UFC 92 Weigh-In Report
Wanderlei Silva and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson couldn’t just get up on the scales and call it a night. Nope, there had to be a little extra curricular activity, just to further steal the show with their third fight.
It was an intense staredown to begin with after each man made weight at the MGM Grand this afternoon. The two were nose to nose when Jackson said something that the microphones didn’t pick up, but it must have been naughty because Silva shoved him immediately. If you want my guess, Rampage was pulling out one of his old bad breath jokes. Silva has struggled long and hard with gingivitis, and dental stuff in general is a sensitive topic for him.
Dana White quickly got between them, followed by almost everyone else on the stage, just to play up the drama. I tell you, it was enough to make you miss Pride.
The rest of the weigh-in went smoothly and predictably. Frank Mir got booed. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Forrest Griffin both got very warm welcomes. And all fighters made weight (though Dean Lister did have to strip down to hit 186). The only other excitement was Cheick Kongo pulling the seventh-grade bully move of faking a lunge at Mostapha Al Turk during their staredown. To his credit, Al Turk didn’t flinch. Looks like Kongo won’t get those two free punches he was hoping for.

Also did you even watch the fights?? Rampage dropped Wandy once, the fights were really close until he started eating knees!

I'm a Rampage fan, but am tired of hearing his excuses for each time he lost. He was in those two fights, but Wandy got stronger later on.
Hopefully Q gets an early KO or GNPs Wandy's ass . If not, he'll probably get desperate like Chuck did against Evans.

That's how I see it. I remember Dana showing off his new aquisition when he got Silva, but what has he done since? He hasn't settled, and while he looks like the baddest mofo on the planet he's a pussy cat, and Rampage has a fucking huge point to make and the training to back it up. Watch and see.
I don't think Griffin is gonna want to let this go the distance, as he seemed to be prepared to do against 'Page. He's going to want to get it over with. He knows he can't compete with the knockout power, and is going to avoid Rashads bombs until he gets frustrated and shoots. Then Griffin is going to switch the takedown and armbar him.
Then I'm going to rise up and smite you all for disagreeing with me. Girls.

In their past 2 fights it seems like 'page did the same thing: when he got rocked he just kept moving forward with his head down, in perfect range for silva's crazy arm punches and knees. Worst thing he could do. If he has learned not to do that, and to dodge and circle around the cage instead, I bet he'll win the fight this time. I think he was feebly trying to close in for a takedown or something before, but he really only put himself smack dab in silva's wheelhouse.
