that kick should be legal. if a guy is fucking crawling towards you there is no reason you should not be allowed to kick him in the head. thats a bad rule it should change. if jones wants to monkey around in there and leave his face wide open for a kick he should get kicked in the face and it should be allowed.

dipset, you need to understand that we aren't all just backing up taco because he's our homie. It's just that when someone enters a community and acts like an enormous illiterate douchebag, it tends to illicit the same response from everyone.. which is, in a nut shell, to shut the fuck up and go find some other hoodrats to hang out with.
Ballentine- September 24, 2012 at 6:46 pm
Big John would not have ruled it a DQ.

CrackMasterVanSnap- September 24, 2012 at 2:12 pm
At least it took roughly 12 posts before the comments section degenerated into an Internet tough guy contest. By the way, I challenge all of you to a fight and will take your lack of response as a form of verbal submission.

The monkey crawl is not part of the evolution of MMA, it's just the opposite. It's an exploitation of the rules that were put in place for another purpose. Moves that are illegal in MMA (eye gouging, throat attacks, even 12-6 elbows) were put into place because they were believed to be too dangerous. Kicking a downed opponent was made illegal because people thought it wasn't a good idea to let someone punt a guy in the head if he's already crawling around on the verge of unconsciousness. The UFC was created with the intent of testing the various martial arts under close to real life conditions. In what real-life scenario would you not be allowed to kick a guy just because his hand is on the ground?

I'll keep saying it until I am blue in the face:

VALE TUDO! No fish hooks, eye gouging, small joint manipulation, biting, intentional groin shots (unless it is Joe Son's balls), judo chops to the base of the neck, or Dim Mak. We got a ref, gloves, and mouth guards, what more do you need?

Man, say what you want about Bisping, but if Stann had hit me with that punch, I'd have shit your pants.
Fried Taco- September 24, 2012 at 12:09 pm
I won a fight once because my opponent kicked me in the head while both my feet and my giant penis were touching the ground.

It was a street fight, so it wasn't a DQ, but as I fell backward my humongous wang came up between his legs and smacked him in the nuts so hard he lost consciousness. Thus all the ladies watching us fight declared me the winner and took me home.

The End.

As someone who has caught someone in a Triangle in a fight with the three point stance as well as been kicked in the face using the Three point stance. I have to disagree Danga. Any tool in a fighter arsenal can create both positive and negative scenarios during a fight. Things are going very fast in there and a lot of factors come into play. I feel the three point stance can throw a good striker off very quickly specificly if the person they are fighting is a good grappler aka a High level Jujitsu player or a Collegiate wrestler. I feel the same way with the Jones situation here I don't know why he wouldn't bang Vitor out becausehonestly the only place Vitor could win was on the ground in his guard. He couldn't combo off on Jones due to multiple reasons the two big ones being Jones reach and two and this ones a big one. Jones is only twenty-five years old, he's the youngest champion ever in UFC LHW history right? He is still coming into his own. People don't get that the skills Jones used to win his belt and destroy the entire division where moves he analyzed, tried and found great success with. He's still trying different things and evolving as a martial artist. He won and in impressive fashion so why all the hate? People still hung up on the make believe facts that professional fighters should have to accept championship defenses on a weeks notice? Three Point stance may have been unneeded in this fight but it is a useful tool to keep in ones arsenal regardless of what you may think.
dranokills- September 24, 2012 at 12:18 pm
no karma most people aren't hung up on how many times a champion should fight within however many made up days it is...... most of us are hung up on the fact that Jon jones a cunt, crybaby, drunk, self absorbed asshat who has the personality of a snake. Theres no respect for this kid cause he hasn't shown any to his boss or his fans. So don't make him out to be so great, hes a tall lanky fast kid who will fade and someday we will all get to see some new young punk ass fucktard knock him out, and we can hate THAT guy....see MMA has a future still.
J.Jones- September 24, 2012 at 11:17 am
I appreciate your argument, Karma, essentially because it involved "five across the sneeze" (BTW, those shirts are totally happening, Nation), but I wouldn't consider any attempt to avoid a facet of MMA (in this case striking) as part of the evolution of the sport, especially from a guy like Jones who was bragging about how well-rounded he is in all of the fight promos. The three-point stance is evolution in one sense but devolution in another. Not hating on Jones here, but just sayin'.
Mr_Misanthropy- September 24, 2012 at 11:38 am

