UFC 101 Video Hype: Forrest on Anderson, BJ on Kenny

Coming off a painful loss against Rashad Evans in December, you’d think that Forrest Griffin would want a tune-up match before stepping into a another dangerous fight. Yet Griffin sees his meeting with Anderson Silva at UFC 101 (August 8th, Philadelphia) as "an opportunity to really test yourself, just as a person, as a man, as anything." Griffin’s gameplan will rely on some pace-pushing and "intelligent aggression." As for his chances against the Spider, Forrest is reliably humble: "Am I the guy to beat Anderson Silva? Why not? Somebody’s gotta do it. Might as well be me."

After the jump: BJ Penn discusses coming back after his own devastating loss, and says he should have poisoned Kenny Florian‘s food when he had the chance.

Its not that I hate BJ, he is awesome at 155. Its just that he is such a trash talker. “Beat somebody’s ass!” i mean who says that? Mostly as i can tell the true Bad asses don’t need to brag, they just put in work.

What I would like to see:
1. Forrest, once again showing his improvement as a fighter, takes Anderson down and pounds on him til a submission presents itself.
2. Kenny, after weathering the early storm from BJ, eventually takes advantage of BJ’s cardio and chokes him out.

What I expect to see.
1. Forrest gets KTFO.
2. Kenny gets KTFO.

Anderson and BJ both hit like trucks, have great chins, and excellent submission/take down defense. Just like GSP, I don’t see someone who isn’t an explosive wrestler with at least the *threat* of one punch KO power taking these guys out.

I’m excited for 101. I really enjoy watching all 4 of these guys fight. Plus Forrest is my fucking hero.

I don’t understand what your stance is here. If you’re rating fighters on the TUF show or whatever, we’re not talking about the same thing.

Aside from that, their records mean nothing in respect to the current quality of an opponent. If you aren’t able to recognize his improvement since that fight, you are either still learning the sport, or just too ignorant to understand. I’m guessing the former; which is fine (Plus if you want to bring records into the argument, BJ is 13-5 and Kenflo is 11-3, do the math…).

I like both Anderson and Forrest, but I want Anderson to keep winning…and the great thing about Forrest as he doesn’t care if he loses, which makes me feel better about who I’m rooting for.

its hilarious how people disregard the fact that bj has defeated way more talented fighters than kenny. he hasnt even attempted to talk about the fact that sherk beat the dog shit out of him, he hasnt even avenged that loss. its a shame he waited so long to get a title shot just to get smashed by boxing and a granite chin. you can say “kenny is more talented than he was back then” where does this come from? beating roger huerta? beatin joe stevenson? GTFO..kenny has a chance, but not anymore of a chance than sherk did. i like cage potato, but alot of you guys make it a long ride on a short bus

Clutchy, you’ll get to see Sadollah get schooled most likely. Most people don’t realize Hendricks is the next big thing in the 170 division, a 2x national champion, 4x D-1 All-American at Oklahoma State with punching power.

Forrest will get KTFO by Anderson, not because I think Anderson is unbeatable but because Griffin doesn’t have enough power and doesn’t have enough speed. The person to beat Anderson needs to have enough power to hurt him with one punch because that is all he may land. Forrests punches in bunches strategy is doomed to get eaten up by Anderson, in fact that is probobly the best matchup that Anderson could get.

The abilty of Silva to cut people up with his sharp elbows, knees etc VS how east Forrest old wounds open up makes me think that FG will need some stitiches…That being said, FG is a solid 205er and I like his plan.

not exactly lookin forward to this card, finally get to see why my buddy thinks amir sadollah is so great, and i am lookin forward to forrest griffin fighting again. who knows, he might be able to sneak in a nice hit on anderson and make the fight interesting. in my opinion i dont think silva will knock him out, i think it will go to the decision if silva wins.

People who hate BJ are retarded. He is an awesome, entertaining fighter. Outside of fighting he is lazy and surrounds himself with yes men, and hes doomed to never realize his full potential. But he still puts on awesome fights and is going to destroy Florian or anyone else at 155
