UFC Fight Night 19 Video Hype: Huerta, Cantwell, Guillard

(Props: BadBoyMMA1)

Roger Huerta may have an ill-advised acting career to turn to after tomorrow night’s fight against Gray Maynard, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t training hard for his last stand in the Octagon. In the video profile above, Huerta implies that his previous loss to Kenny Florian at UFC 87 was the result of moving away from his dependable coaching duo of Dave Menne and Justin Hagen. He certainly seems focused — though you have to wonder if Huerta should be drilling nothing but his smother-defense at this point.

In another training vid from Bad Boy, Steve Cantwell says his first loss to Brain Stann was due to youthful inexperience and big-show jitters; he showed his improvement during their rematch (which Cantwell won) and plans to keep the ball rollin’ during tomorrow night’s rubber match on the UFC Fight Night 19 undercard. According to his beefy S&C coach — who wears a shirt that says "BENCH" on the front and "PRESS" on the back — Cantwell is the strongest he’s ever been.

And finally, 11 minutes of Melvin Guillard knockin’ fools out. Who the fuck you think you fuckin’ with I’m the fuckin’ BAWSS.

At least the video of Huerta shows him preparing for the fight and not him practicing his Improv at the Upright Citizen's Brigade.

@ Jugger: If I remember correctly, Guillard was busted for greasing.

So, I didn't know Guillard had a win of Huerta (around the 6:00 mark in the video). Me neither. But DZK on that HL video was pretty sick.

So, I didn't know Guillard had a win over Huerta (around the 6:00 mark in the video). I went to Sherdog to figure out when and where that happened. Sherdog calls it a, "No Contest - Overturned by Commission". Anybody know the circumstances behind that?

I hope Melvin beats Nate. I like Nate n all, and I think he "could" win, but I wanna see Melvin reach his potential and start fighting some big names. I hope he's been workin on submission escapes!

I'm sitting here watching Kimbo on ESPN this morning. Apparently he lost to a Seth PetroZOOly. Shocking. I'm amazed at how lame these anchors are on First Take

@ Jugger Yeah man, Guillard was indeed caught greasing. Guillard had won that fight via unanimous decision (if I remember correctly), but was later overturned and changed to a noIcontest because it was discovered that Guillard was greased up. I wouldn't have minded seeing a rematch actually... Too bad Huerta wants to be a Cloony

i'm with you smitty... i think this guy can take it all the way to the top echelon of lightweights, and his fights are always exciting. that body blow at 10:36 is gut-wrenching...

Guillard and Diaz should both be required to fail their drug tests instead of pass them, that way neither of them can use a pussy ass excuse like "withdrawl" or "a clear head" for a bad performance.
