21 Humans Who Make Being Human Look Really, Really Hard

UFC 115 Post-Fight Presser

Some decent fights tonight. I’m guessing we’ve seen the last of "The Crow" and "The Iceman" and we’ll be seeing a lot more of Rich Franklin (once his arm heals) Rory MacDonald, Martin Kampmann, Carlos Condit and Claude Patrick.

I’m thinking Cro Cop UFC career may be close to its expiry date considering he is on the last fight of his contract and he carries an exorbitant price tag, but you never know.

Check out the post-fight presser after the jump. It should start around 1:30am ET.

I thought Danzig was surprisingly awesome in his post-fight interview, mentioning how Yves Lavigne shouldn't be blamed; reffing is hard. That's a really hard opinion to articulate after you just lost $8,000+ of your win bonus in a fight you need to win to stay in the UFC.
ComaPlata- June 13, 2010 at 11:09 pm
No one has spoke much of Yves Lagatti's horrible stoppage in the Danzig fight, or that dork that reffed the Funch fight. That dude was making them have their backs against the fence before they came out in the second round. Stopping the fight and standing them up to say " Don't accidentally kick that guy in the head while transitioning for an arm bar " No point deduction... just to talk. When it came to the reffing display at UFC 115, I felt like GSP watching a Matt Hughes highlight reel.

@ comaplata: I know what you mean. It's good to see cro cop get a win but I still don't think he'll have any long term success from here on out. If that is the end of Chuck it's a sad time, but it is time.

Also, can anyone else remember the last card (if there's been one) with 3 stoppages in the last minute of the 3rd round? I've never kept tabs on it but I'm sure that at least 80%* of stoppages are in the first two rounds.

*I will call that a guestimate rather than just a made up statistic.

Also @ rex13: That really is a good quote and I too may steal that at some point.

The worst part about the Yvel fight was that it had these little flashes of being enjoyable followed by some of the softest lay and pray pillow strikes since Roy Nelson completely destroyed the last of the Kimbo hype train.

@rite leg
Thiago looked errily similar to his fight with Fitch. I too was on my soap box telling people to get on the Thiago train with me, the highlight on hime destroying Kos certainly helped, but the enthusiasm quickly went away as Kampmann put on a striking clinic and showed some serious ground skills last night.
My two cents on Thiago, he has power but poor footwork, his ground skills are fine and if he can work on putting punches together(like Kampmann) he could prove to be a threat at 170 for real.

@Orlandomac
I second that emotion on the Rothwell v. Yvel thought.....I lost 3 out of 10 spectators at my place on that one....brutal stuff.

Darkside don't worry about that Bloody site anyone that has a logical differing opinion and aren't named Kneel & Bob eventually get banned. It is the only place where inbreeding is not only condoned it is a requirement.

Unfortunately for everyone they were inbred with a neutered Schnitzel so they bark a lot, have a small dick, and no balls.

I realize that sounds absurd but it matches their personalities..lol

As for the post fight press conference UFC has been doing a very bad job of this of late taking way to long to load.

Can't they appreciate that the real fans stay up to watch the Pressers.. I was up for hours before I realized that they were going limp.

Time to fire the guy in charge of uploading Dana. Fortunately another site had post fight interviews for me to get some of my fill.

As for Liddell it is definitely time.. but everyone knocking Franklin has a mental impediment, especially the ones who say he has no power. He knocked out a whole slew of guys and has fought top notch hard chin fighters for the last few years.

I will go on record as saying this was one of the worst cards ever. Besides the last couple of fights it was total weak sauce. Usually these bad cards produce great fights.. this was definitely not the case.

Rothwell & Yvel should both be cut, they were both gassed 30 secs into the fight.

I thought Chuck was doing pretty good up until the end. That punch didn't seem too hard, but Chuck just can't take the punches anymore.

I don't think Chuck would ever leave Hackleman, but he should have at least went to some other camps to sharpen some skills or gain some new ones. Go see Greg Jackson or go train with a Muay Thai master in Thailand....just mix it up. Maybe he did, but I didn't read anything about it.

It reminded me of Steve Young of the 49ers kind of. Man, that guy kept getting concussions and pretty soon, it seemed like he was always playing with a slight concussion making him even more susceptible to another one.

I hope Chuck retires. I don't want to see him with brain damage or some other serious injury.

I don't think Chuck should go to a smaller organization either. It would just be all down hill from there. Stay with the UFC in some way, talent scout, trainer, TUF consultant, mentor, etc.

