UFC Booking Orgy: Bader vs. Janitor, Struve vs. Hunt (Take 2), Faber vs. Menjivar + More

(Even in the off-season, the dude stays in killer shape. Props: @ryanbader)

We’ve got four new UFC fight announcements for you this morning. If you begin to feel overwhelmed, just remember your safe word, and pray that I have mercy on you, you worthless little dung beetle.

- As first reported by ESPN, light-heavyweights Ryan Bader and Vladimir Matyushenko will meet at UFC on FOX 6: Johnson vs. Dodson, January 26th in Chicago. Both guys are returning from being smashed in their last fights: Bader suffered a knockout loss to Lyoto Machida in August, while the Janitor has been sidelined due to injury since being TKO’d by Alexander Gustafsson last December.

- MMAWeekly reports that streaking heavyweights Stefan Struve and Mark Hunt will meet at the UFC’s next Japan event — UFC on Fuel 8, March 2nd at the Saitama Super Arena. The beanpole Dutchman and stocky Kiwi were originally scheduled to meet at UFC 146 back in May, but Hunt was forced to pull out of the fight on short notice with a knee injury.

A proven fight-finisher, Struve has stopped his last four opponents in the Octagon (Pat Barry, Dave Herman, Lavar Johnson, and Stipe Miocic), while Hunt has earned victories over his last three (Chris Tuchscherer, Ben Rothwell, and Cheick Kongo). Though Hunt will enjoy a sort of home-field advantage — he’s had nine previous MMA fights at the Saitama Super Arena, while Struve will be making his Japanese debut — he will also be giving up 13 inches (!) in height.

- After previous reports linked Urijah Faber to a squash match against Vaughan Lee — which Lee himself dismissed as a rumor — a new story from Tatame says that Faber will meet the considerably-more-credible Ivan Menjivar at UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar (February 2nd, Las Vegas). (Update: This fight has been officially confirmed for UFC 157, February 23rd in Anaheim.) Menjivar has won four of his last five UFC fights, and is coming off a Submission of the Night performance against Azamat Gashimov last month at UFC 154. Meanwhile. Faber will be returning from his decision loss to Renan Barao at UFC 149 in July.

- Verbal agreements are reportedly in place for flyweight contenders Joseph Benavidez and Ian McCall to square off at UFC 156. Both fighters are coming off of decision losses to Demetrious Johnson during this year’s inaugural UFC flyweight tournament. McCall has been inactive since June, partly due to his arrest/brief jail stint in August.

I want my penis to jump Jade Bryceses's shark. Can this be arranged.

PS- Ryan Bader looks an awful lot (no pun intended) like Cris Cyborg will after she makes 135 to get her a piece of Ronda Rousey's sweet hot ass. Plus cauliflower ears. And rash guard rash.

@crappie
"Jumping the shark" refers to an episode of Happy Days in which The Fonz literally jumped over a shark on water skis. So, not particularly new-fangled. It refers to a point at which a theme or idea is reduced to absurdity through an exhaustion of credible permutations on a basic premise.

The term is at least a decade old. It refer to the point where a TV series begins to decline. "Jumped the Shark" refers to the Happy Days episode where Fonzie jumped the shark tank on his motorcycle in Arnold's parking lot. Coined by John...something as he started a web site (since sold) that documented the decline of TV shows. That John guy has been working for Howard Stern for years now.

@ Fried Taco: I know, right? I love looking at anything with 2 legs, tits, a twat, and/or a heartbeat, but this is ridiculous.....I guess beauty is in the eye of the beerholder

Faber vs Menjivar. That ought to be a good one. I'm sure Faber's the betting favorite but I like Menjivar in this one. The blueprint to beat Faber has already been laid out by José Aldo. Leg kicks…
