UFC 133 Cursewatch: Lil’ Nog Pulls Out of Bout With Rich Franklin

If this wasn’t the perfect chance to pull the ol’ switcheroo, I don’t know what is. (Pic:

Just as other cards have been steadily beefing up their rosters, UFC 133 has taken another major hit. The UFC announced last night that Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has pulled out of his bout against Rich Franklin due to a shoulder injury.

The promotion now finds itself in the exact position it was in only days ago when an injury to Phil Davis sent them scrambling to find a suitable light heavyweight replacement for their main event bout. It was slim pickings at that time, with Machida attempting to ransom off his services for “Anderson Silva money” and Tito taking the fight after initially turning it down. They now have three weeks to sign a replacement or remove Franklin from the card.

Machida’s reasons for turning down the Evans bout—namely short notice and the need to relocate his entire training camp to the US—have only been exacerbated at this point with even fewer days on the calendar. Of course, maybe he’s willing to suck it up after Dana was vocal about his feelings on the matter. Middleweights Chris Leben and Chael Sonnen had also volunteered their services, but Sonnen now has a dance partner. Could we see “The Crippler” make the jump to 205lbs to take a swing at another legend?

@ KINGMADE - please Mr. Titan with drag radials, kick me twice to vag so we can make sure the sand shakes itself loose. Then pull the panties to one side, give me two fingers in the pink and tongue my Chocolate Al starfish.

If you got a better match-up for "Pinky Tuscadero" Franklin, speak up. Aside from his wife's color choices, he is still relevant - he's no pussy. I give him props for his limp wrist comeback against the Ice-Man.

Some might even call him the gatekeeper, for whatever division he is told to fight next.

@ Booosted - ...not to tear at Cyrus, as I remember, back in January the "Crippler" got totally "Crumpled" in round one by a jarhead named Brian Stann.

Here's the problem, the closed corporation called Fluffa now expects increased profit at every outing. To accelerate this shareholder greed, they first bought themselves a bigger piece of the pie by gobbling-the-goo from the likes of Pride,, WEC, Strikefarce and others.

Now again, in a pinch from injuries they are testing the waters with using class favorites as stand-in's. I'll be blunt, boxing used to rule mano-on-mano competition, but was finally swept aside and shelved by MMA.

By fighting out if his calls, he fucks everyone else down the line. Franklin needs to fight one of the many names in his own class. There are many, pick one. Why not Bonner?

1 Jon Jones
2 Mauricio Rua
3 Rashad Evans
4 Quinton Jackson
5 Lyoto Machida
6 Forrest Griffin
7 Ryan Bader
8 Phil Davis
9 Antonio Rogerio Noguiera
10 Thiago Silva
11 Rich Franklin
12 Matt Hamill
13 Vladimir Matyushenko
14 Kyle Kingsbury
15 Stephan Bonnar
16 Alexander Gustafsson
17 Cyrille Diabate
18 Krzysztof Soszynski
19 Luiz Cane
20 Karlos Vemola
21 Fabio Maldonado
22 Brandon Vera
23 Jason Brilz
24 Igor Pokrajac
25 Ricardo Romero
26 Tito Ortiz
27 Eliot Marshall
28 James Te Huna
29 Steve Cantwell
30 Anthony Perosh

Franklin's five losses include 2 to Anderson Silva, a guy that no one has beaten over that span; a UD to Forrest Griffin, who probably has at least 20 pounds on him; a very close SD to Henderson, a fight that could easily have gone either way; and the loss to Vitor. I'd venture that no one else who can currently make 185 could have done better against the same level of competition that Franklin has faced the last 4 years.

Franklin (with his pink britches) has lost 5 of his last 11 attempts. Had he not gotten lucky against Chocolate Al, he would be rolling home pimp in his pink arm cast. Don't be misled. His losing record has been intentionally blurred by Fluffa.

Fluffa has conveniently spread his losses between a middle-weight, light heavy-weight, and catch-weight. Let's not forget for a while he was their poster-boy and a real cash cow. It was evident long ago, those days had long gone.

Spreading him between weight classes was really the only move not so bright Dwight could do. It was one way to save Franklin from getting pink eyed, his pink slip, and a one way bus ticket to Bellator.

At best, we should be content with Franklin being no more than "Pretty in Pink."

get Tito in against Franklin and fire machida if he doesn't face Evans. to me those fights make more sense than Tito vs Evans anyway.