Nigga please. For reaz,
Fletch the V Stretch- September 24, 2012 at 11:26 am
I am glad I am not the only one who views it this way. To me, the rule should be if you have a knee down. Feet should not count in my opinion. Basically he is avoiding kicks, knees, etc and still has the ability to immediately fire one of those himself. You shouldn't be able to negate someone from kicking/kneeing you if at the same time you are completely capable of kicking them. Weird scenario nonetheless.
KarmaAteMyCat- September 24, 2012 at 11:01 am
Also this is MMA we're suppose to be open to new styles and techniques. We are suppose to be open to advancing our sport not pick and choose the things that we consider legit and run circles around the rules to negate things we don't like. Rules are rules. You don't get to change them because you don't like something, Adapt, change the game plan.. Evolve this is after all MIXED MARTIAL ARTS. If you wanna see two people bang it out might I suggest some Xarm? Five to the sneeze...
dranokills- September 24, 2012 at 12:12 pm
no no Karmas right, rules are rules. what vitor shoulda done was launched himself on Jones back and choked the fuck out of him...thats not illegal to do to a downed opponent.
Fletch the V Stretch- September 24, 2012 at 11:30 am
Yeah I get it. I guess my mind just considers a "downed opponent" as someone who was "downed" by the other fighter. Not someone who is simply downing themselves in order of avoiding certain aspects.
Fletch the V Stretch- September 24, 2012 at 11:21 am
I am pretty sure we saw this technique in a movie called blood sport. Homeboy got murdered using that technique. I wouldn't advise it.
KarmaAteMyCat- September 24, 2012 at 10:58 am
@Fletch no two feet and a hand is three points brotha. It could be a Knee a foot and a hand but two feet and one hand is a downed opponent.. Shit two feet and one testical is a downed opponent..
Fletch the V Stretch- September 24, 2012 at 11:14 am
Haha, well that is kind of dumb. Two feet being on the ground is kind of essential to STANDING not being "a downed opponent". Kind of hard to be considered a "downed" opponent, to me, if you are in fact on your feet. I don't know. That is a very blurry rule in my opinion. And if you are pulling the shit Jones pulls I have an even HARDER time considering you a downed opponent. I am with Big John here. If you want to play that game expect to see a big foot coming at your face. So Belfort could not have rushed in with a flying knee?
Fletch the V Stretch- September 24, 2012 at 10:14 am
I am not quite sure why you guys think Jones was down. Correct me if I am wrong but 3 points of contact would be his two hands on the mat and a knee? Jones never has a knee on the mat. Had Belfort kicked him in the face it would have been totally legal in my opinion. Don't want to be kicked in the face? Leave that monkey shit in the gym.
Fried Taco- September 24, 2012 at 10:18 am
Unless he was doing a handstand, there were four points down - 2 feet and 2 hands. But even if Belfort had been DQ'd for knocking Bones out with that kick, Dana White would probably have given him a hell of a bonus!
Fletch the V Stretch- September 24, 2012 at 11:17 am
I just have a hard time considering anyone DOWN when they are on their fucking feet. To me, that is completely the opposite of what DOWN is supposed to mean.
Dmonicideals- September 24, 2012 at 9:29 am
Selectively enforcing the rules because you don't like the stance a fighter starts the fight in is a great way to show it's not some freakshow that deserves to be legalized in NY. Why does he have to try an illegal kick? Why can't he just punch him like Rampage did?