How tough is Rich Franklin! Broken arm and still keeps on fighting. That's some serious heart right there.

Joedirt- June 13, 2010 at 7:52 am
Either Chuck needs to retire or he needs to go the Dan Severn route and just fight in smaller org's.
steampunk22- June 13, 2010 at 7:14 am
Lots of bickering lately. Maybe I just haven't been paying attention. ;P
fatbellyfrank- June 13, 2010 at 6:54 am
Kosta Tzyu seemed to know when it was over, but your right Joe, everyone seems to take about two to many fights to realise they shouldn't have!! In Chuck's situation now, you'd hope the athletic commissions would man up and deny him permission to fight
Joedirt- June 13, 2010 at 6:18 am
fatbellyfrank... funny part is... with the exception of Rocky Marciano, it's pretty tough to think of any fighter that retired when he should have. The drive that makes them champions is the same drive that won't let them retire. Although 4 KO's should be a pretty clear sign.
fatbellyfrank- June 13, 2010 at 6:02 am
@ Joedirt, I wish he's retired about 4 fights ago, and thank you for putting things back in perspective, I have been getting all soft cock in my old age, Hey Chuck, take two teaspoons of cement and harden the fuck up, you stopped being a fucken fighter at Dancin with the Stars, we've just been hangin on to memories that you keep pushing further away. Stop now or lose all respect.

was it just me or the way they were talking it sounded like chuck was dead lol. well i guess his career is.
..............................................................................

" IT SOUNDED LIKE CHUCK WAS DEAD LOL'', what kind of sorry ass fucktards are posting on this site these days???
Joedirt- June 13, 2010 at 5:51 am
fatbellyfrank... I respect Liddell, but he needs to retire. Actually... being a guy, even if Chuck were my best friend I'd still crack jokes... as a dude it is my responsibility to bust balls.... as it is your responsibility too. Thank you for NOT giving me the link. I hate snakes and hate spiders. I'd fight an angry dickhole Lesnar bare knuckle after he caught me plowing his wife wearing a "Carwin and Mir RULE" Tshirt before I'd pick up a snake.
Robdamob- June 13, 2010 at 5:49 am
I think its only right that chuck retired. I was so nervous when he started to open up on franklin, sure enough blaow right on the button. Thats 4 times gktfo in his last six for liddell
fatbellyfrank- June 13, 2010 at 5:42 am
Hey Joedirt, show some respect to the Iceman, or I'm gonna send you the link to the story where the redback SPIDER trapped a small python, (thats SNAKE for you Joe) in its web, then ate the SNAKE over about 5 days.
ICEMAN = THE MAN ( it did for a fucken long time)
Joedirt- June 13, 2010 at 4:48 am
Bring Chuck "only slightly chilly" Liddel back for one more fight... against Tito "my skulls to big for my neck" Ortiz. Let them settle it.
Actually come to think of it... Franklin was ko'd by Silva twice and Belfort.... they should have pumped this fight up for the Ultimate Fighting Concussion title, Chuck "where am I?" Liddel vs Rich "Who am I?" Franklin.
radiobaby- June 13, 2010 at 2:14 am
4 seconds? Pretty pithy presser, imo.

UFC tech fails again.
Darkside- June 13, 2010 at 1:18 am
God, I hate seeing Chuck lose like that. Props to Franklin though. He still has a lot of life left in him.

Didn't think i did, but it's possible I guess. Thanks for the heads up.
Darkside- June 13, 2010 at 1:09 am
I don't care about the outcome of the fight. Chuck didn't exactly lose to a scrub tonight anyways, however, whether or not he ever fights again, Chuck will always be the mother f-ing man. I wish him the best, regardless of where he goes in his career from here on out.
Darkside- June 13, 2010 at 12:26 am
"Got banned from bloody failbow for negating the arguments about how "blood chokes" do no damage to a person whatsoever. As a former Marine, I know what I'm talking about, however, if you go against the grain on that website, you get banned. What an amaturish website. Idiots over there." That was my comment. Please tell me how that was spam...

This was a bitter sweet card for me. Liddell and Cro Cop are and forever will be my top two favorite fighters. Barry is a real nice guy, but his lack of killer instinct was both evident and expected. The joy I felt for Cro Cop's win was matched by the sadness of the Liddell loss. Atleast I was mentally prepared for it. That being said Liddell can still hang them up with his head held high, but if he continues he won't be able to hold his head up at all, aside from the involuntary parkinson's shakes. Please Chuck... Retire for your fans, do PR and still make a good living.
