Diego Sanchez engages in a kickboxing bout, while Joe Stevenson fights a boxing match. When that happens, you can usually guess who’s going to win. A strong debut at lightweight for Sanchez. As for Stevenson, instead of considering your own drop in weight, as you may be tempted to, how about getting with a good camp and learning some new tricks?

Hey, the referee has discretionary power. Whine all you want, but if the ref sees Kos unconscious as he’s falling through the air, that’s all the grounds he needs for a stoppage. Doesn’t matter that Kos was ready to pull guard once he was on the ground. He was out before then.

It’s debateable whether or not it was an early stoppage. Koscheck was seriously rocked and went very rigid but he seemed to regain himself pretty quickly. If I was the ref I think I’d have let the fight go on for a little bit longer but he would have probably been criticised had Thiago landed a couple more bombs on his face – which it looked like he was lining up to do. Either way, great hands from Thiago.
Kos fight was stopped way early. There have been tons of fights where a guy gets dropped like that and is able to continue just fine. I hate early stoppages, let them fight until there is a clear cut winner if they were that concerned about their health they probably wouldn’t make a career out of fighting in cages would they?
the ref should have let the Kos fight go on a bit more. it would have been good to see him bleed and absorb some punishment. dude got schooled and it looked good on the punk.

Why doesn’t Joe Rogan talk to Paulo Thiago after he kicked Kos’s ass? Rogan was way to high on Kos anyways. He says the exact same stuff everytime Kos fights. POW! RIGHT IN THE KISSER!

Dude, get over it. We all make fun of people, knowing damn well that anyone and everyone has the equal right to bash us in return. Demian Maia is an incredible submission artist, he is going to be a UFC champion someday. I was not the only person to mention his nipple hair. When I saw him enter the cage, I immediately noticed it – just like I noticed Chael Sonnen’s pointy ribs, Chuck Liddel’s beer gut, Tito Ortiz’s over-sized head, and even the spare tire strangling the lower torso of Planet Earth’s #1 Fighter. The bottom line is that it’s human nature to point out flaws in others, but naturally defend our own insecurities.

Not a kos hater like most of yall but the stoppage was legit, he was done. I hate how all these guys revert from their roots, did kos even go for 1 takedown ?? Maia was impressive once again, cant wait to see who he’s matched up vs’s next. Not a bad card in my opinion.

Ironic, Joe Rogan compares Koscheck to Liddell: good wrestler + excellent striker, hard to take down, so your forced to stand and exchange. Then, bam! Very much like Chuck, indeed.
Look at the maia fight again – that wasn’t a double underhook plex. All he had was a whizzer on sonnen’s right arm and a grip on his left elbow. How he pulled off that move without double hooks is beyond me.

When a ref sees a guy go unconscious like that, the ref has discretionary power to stop the fight. That’s why sometimes you’ll see a fight like Koscheck, where he’s KO’d and falls to the mat and the ref stops it, and other times you’ll see a guy get KO’d but the ref lets a couple more hits in, while the guy lays silly on the ground.
That’s why there’s a ref, to call the fight as they see fit. Why don’t you suckers go get knocked out and then take your own advice and let your opponent wail on your limp self while you’re laying on the mat…see if your opinion about it changes then.
Be happy that the UFC is giving you such great shows, many of them the free ones on Spike, too! Don’t be greedy, and not care for the fighters who entertain you.
