his win. "It’s like crack!" he says. "How do you know what crack’s like?" Rampage asks him.

It’s time to decide the quarterfinal matchups, so the eight remaining fighters are called in one by one to tell the coaches and Dana who they’d like to fight. Roy Nelson gets on Dana’s nerves (again) by running down every fighter’s strengths and weaknesses but not making a specific pick. Finally he goes with Justin and Darrill, because "they’re not gonna hurt you." When Marcus is called in, he says he’ll fight anybody Rampage picks for him. Rampage wants Marcus to settle his own personal beef with Titties. "If that’s what coach thinks, I’ll go with Darrill," Marcus says. The next four fights will be…

Roy Nelson vs. Justin Wren (aka, the battle of the chubby white grapplers)

Brendan Schaub vs. Jon Madsen

James McSweeney vs. Matt Mitrione (aka, the battle of the cardio champions).

Marcus Jones vs. Darrill Schoonover

Rashad doesn’t think Rampage earned the privilege of picking Marcus’s opponent. He invites guys from Team Rampage to come over and help his guys prepare for their next fights. Rampage makes it clear that such disloyalty wouldn’t be appreciated, and instructs his fighters to boo Rashad every time they see him from now on.

On the next episode: Matt Mitrione is sent to the hospital with a sore brain. Will Kimbo finally come back for one more humiliating loss?

UFC fan, do you see a lot of commanding officers behave the way Rampage does? He has no respect for anything but the zeros on his paycheck."

ummmm no kellyman cant say that I ever did......but then Rampage never was in the military, and hes a crazy dude from the south so you are the only one who is shocked by that. he is the way he is, simple as that I never have a problem with it.

@ UFC Fan....

Titties ain't no joke is 10-0 and has 5 (T)KO's and 5 Subs....I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it to the final's.......or win the whole thing.....Roy will not win...I don't even think he will be in the final's.....Dana slamming this guy on the air is proof to me he is not going to be in the final's....IMO"

Yeah man I agree with you about big CUNTry :)
I don't agree with you about bitch titties. the people he beat are nobody's. IF he makes it to the UFC we will see what his real PRO record is. all I am saying is he would bite off more than he can chew, and his alligator mouth is overloading his hummingbird to speak.

My point is that since Dana has say in what happens as far as bringing someone back, and since the season sort of revolves around Kimbo, he most likely would get the slot in quarter finals and it would at least be a fight. I would only choose demico over Kimbo since he was the only one on Rampages team that actually showed skill and cardio, which has been the x factor this whole season.

Flame wars are for high school kids, and you're too dumb to communicate with. Let me spell it out for you. Whether you're an ignorant Kimbo fanboy or not is irrelevant. The point myself, and everyone else is making, is that Kimbo doesn't deserve a slot in quarter finals over anyone else who lost their fight. Further more, it's kind of easy to talk about his cardio being better when he spent a round and a half literally laying on his back while a fat guy gave him noogies. You've failed to make your point, but hey, retarded Kimbo fans who like to flame are always welcome on Youtube, try posting over there.

And if the contest is over who does more gay-baiting, then yes, Rampage wins. Not sure what else he's winning.

Rashad used a strategy that I've seen before. It was created by a famous Chinese Strategist Sun Bin. It was applied to horse races in which one man had a set of horses that were slightly inferior to his opponents, and that they would raced the horses in pairs. The side with the most victories was the winner. No matter how many times the inferior side raced, they lost. Sun Bin's insight was to put his worst horse against his opponents best. Since the horses were only slightly inferior, the generally inferior side's best was still better than the opponent's second best, and so on down the line, allowing the generally inferior side to win a majority of the races.

Rashad used this strategy and essentially sacrificed his weakest fighter against the fighter that he considered was Rampage's best, Marcus Jones.

Sneaky Sneaky. I have to think that Greg Jackson had a hand in this.

I don't understand why Kimbo would just assume that he will be the one to replace an injured fighter? Everyone on Rampage's team is better than him. And if Mitrone is hurt, wouldn't it make more sense for Wessel to take his place, beings that they are from the same team and all.

