While Strikeforce is still locking down fights for their November 7th "Fedor vs. Rogers" card, the UFC already has their plans finalized. In an effort to draw eyes away from the World’s Greatest Heavyweight, Spike TV will be airing a two-hour special at 9 p.m. ET/PT called "UFC Main Events." The lineup will include:
– Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira from UFC 102
– Vitor Belfort vs. Rich Franklin from UFC 103
– BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian from UFC 101
– Forrest Griffin vs. Anderson Silva from UFC 101
None of these fights have ever been seen on basic cable, which is good news for those of you who haven’t had the time or money to keep up with the UFC’s recent pay-per-view broadcasts. But while previous viewership battles between the UFC and Strikeforce haven’t always been held on level playing fields, the UFC will now be putting some of its best product on Spike to compete with a potentially massive audience on CBS. Tables, they turn sometimes. We’re about to find out how strong the UFC brand really is…

I think it's a bad move by the UFC. Sure it will draw some casual viewers away from the Strikeforce event, but most actual MMA fans will have seen all of those fights already and will watch the live shit. On the other hand I don't think the Strikeforce show will get as many viewers without Kimbo or Gina Carano. On a related note, no way does this fight last longer than 1:30.

CBS is new to this market and they don't even know WHO they are marketing the Fedor fight for to be honest. @the love for mma - You sir, are a moron. To call DW and the UFC a whore after you paid them...only this time they are giving it to you for free means they are sluts. Please get it right. If you really break it down, the fact DW is countering the Fedor fight with these reruns (the Forrest vs. Anderson fight was so crushing ESPN actually covered it...and spoiled it for me) means he knows for a fact CBS isn't trying to really do anything with this fight and they are only testing the waters. Odds are he knows his reruns will do well enough against this promotion that CBS will look at the ratings numbers...see how close they are and drop Strikeforce. Maybe even leaving the door open for the prime time coverage for the UFC that DW has been hinting at.

2 of those fights add up to 6 minutes total. The BJ Penn/Florian fight was 3 rounds of snoring followed by 90 seconds of BJ actually doing something, and the Couture fight goes the distance, but it's not a great fight. This looks like a great line up to chock full of commercials about the next episode of the Ultimate Kimbo Slayer and how with Couture at LW now, he's unstoppable, or that someone actually gives a shit about Swick/Hardy and how they'll be fed to GSP as a sacrifice. Don't forget that everyone's favorite British chob, Bisping, will also get some air time! I can't wait for this night of excellent (shitty) UFC fights!
