I thought Danzig was surprisingly awesome in his post-fight interview, mentioning how Yves Lavigne shouldn't be blamed; reffing is hard. That's a really hard opinion to articulate after you just lost $8,000+ of your win bonus in a fight you need to win to stay in the UFC.

No one has spoke much of Yves Lagatti's horrible stoppage in the Danzig fight, or that dork that reffed the Funch fight. That dude was making them have their backs against the fence before they came out in the second round. Stopping the fight and standing them up to say " Don't accidentally kick that guy in the head while transitioning for an arm bar " No point deduction... just to talk. When it came to the reffing display at UFC 115, I felt like GSP watching a Matt Hughes highlight reel.

@ comaplata: I know what you mean. It's good to see cro cop get a win but I still don't think he'll have any long term success from here on out. If that is the end of Chuck it's a sad time, but it is time.

Also, can anyone else remember the last card (if there's been one) with 3 stoppages in the last minute of the 3rd round? I've never kept tabs on it but I'm sure that at least 80%* of stoppages are in the first two rounds.

*I will call that a guestimate rather than just a made up statistic.

The worst part about the Yvel fight was that it had these little flashes of being enjoyable followed by some of the softest lay and pray pillow strikes since Roy Nelson completely destroyed the last of the Kimbo hype train.

Thiago looked errily similar to his fight with Fitch. I too was on my soap box telling people to get on the Thiago train with me, the highlight on hime destroying Kos certainly helped, but the enthusiasm quickly went away as Kampmann put on a striking clinic and showed some serious ground skills last night.
My two cents on Thiago, he has power but poor footwork, his ground skills are fine and if he can work on putting punches together(like Kampmann) he could prove to be a threat at 170 for real.

As for Liddell it is definitely time.. but everyone knocking Franklin has a mental impediment, especially the ones who say he has no power. He knocked out a whole slew of guys and has fought top notch hard chin fighters for the last few years.

I will go on record as saying this was one of the worst cards ever. Besides the last couple of fights it was total weak sauce. Usually these bad cards produce great fights.. this was definitely not the case.

Rothwell & Yvel should both be cut, they were both gassed 30 secs into the fight.

I thought Chuck was doing pretty good up until the end. That punch didn't seem too hard, but Chuck just can't take the punches anymore.

I don't think Chuck would ever leave Hackleman, but he should have at least went to some other camps to sharpen some skills or gain some new ones. Go see Greg Jackson or go train with a Muay Thai master in Thailand....just mix it up. Maybe he did, but I didn't read anything about it.

It reminded me of Steve Young of the 49ers kind of. Man, that guy kept getting concussions and pretty soon, it seemed like he was always playing with a slight concussion making him even more susceptible to another one.

I hope Chuck retires. I don't want to see him with brain damage or some other serious injury.

I don't think Chuck should go to a smaller organization either. It would just be all down hill from there. Stay with the UFC in some way, talent scout, trainer, TUF consultant, mentor, etc.

fatbellyfrank... funny part is... with the exception of Rocky Marciano, it's pretty tough to think of any fighter that retired when he should have. The drive that makes them champions is the same drive that won't let them retire. Although 4 KO's should be a pretty clear sign.

I don't care about the outcome of the fight. Chuck didn't exactly lose to a scrub tonight anyways, however, whether or not he ever fights again, Chuck will always be the mother f-ing man. I wish him the best, regardless of where he goes in his career from here on out.

This was a bitter sweet card for me. Liddell and Cro Cop are and forever will be my top two favorite fighters. Barry is a real nice guy, but his lack of killer instinct was both evident and expected. The joy I felt for Cro Cop's win was matched by the sadness of the Liddell loss. Atleast I was mentally prepared for it. That being said Liddell can still hang them up with his head held high, but if he continues he won't be able to hold his head up at all, aside from the involuntary parkinson's shakes. Please Chuck... Retire for your fans, do PR and still make a good living.
