‘UFC 137: St-Pierre vs. Condit’ Video Trailer

Latest odds for UFC 137‘s headliner and co-main event:

Georges St. Pierre (-365) vs. Carlos Condit (+370)
BJ Penn (-113) vs. Nick Diaz (+108)

On October 29th in Las Vegas, Georges St. Pierre will attempt to make his seventh-consecutive welterweight title defense against a challenger who’s far more multi-dimensional that the grapplers and strikers GSP has run through recently. Can the dangerous-in-all-positions Carlos Condit turn this into a battle, or is he going to get blown out like the others who came before him? And should BJ Penn be considered the slight favorite over Nick Diaz, or should it be the other way around? Let us know who you’re pulling for in the comments section…

we'll see if condit has the shit to be the man. i remember a guy named john fitch who was supposed to be the second coming, who managed to get his shit fucked up by gsp.

as for penn and diaz, i think penn is a douche and diaz is a little too heavy on the angry young man routine. still, if they both bring their A-game, it could be a great match up. also a nice lead in to the next challenger for the belt. penn's been looking tired, and he's not getting any younger, so diaz takes it. then gets destroyed by gsp in 8 months when he challenges for the belt.

I really hope GSP tries to stand and bang with Condit instead of ghey ass wrasslin'. I'd put money on Condit being the underdog.

Penn via Diaz face plant.

As someone with absolutely no respect for Diaz as a person or a fighter I'm tempted to put money on him. It's going to be 99% standup and Diaz is going to slap Penn into a zombie state just like GSP did. 30-26 Diaz.
I'd love to see Penn's coconut head cracked and a KO victory, better yet if they get a double KO it would be ideal but that is not realistic.
Only interesting thing about GSP vs Condit will be that Condit is the nearest replica to Silva that GSP will ever face in the Octagon. Of course Mayhem is not far off Silva's size either but his standup was not as good as Condit's. GSP wins via RNC.

I can't wait for this. I'm thinking Condit is going come out with a TKO. BJ all day son! How amazing would it be if he Finishes Diaz

I think George will have his hands full with condit. It is a fight that could look similar to McDonald condit. George has the tools to dominate condit everywhere, and he most likely will. But condit is the one guy who is explosive and dynamic enough to really hurt George. Condit possesses something that no one else George has faced is equipped with; a well rounded game with legitimate one shot ko power. And for Diaz, he's going to lose trying to play his own game. Everything he does well, bj does it a lot better. A lot of people on here seem to forget how shitty Diaz was against good ufc competition. He is a strikeforce paper champ 100%. and he'll be a .500 fighter in the ufc. And within 4-5 will no longer be top 10.

All I know is these are going to be some sweet fights. Oh, and that my $50 Diaz-Condit parlay is going to win me $440.
HandsofGold- October 11, 2011 at 10:34 am
If anyone watched Diaz vs Sherk then you should know right away that BJ is going to dominate Diaz in the stand up or in the ground game this isn't strikeforce this isn't cyborg Santos that Diaz is fighting. Its BJ fucking Penn. As far as Condit vs GSP... Gsp will take Condit down because Condit loves to fight off his back gsp will win by TKO reffer to GSP vs Serra 2. That is all folks

Ogre lol ur funny. You sound like a english major threw ur hole speech and ended in funny fashion . Danomite them r good points
RwilsonR- October 11, 2011 at 10:01 am
Excellent points danomite! GSP worries me in that he can become a bit obsessed with whatever style he is trying to be an expert in at that time (wrestling, boxing, bjj), and he needs to remember his greatest strength is his ability to mix these together seamlessly.
newdeal- October 11, 2011 at 9:59 am
gsp is way stronger than condit. i see gsp locking in a kimura in round three. bj vs diaz will be a standup battle but both guys have good chins. bj will take round one but rounds 2 and 3 go to diaz who wins by decision
RwilsonR- October 11, 2011 at 9:57 am
@ ninjay - I agree with everything you said....... if you switched around the names 'Diaz' and 'Penn'.
danomite- October 11, 2011 at 9:39 am
and BJ's chin >>>> Diaz's stockton slaps. Diaz will most likely try to KO bj and end up getting KO'd himself.

Unlike his recent fights I'm actually worried that GSP could lose this fight. Not so much because of how good Condit is (he's good but not that much better than the other guys GSP has fought) but because GSP has been getting progressively worse over his last three fights. 3 fights ago he tries to force a submission on Dan Hardy, foregoing any attempt at Gn'P. 2 fights ago he tries to force a KO against Kos (though I have to admit what he was able to do to Kos standing was impressive). and last fight he actually becomes Koscheck and throws the same damn overhead right over and over again, and actually makes jake Shields look like he has decent striking. If you have the dvd to the shields fight go back and look at the behind the scenes. Firas says to Danaher after the fight that he was very sloppy and they've been doing a lot of new stuff lately (read: Freddie Roach) that they are going to need to get rid of. I hope he does change things and gets back to the GSP that fought Fitch, Penn, and Alves because that guy was unstoppable.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Nick pull out a W, but I would be surprised. BJ's got him covered in every area. BJ's always struggled against the ultra quick wrestler who keeps BJ at a distance (GSP, Edgar).

Basically, if you don't want to finish, you have a chance at beating Baby J. If you want to go to the streets, like Diaz does, you're likely finished.
ExpectJesusBro- October 11, 2011 at 8:45 am
I foresee chants of "USA! USA! USA!" most definitly. I will be rooting for Condit as well. Condit has that fire burning inside to be the best, he's one hungry mofo. Bring that belt home son, and that greasy canadians honor with it. WAR CONDIT!!
Ogre- October 11, 2011 at 8:43 am
Stylistically BJ is a much tougher match up for Nick than Georges was. In recent fights the UFC champ's boxing has primarily consisted of setting up shop behind his jab, a tactic that would likely be negated by Nick's lankiness and unorthodox stand up. Come October 29th we're going to see some very exciting, very technical boxing in the co-main event. If we go to the ground I expect to see a very disciplined jiu jitsu game coming from both guys. Penn will pose a threat to Diaz on his feet and on the matt, but it's a shame Nick's title shot got pulled. We'd be 18 days out from a new champ.

(I'm Canadian so fuck off)
intercept440- October 11, 2011 at 8:37 am
wow ninjay. your delusional (no offense) penn is going to destroy diaz and show just how overated he really is
Maine Blazer- October 11, 2011 at 8:14 am
Condit will (technically) knock out GSP. Mark my words.
tosr- October 11, 2011 at 7:51 am
26 finishes for Condit.. strangely not mentioning GSP's 13, that's more than half his fights!

Easy money on Diaz. Diaz has a great chin and BJ wont know him out. Diaz will pick him apart on the feet. As much as I want Condit to win I don't see it happening. He will wrestlefuck to a decision win. Condit is great off his back but Georges won't be dumb enough to get caught in anything.