If Kimbo does get another shot, it proves that he is getting preferential treatment.

Bullshit in my opinion. But I'm just that guy.
J-Dog- November 5, 2009 at 10:29 am
I'm with TimReaper... even if Dana really hated Roy Nelson on the inside, if Roy was in the finals I think Dana would squash his feelings and talk him up whever he could. Dana is way too much of a media whore spin doctor to publicly bash someone who may be a big draw for him. Roy Nelson loses no doubt about it.
terrence- November 5, 2009 at 10:24 am
Anyone else hear Rampage try to say "temper tantrum" when referring to how he acted with the door. Tenture tandrums? He needs to read more.
831 Son- November 5, 2009 at 10:21 am
I agree Demico did better. Not the others. And to set the record straight, I am tired of this Kimbo crap but to be honest, he has a way better chance of winning than alot of these clowns. I would much rather see a war with Kimbo and someone else than see two dudes walking around gassed after 45 seconds. 90 percent of the people in that house have horrible cardio. FACE7biter, dont cry just because someone calls you out because you sound dumb, pussy bitch.
Richard Fitzentite- November 5, 2009 at 9:57 am
I loved Marcus in "The Green Mile".
fACE7biter- November 5, 2009 at 9:57 am
@831 Son:

It's not a popularity contest you flavor of the month loving faggot. Demico, Jensen, and even Shivers all did better than Kimbo. Go back to the kids table, grown ups are discussing MMA here.
831 Son- November 5, 2009 at 9:38 am
Oh and FACE7biter, Kimbo would and should get the shot since everyone else fucking sucks dick and doesnt have any cardio you dumb moron.
831 Son- November 5, 2009 at 9:36 am
This season still blows..
Sakuraba3900- November 5, 2009 at 9:33 am
Soooo... homeboy Marcus looked pretty good on the ground. Im kinda impressed with that armbar and trust me I love me some armbars.
ReDx- November 5, 2009 at 8:45 am
Maybe Wessel has an arm injury. They were talking about the dudes elbow not looking right after the fight. They are going to continue to promote Kimbo, he's there for advertising. By them throwing the idea Kimbo may be fighting next week, they will get some viewers to turn in that possibly wouldn't have.
fACE7biter- November 5, 2009 at 8:26 am
I'm impressed with Marcus. He showed great awareness out there, and wasn't just looking to use his size to bully Mike. All of his defenses and submission attempts flowed smoothly from one to the other, not unlike the last TUF winner James Wilks. Now he just needs a camp to get his cardio up to snuff.

Really Sims? That was supposed to elicit laughter. I couldn't laugh at that guy if I breathed nitrious while being tickled.

It irritates the shit out of me that they're STILL promoting a possible Kimbo fight, especially as a replacement in the quarterfinals! Why would he get a slot in the quarterfinals over ANYONE ELSE in the hosue?! And if lets say it is Mitrione who goes the hospital, why wouldn't a team RASHAD member get his spot, like Mike Wessel, since that team won the fight! Fuck Kimbo, if he wasn't such a retard, he would actually say that he doesn't want to be treated differently from the other fighters. But all hes done is differeniate himself as the only losing fighter who should be given another chance once God answers his prayers of hurting one of his teammates! I hope Alexander whoops his ass now. Try boxing instead you grisly bearded fuckwad!
sumguy- November 5, 2009 at 8:25 am
Only reason to bring Kimbo back is for ratings. If Matt can't fight, then Mike should be brought back. A fill-in for Rashad's team should come from his team first.
omunto- November 5, 2009 at 7:52 am
Man I was under the impression that people were smart enough to train at least a few years in BJJ before starting MMA. While I applaud Marcus on the great control of the fight, more of it appeared to be a lack of knowledge on Wessel's part.

Sweet armbar....anywhooo....anybody else have to rewind and watch the SuperDave commercial about 4 times. I couldn't stop laughing. What was his asian assistants name?
BuckWild- November 5, 2009 at 7:32 am

I think Rampage actually said " OK lick these" as he grabbed his junk (not scott)
