What a bizarre night. If, like me, you can’t quite make sense of what you saw last night, the video above gives you another chance to sort through it all. What does it say when Bruce Buffer provides more intensity than the main event?
Bonus awards for UFC 90 were $65,000 a piece and it played out like this:
Fight of the Night: Sean Sherk and Tyson Griffin
Submission of the Night: Spencer Fisher
KO of the Night: Junior Dos Santos
Awarding bonuses this time around must have felt like a strange process. There were only two submissions (Thales Leites‘ choke of McFedries was not impressive enough somehow) and one knockout, and picking a fight of the night had to be a lot like picking a favorite Arena League football team. Apparently 15,359 people showed up to be disappointed by the most unsatisfying UFC in recent memory, with a live gate totaling $2.85 million.
Dos Santos’ vicious knockout of Werdum is after the jump, along with the so-called fight of the night and more.
Fabricio Werdum vs. Junior Dos Santos
Sean Sherk vs. Tyson Griffin
Thales Leites vs. Drew McFedries

commentsWhens its all said and done I will balance you, and you can shit in the hole in his face.
Now that I have your address I am signing you up for some really weird porn and sending it to your house. Hope you dont live with mom and dad.
What in the fuck are you talking about? I never said a word about your contributions to society not being worth anything, as I recall I never said anything to you. I don't work at a desk as a matter of fact I perform the most dangerous construction job in America but thanks for assuming. As for your Military service, it commendable if you really are or were in the Military and gave your limb for your country, I have a lot of friends in the Military many in the Special Forces many of whom dont attack random strangers on the internet without making any sense. CAN SOMEONE POINT OUT TO ME WHERE I ATTACKED HIM OR HIS SERVICE TO HIS COUNTRY?
Does anyone know the name of the song that was playing when Sean Sherk was walking in?
Holla
Well when I become I drug dealer like you maybe I'll afford to own a place to myself. But I just did my 3rd tour in Iraq where our humvee was hit by an E.I.D. and I lost my left leg. I sold my house and my kids had to move out with their mom. I am currently staying at my grandmothers house, one of my few family members that I know of. Since I was adopted at the age of 3. I gave my leg for freedom if thats what you want to call it. I guess I should of got a desk job like you so I don't have to worry about bombs and bullets killing me. Maybe if you have some respect you will realize without the army your desk job might not exist.

"OBI, I think at times during the fight Silva was being evasive in a tactical way but I don’t think it’s true for all of the fight."
Agreed, but frankly, based on past experience, Silva had Cote sized up and measured at the one minute mark. Maybe I'm wrong, but Silva could have pressed the fight and taken Cote out pretty much anytime after the 1:30 mark of the first round. That's just my opinion. Silva was being evasive in a tactical manner, but why? He had Cote. Nothing against Cote. He came to fight and he gave his best. But frankly, Silva is a better fighter than Cote.
"The major point I’d like to bring up regarding Silva compared to Lyoto, or Ali or anyone else that has been brought up as showboating, is that for Lyoto - being evasive is how he ALWAYS fights. Ali did showboat but he did it ALL the time, and no I didn’t like it then either. The way Silva behaved last night was not characteristic of how he normally fights."
Damn straight it wasn't characteristic!
Dude, I understand. Machida is "characteristicly evasive". That's his style. It works for him, so why would he change it? I guess my point was, people bash Machida for the same style of fighting that Silva displayed. Obvoulsly, it's effective. I was really just trying to draw a comparison to Machida.
As far as "showboating" goes; sorry, Silva offering the hand was a total disrespect to Cote. There was nothing friendly about that. Please IMMEDIATELY refer to the Silva vs Lutter bout where Lutter was on his back trying to lure Silva to the ground and Silva responded with a a foot stomp. IMO, he was trying to embarass Cote into standing back up and playing the game Silva wanted to play. Total control tactics. Anyone who thinks that Silva was offering a "hand of friendship" to Cote and being "gentlemenly" to Cote, go here:

Check out the 4:40 mark and you'll see what I mean.
Overall, it was a really weird fight. That wasn't a version of Anderson Silva that I have ever seen before. I may not be the Nostradamus that "Mayhem420" is, but something was behind Silva's approach to this fight and I'm really curious to find out what it is. I'm just shooting in the dark, but Silva proved that he can hurt the UFC as much as he can help them them.
Think about it.
Why didn't you guys go kick his teeth in? I am sure he was patiently waiting.
1) I found myself rooting for Sherk. Never dreamed I'd type that sentence.
2) I found myself rooting for Koscheck. Never dreamed I'd type that sentence.
3) I found myself wishing A. Silva would stop acting like a epileptic moron and get violent. He's always been a bit of a showboater even back in his Pride and Cage Rage days, (was it in his fight with Curtis Stout that he intentionally dropped his hands and let Stout wail on his chin?) but last night was way, way, way overdone. He crossed a line. Those of you saying, "That was his gameplan, he was trying to confuse Cote. You don't know anything about MMA!" are cracking me up. Silva's always done stuff like he did last night, just to a much lesser degree. It's not a gameplan, it's typical Silva quirkiness.
Silva is a genuinely nice guy and I don't think he was trying to disrespect Cote as much as he was trying to "put on a show." Obviously, some of you enjoyed it. I didn't. I like Anderson and always enjoy it when he mixes in a little showmanship (I thought his bobble-head dancing in his second fight with Franklin was hilarious)... but 2 entire rounds of showing off? Ugh. I hope he brings his briefcase and gets back to business next time he enters the Octagon.
