Just five months after their last visit to the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the UFC returns with another card headlined by native heroes. In UFC 142‘s main event, featherweight champion Jose Aldo — who has now won ten straight fights in the WEC/UFC — looks to make another belt defense against undefeated Team Alpha Male wrestling specialist Chad “Money” Mendes, who will be hoping to put Aldo on his back as much as possible and score some revenge for Urijah Faber’s leg.
In the co-main event, middleweight contender Vitor Belfort returns from his latest injury layoff to welcome Anthony Johnson to the middleweight division, in a matchup that contains too much explosive athleticism for its own damn good.
All 11 fights on the “Aldo vs. Mendes” card feature at least one Brazilian, with Rousimar Palhares, Edson Barboza, and Gabriel Gonzaga making return appearances. The full UFC 142 lineup is after the jump…

commentsAnyone who thinks Vitor would beat Chael is a retard? Ha ha that is the most ignorant comment I have ever read. You realize that P4P Vitor is one of the most powerful strikers in MMA. Despite his age the dude hits hard as hell. I am not a hater of Chael, I was pulling for him the whole time to beat Silva, but let's be honest here all it takes is one clean punch from Vitor and Chael will be waking up to Vitor thanking God and promoting his next fight. This is all opinion so when you say someone else's opinion other than your own is that of a "retard" you lose respect from almost everyone.
Food for thought: Never miss a good opportunity the shut the fuck up.
Also, if Vitor wants to win...all he needs to do is fake an eye-poke
Im with you mate, Sonnen is number 2 and theres no debate. Really if anyone thinks Vitor would beat Chael then they are either retards or the same people that thought Stann could beat him too...
@karma
he did say "arguably" meaning anybody can say he is either #2 or somebody else is...which I would give him #2 anyways because of the fighters vitor fought rather than chael
Everyone is all on Chael's balls bc he took Anderson 5 rounds. NO ONE wants to admit that is was 90% based off the fact that he was on STERIODS and Anderson Silva had a cracked rib.
Chael has improved since losing to Pablo F in WEC and getting sub'd by Maia but I wouldn't say he is the clear cut #2 guy bc of a fight that he lost where he had all the advantages in the world. Just MHO.
