Tyson Griffin’s Featherweight Debut Will Be Against Manny Gamburyan at ‘UFC on Versus 4′

Two months after announcing his intentions to “move to 145 and make a run for that belt,” former UFC lightweight contender Tyson Griffin has his first featherweight dance partner. The Xtreme Couture product will meet Manny Gamburyan at UFC on Versus 4, which is slated to go down June 26th, possibly at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Griffin is coming off of three consecutive losses (to Evan Dunham, Takanori Gomi, and Nik Lentz), which could make this one of those unfortunate ”win or go home” fights. Meanwhile, Gamburyan hasn’t competed since his violently unsuccessful bid for Jose Aldo’s title last September, which broke his three-fight winning streak at featherweight. Gamburyan was booked to face Rafael Assuncao at UFC 128 last month, but was forced to withdraw due to a back injury.

Why the fuck is this guy getting so many goddamn chances? He should have been gone after the 3rd loss to Lentz, if not the one before to Gomi.

Both about the same standing and comparable ground skills (wrestling v judo). Both of them little tanks at that weight. I like this fight. i mentioned in an earlier post that if the UFC is going to be "the" big leagues they don't have to be so cut happy. They have more than enough cards to make good fights regardless of title contention. Not every game you watch in the NFL, MLB, NHL, (fuck basketball) is between potential title contenders, but styles make fights and they can still be exciting.

In any other circumstances I would totally comment on the ultimate gayness of that weak ass hillbilly celebration, but in the current climate of trollers getting owned by fighters I will keep quiet....

all kidding aside though, this should be a good fight that ends in a ktfo or submission win for manvil, his fights are always entertaining, although i see a layoff notice in griffons future
