UFC Lady-Booking Update: Julie Kedzie vs. Germaine de Randamie Added to UFC on FOX 8 in July

What the hell, guys…it’s like the UFC is actually assembling a real women’s bantamweight division, with contenders and prospects and even gatekeepers. Color us impressed. The UFC’s latest female fight-booking is veteran Jackson’s MMA product Julie Kedzie vs. Dutch kickboxer Germaine “The Iron Lady” de Randamie, both of whom spent time in Strikeforce before that organization’s collapse. As first revealed by FOX Sports, the two fighters will meet at UFC on FOX 8, July 27th in Seattle.

A decorated practitioner of the “Fuck This” fighting style (seriously), Kedzie has unfortunately lost her last two contests against Miesha Tate and Alexis Davis, which dropped her career record to 16-11. Since then, she’s kept busy as a member of the Invicta FC broadcast team, and according to Wikipedia, Kedzie is also Greg Jackson’s personal assistant.*

A former WIKBA World Muay Thai Champion, Germaine de Randamie is just 3-2 overall in MMA, going 2-1 under the Strikeforce banner in 2011-2012. She most recently defeated Hiroko Yamanaka by decision last August. Kedzie and de Randamie were originally supposed to meet at a Strikeforce Challengers event in September 2011, but Kedzie was forced to withdraw due to injury. Wild guess: The winner of this fight will take on the female winner of TUF 18. Random thought: So is Liz Carmouche coming back any time soon or what?

UFC on FOX 8 will be headlined by Rory MacDonald vs. Jake Ellenberger, and will also feature Mac Danzig vs. Melvin Guillard and Robbie Lawler vs. Tarec Saffiedine.

* “Goooooood job, Julie. This is exactly how I want my coffee. Now listen, a little more coffee grounds in the filter next time, and a little less water in the pot. We’re increasing intensity, just like we visualized yesterday. Hey, coffee’s ready Don-Ald-Suh-Ro-Nay.” — made-up quote from Greg Jackson

I have money to spend, I just like to vote with my wallet. I don't like giving the upvote to fragile cards that will crumble from one injury.

@ Arm & Farmer

Well, I never said anybody should get all crazy and pay $50 for anything...

All I am saying is, if I shell out $59.00 + Tax, I want to see either a hyped can get crushed in their UFC debut, OR a stacked card. None of this, " hey we put this awesome card together, we ALMOST did not have a show; so feel very fortunate." Yeah, if I have to Wikipedia or Google a main card fighter OR all main card fighters, I really think no shows are better than a hatchet job broadcast.

Just Sayin,

what's with all this negativity? Just watch people punch each other in the face.

All the people that you put on a pedestal and make heroes out of will quit fighting at some point anyway. A lot of the big names from the past are slowly fizzling out as we speak. The future is in the undiscovered talent without well known names. A good fight is a good fight, it doesn't matter who promotes it. Eventually, in the next five years or so nearly every fight you see will be between names you never heard of five years ago. I'm always interested to see some crazy shit go down it doesn't matter to me where it came from or who's involved.

Ill agree, the ufc's matchmaking and fight cards leave me scratching my head more often than not. It's ok though, now with 4 new divisions they'll be more watered down than ever which will save me a lot of money as ill never feel inclined to pay for a ufc event. "What a great card we have for you tonight! Our main event features a bored champion vs a random undeserving middle of the pack guy from a different division. Leading up to that we've got an assortment of tuf rejects you've never heard because you stopped watching that shitty show 10 seasons ago, a couple mediocre girls, and a couple guys that weigh less than said girls fighting each other for the 5th time. Order now!"

So let me get this straight, we should be impressed that the UFC is finally bringing women into the fold? Yet, why did the women at the last UFC event get way underpaid versus their male counterparts? Now we are to be excited about a bout featuring a fighter who is 16-10 vs a fighter who is 3-2? Dude, I can see that crap at regional shows. So we are to be impressed because fight comes wrapped up in nice UFC packaging?

That UFC match maker Silva is a tool. How the hell does he pick some of these fight? Does he use a Ouija board? I believe I speak for all UFC fans: We want to see Cyborg Vs Rousey. Oh, right we probably will never see that, because Silva is inept as a match maker. Plus throw in the fact that Dana White and Tito Ortiz have a Tina and Ike Turner relationship thing going on. So the real losers are the fans and fighters who have deal with the politics of a couple douche' bags.
