UFC 110: A Bad Day to Be a Forehead

Good thing the Aussies aren’t a squeamish bunch, because UFC 110 was one of those events that left a lot of plasma on the mat. Between the accidental headbutt-induced bloodbath of Stephan Bonnar/K-Sos and the gash on Anthony Perosh‘s head that was so nasty even Cro Cop looked a little ill, it was a real horror movie show inside the Octagon in Sydney. Fortunately the ringside doctor had plenty of gauze, and the viewers at home had Joe Rogan to inject some humor into the situation…

I agree with Honky about Bonnar. Dude always brings it in all his fights and keeps it physical. He also doesn't get the credit he deserves for never getting knocked or submitted. If you're gonna lose, better to lose by decision then getting knocked out or subbed early on. I agree that his ability to finish obviously lacks something, but I'd still rather watch him than a lot of other 205'ers.

Call Ambalamps! haha fuck. That videos great. Along with the many follow up interviews with the "Epic" Beard man. The follow ups very well confirm the mans sheer crazyness. In one video he even says he will fight the black guy in Strikeforce when asked by an interviewer.

This is where I realized Strikeforce should indeed sign this crazy 67 year old (Who was in jail for 14 years as well apparently) and get him to fight Herschel Walker. Woo, suck it Dana.

BTW adk16, go on the web and look for Epic Beard Man. The dude he fights on the bus gets wrecked and at he end of the video he is asking for an ambulance but his bottom lip is all cut up and it sounds like he is sayin' "call da amber lamps". Joe Rogan is one savvy SOB for sayin' that. Now do you get it? Ur welcome.

Regarding Bonner, I read via other sources recently that Dana was quoted as sayin' that both Bonner and Wandy would have jobs for life with the UFC.

That would make sense since Wandy's recruitment away from Pride back in the day is what began the exodus of Pride fighters to UFC and led ultimately to Pride's end. As for Bonner, well we all know his season 1 TUF fight with Forrest is what helped to build the UFC and cement it's popularity.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the American Psycho to get a pink slip.

Yeah, I also noticed that. The same thing happened when Rua TKOd Chuck Liddel. Rua and Wandy were the kings of head stomps and soccer kicks back in the Pride days. Pride rules were brutal. And awesome.

Now that is awesome. I would have rather had Wandy DQ'd with a soccer kick, then have him win a decision. War Wandy!

While I admit he does put on decent shows, his one sided loss to Mark Coleman shows that he does not have what it takes to stay with the top tier of the UFC. Coleman got cut. Now that Bonner lost again it should only be "fair" that he gets the axe as well. There are plenty of exciting fighters who can excite crowds while actually winning fights.

Ask yourselves this:

Did Bonnar fail to bring the ruckus? Did he show up out of shape? Did he act like he had someplace else he'd rather be? Did he say anything about being paid too little? No. He showed up, fought as best he could, and kinda got a raw deal in that he didn't get a chance to see his fight through to the end. Win or lose, that fight was primed for a 3rd round spectacular finish and a bad call spoiled everything for the fighters and the fans. You can't be fired for that. Bonnar is a rare fighter in that he always tries his hardest, doesn't always win, but is always entertaining and can be counted on for a good pre-fight and post-fight interview. The UFC would be crazy to can the guy who helped put them on the map years ago. He's like the Chris Lytle of the 205's, and I hope he fights forever. I say give him someone like Brian Stann or Luiz Cane and see what he does next.

Nah I wouldn't bet on that. On the one hand he's been due to get his walking papers for a while, but on the other his boss thinks of him as the guy from the most pivotal fight in mma history and part of what saved the ufc.. so I think this is one of those that could go either way.

I hate the trainer/cornerman who always finds it necessary to wear a muscle shirt version of his fighter's t- shirt. Just wear a t-shirt like the rest of the guys, no one likes your tanned guns or the need you have to show them off, consistently.

That freak headbutt in the bonnar fight really screwed me. I had $200 on over 12 minutes for that fight and it gets stopped like 40 seconds shy because of a freak accident. Bullshit.
