UFC Fight-Booking Roundup: Jones vs. Hamill, Davis vs. Saunders + More

According to reports on MMA Madness and The Garv, UFC light-heavyweights Jon Jones and Matt Hamill have agreed to face each other on the main card of the TUF 10 Finale (December 5th, Las Vegas). One of MMA’s most exciting prospects, Jones (9-0) most recently submitted Jake O’Brien at UFC 100, following decision wins over Andre Gusmao and Stephan Bonnar. Hamill (6-2) could be Bones’s toughest test yet. The TUF 3 vet has won back-to-back fights since his loss to Rich Franklin at UFC 88, scoring a TKO over Reese Andy at UFC 92 and a devastating head kick KO of Mark Munoz at UFC 96. It will be the first of a new four-fight deal for Jon Jones, who’s now splitting his time between Tristar Gym and Greg Jackson’s camp.

In other booking news, UFC 106 (November 21st, Las Vegas) will host a welterweight brawl between Marcus Davis (16-5) and Ben Saunders (7-1-2). Both fighters are coming off of losses at UFC 99, with Davis dropping a split-decision against Dan Hardy and Ben Saunders getting starched by Mike Swick. Davis also has a loss to Swick on his record — a unanimous decision at UFC 85 — but he was able to go the distance with a jacked-up shoulder; the MMAth suggests that Davis should take this one.

And also…

— MMA veteran set to make his UFC return at UFC 106 against John "Doomsday" Howard (12-4). Both fighters are riding five-fight win streaks. While in the UFC, Howard has scratched out split-decision victories against Chris Wilson and Tamdan McCrory.

Dan Miller has been forced out of next Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 19 show due to an infection; replacing him in his scheduled fight against CB Dollaway will be UFC newcomer Jay Silva.

Ben Saunders got "starched" by Mike Swick? Hmmm, I need to go back and watch that. I always thought "starched" meant when someone got KO'd so hard that they drop like a 2x4. All "stiff", ya know. For example, Matau vs. Abbott, or Salmon vs. Rashad, or Hendo vs. Bisping. Maybe "starched" is the new "epic".

Bones vs Osteoporosis. Best photo caption ever. Send yourself a Bruce Lee DVD box set for that one. Maybe this rookie will whip CB Dollaway's ass and DW will finally shitcan him.

Are you kidding me? Hamill hasn't moved to middle weight yet? The guy's way too small for light heavy; he needs to drop down. Maybe his upcoming loss to Jones will be just the kick in the ass (or head) he needs.

@Art Gibs: Hammill is actually considered one of the stronger LHWs and doesn't appear small... He's a bit softer than some of the other LHWs, but he's also pretty slow, so I don't think MW would be a better option. @Jugger: Starched = To beat your opponent in a dominant fashion... which Swick did.

I think Jones would definitely give Anderson Silva a run for his money. Maybe he'll drop to middleweight or he can fight Silva at Light Heavy sometime soon. That fight alone would be worth the price of admission for a PPV.

So, there is going to be a UFC fight between Superman and Doomsday? haha. Is DC Comics a sponsor for that PPV? Maybe it'll be a double KO in this fight, too.
