UFC 139 Photo Update: Cung Le’s Nose Almost Looks Like a Normal Nose Again

(On the bright side, he’s now able to smell out of his eyeball. Props: MMAConvert)

Following his TKO loss at the hands (and knees) of Wanderlei Silva at UFC 139, Cung Le‘s nose rivaled Ryan McGillivray’s in terms of sheer cartoonish bustedness. Silva patted himself on the back after the fight, telling Karyn Bryant, “Right now with that nose, he’s going to make more money in Hollywood because now he looks like a more real fighter. He should thank me for making his nose look better.”

I’m sure the offers to play “Jacked-Up Looking Asian Gangster #2″ are about to start flooding in. So what did Cung’s schnozz look like the next day? The big reveal is after the jump, via @CungLe185.

The human body is an amazingly resilient machine, isn’t it? So now that we know Le didn’t have the juice to beat an aging legend, is there a place for him in the UFC? Should he get another fight lower on the middleweight ladder — or does he need a couple tune-up fights outside of the Octagon first?

Ya so Wanderlei Silva is like 35 years old and Cung Le turns 40 in a couple of months. don't blame him for looking for a movie career, and he probably has ring rust too.

No, it was II.

Can't believe nobody's made the Rich Franklin/Silva II (or was it I?) comparison yet.

Best Nose Photo - if there are others, put it in a piece, and let us vote on it.

Yeah keep him around he put on a hell of a show, I think the lay off hurt him. Cung will never fight for the belt but he is an entertainer and there is always room for one of those, especially in the lacklustre MW division.

I thought it was a great show that he put on. This was a fight that the UFC would want/should want to have to draw casual fans into the game It was fast paced, exciting to watch and didn't have any of that "boring ground game." Once Le is healed up and ready to go again, stick him in the cage with another game striker on a free card on Fox.

I picked silva to win because Le has no clue what to do with his hands. He's always leaving his head exposed and his whole arsenal of punches seems to be the spinning back fist. Even his kicks didn't look that great. He kept trying to force that spinning back kick and silva eventually figured him out and wrecked him. I don't see him doing well against the majority of UFC middleweights unless he starts devoting some serious time to training.

Silva ruined his night, Le had a Scarface pile of blow and no nose to snort it with.

His nose looks better, but why are his eyes so squinted?

@ Get Off Me - I agree, but tough to make the weight class drop as you get older. Plus, I just don't know if he has the motivation.

He should be kept around if for nothing else so all the rabid Bloodsport fans can chant 'CUNG LE! CUNG LE! CUNG LE! CUNG LE! CUNG LE!' during his fights....or was that just me doing that
coen9- November 21, 2011 at 7:47 am
and as to whether he should stay in the UFC, i say "hell yes."

He looked understandably..let's say...floppy....but that's to be expected after not fighting or training for so long.

He just gassed.

He's still exciting as hell to watch; no one can do what he does, not even close. And just for that fact, the UFC should keep him. I'll pay to watch his fights.

Holy shit. Looks like a wild animal chewed on it.

Cung is so flashy because his wrestling pedigree allows him to take risks on his feet, with the exception of a few(Okami, Sonnen) I do not see him being wrestlefucked. Cung should look at 170 though moving forward.
I still think there should have been a third round, Cung had a single leg when the fight was stopped.
SnackDaddy- November 21, 2011 at 7:24 am
Oh, it was a fair stoppage, alright. Kung was dung! Kudos to him though that he wanted to keep going.

On another note: I loved how ticked off Rogan was at the stoppage. He kept saying, "Oh, bad stoppage. I don't agree with that stoppage." Then the crowd gasped when they showed Le's face on the jumbotron, and Rogan never mentioned the "early stoppage" again.

Why on earth would he need a couple tune up fights outside of the octagon? He kicked ass in strikeforce, and he had an amazing fight with Wanderlei. Unfortunately he came out on the losing end, but he rocked Silva a few times in the first round and got in a lot of shots. Wanderlei overwhelmed him at the end, but it's not like he got outclassed or demolished. He's an extremely exciting fighter -- dazzling kicks and strikes -- and I'd love to watch him fight again.
Jugger- November 21, 2011 at 7:13 am
He can only hang in the UFC if he gets the right match ups. I'm pretty sure any decent wrestler or grappler with good take-downs could mop the floor with him.
SnackDaddy- November 21, 2011 at 7:01 am
Say what you want, i thought Lee was pretty impressive against Silva. Sure he lost, but in the first round he totally had Silva puzzled. He landed more strikes and had Silva rocked at a few times as well. I think he's a valuable addition to the very thin UFC middle-weight division. Love how he steps in with those kicks. How can a martial arts fan not see the value of having Kung Lee around? Stupid comment at the end of the article.

Cung's UFC worthy, FOTN performance in his debut coming off 1 1/2yr layoff. The question is, does Cung want to continue to fight in mma.
