UFC 110 Press Conference Notes: Nogueira or Velasquez Could Challenge Brock, Silva and Bisping Talk Trash + More

(Joe Stevenson and George Sotiropoulos break down their main-card matchup. Props: YouTube.com/UFC.)

— During a UFC 110 press conference held yesterday in Sydney, UFC president Dana White announced that the winner of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez could potentially get the next shot at Brock Lesnar‘s heavyweight belt. "Mir and Carwin are going to fight for the interim title because that fight was already made before Brock said he was coming back," White explained, "[but] the winner of this fight [between Nogueira and Velasquez] puts them right in the mix because something could happen to either Shane or Mir in that fight where they couldn’t fight Brock, so the winner of this fight would fight Brock."

— After the UFC’s first trip to Australia sold out the first day, White stated that Australia could be an annual stop for the UFC. Also, a season of TUF hosted Down Under is "absolutely possible."

Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping‘s professional rivalry is getting personal. At yesterday’s press conference, Silva said "We’re going to have a great show, and I’m going to kick your ass." Bisping took it in stride, but later needled Silva about his recent losses. Silva told Bisping to shut up, and said "100 percent of the guys that talk to him, (talk to me and say) kick him…Everybody don’t like him." To which Bisping responded, "That’s nice. Fortunately, I couldn’t give a [expletive]." In an earlier interview, Silva said that seeing Quinton Jackson in Bisping’s corner will only make him more motivated to beat The Count: "Maybe I’ll beat the one and then after, the other. Two for the price of one."

If we see the old Nog who got suplexed and still came back to armbar the guy then I think if anyone has a chance against Lesnar it's Nog. If it's the newer Nog who has had all his wars in the ring/cage catching up to him then I don't think he'll be Velasquez let alone Brock. I hope he does beat Brock. I hate that guy with a passion and it would be really cool to see big Nog get the official HW belt not the interim belt. It all depends on his performance tomorrow night.

Down under TUF, are you kidding? What "winner" from that group wouldn't get his ass handed to him in KOTC, let alone the UFC?

@One Two: Define "best". IF big Nog wins this weekend, we'll see if he don't get beastified by Brock. Don't get me wrong, I like me some Nog, but Brock is a juggernaut.

Here we go again with a Champ and and interim champ and a back up interim champ and a number one contender and that guy with a Roy Nelsonesque beer gut who has 500 cats and smells like old farts and used tampons. For fuckin sake just say there is one fucking champ and leave it at that!!! I'm really starting to hate the HW division. It's the only divison that is doing this retarded shit.

@El Famous Burrito: They traded him to Kimbo, didn't you see the caption contest?

@831father

Yeah well that's what happens when one guy is an asshat and the other is pretty cool and likeable, you side with the guy that's not a dbag.

@One Two
He looked bad against, Herring, Sylvia, and Mir. Then had a close but great fight with an undersized HW. I hope he's back to old form, and I'm rooting for him. But you can only call him the best HW in the UFC for purely nostalgic reasons.
One Two- February 18, 2010 at 9:41 am
Give Nog his belt allready, hes the best HW in the UFC Nuff said

Haha, you just gotta love Wanderlei. War wandy.
831 Father- February 18, 2010 at 8:56 am
To be fair, and I can't believe I'm defending fucking Bisping, it was Wand who seemed to be initiating all the trash talking (I'll bet most of you didn't even watch the press conference). You expect Bisping to not defend himself? Yet the UK dude is getting chastised for being disrespectful while everyone is turning a blind eye to Silva just because it's Wand and we love him.

Aussie TUF? I can hear it now...

"Oi! Do you buggahs wanna be a fuckin fightah?"
Tact- February 18, 2010 at 8:18 am
God damn I hope Wandy gets this, something in my gut is saying that Penisping has a good stick-and-move chance to wear out Wandys frontal assaults and take it into deep water. I am hoping for a Henderson moment though.

GO WANDY!

if wanderlei loses, bisping is right that wanderlei will be done competing at the highest levels. however, he fails to see what that means for him. it means almost nothing to beat a man who has never competed in your division... until he beats men who are ranked top 10, he cannot be considered a contender.
jimbonics- February 18, 2010 at 7:49 am
Do it for the puppy, Wanderlei!
timmytietoe- February 18, 2010 at 7:48 am
It will go one of two ways: Bisping by decision or Wandy by death rattle.
El Famous Burrito- February 18, 2010 at 7:48 am
I was hoping George Sotiropoulos would explain what he and his wife did with that little black kid they adopted a few years back. Haven't seen him in a while.
Viva Hate- February 18, 2010 at 7:44 am
Bisping, Bisping, Bisping, didn't he learn last time he talked trash to a former Pride fighter he jaw was nearly pushed through the back of his skull.
